Great review Alex, I've tried peg, nova and 1080 out of these and ended up picking up novablast. I am on the heavier side and your easy is more like my tempo pace. I just love the bounce and simplicity of nova, it's a pure joy to run in. I'm not comparing them to turbo2's but it brought a similar smile on my face after a finished my first run. Awesome review!!!! Great choice of shoes to compare and seeing all those metrics side by side, that was incredibly interesting and useful!!! Thank you so much!! I've found personally that the NB 1080 feels very different once it's broken in about 50-60km, I just wonder if each shoe has similar kms on them and approx. how many?? Thanks a lot for the very nice and encouraging comment. Yes most shoes change after around 30kms and then the ride "settles". For some it takes a bit more (mainly but not only those EVA-based midsoles).

I ran in the 1080 v12 spring and summer ; the midsole foam really wore out after 150-200 miles for me felt like a shoe that didn’t last as long as some similar models. But as 6’1 “ 200 lb runner I am considered large by running standards; I got the novablast 3 trail version now and so far so good. Cannot comment on longevity but it is a nice cushioned daily trainer more bouncy and cushioned than 1080. The novablast trail is appreciated on the wet leaves covering the gravel trails I use near my house :-)

Hi Alex, wonderful review. Really enjoyed those biometric numbers. Mach 5 is a great shoe...best upper of any shoe I have. Except...it has no real outsole. Wear is a problem, as you might expect. CloudMonster has a wonderful ride.. Tongue has no padding and the laces have an abbreviated patern. Pressure on the top of instep is a bit of an issue, for me. Cheers

Great video Alex, really appreciate the detail you go into. Daily trainers are my favourite shoes! I’m currently loving the 1080 and the Peg but I really didn’t get on with the Mach! Good and useful video, Alex. I’m very much a forefoot striker and a very high cadence runner (avg ~208 up to 244 at higher paces). My daily rotation, even though some wouldn’t fit your criteria is: Nike Invincible Peg Turbo Nature Novablast 2 Saucony Speed 3 On Cloudmonster I enjoy a versatile and lively feeling shoe. Nice review with good analysis and subjective descriptions. I currently have three of these in rotation - the Novablast 3, Mach 5, and 1080v12, but I use the 1080v12 as more of an easy/recovery run shoe than daily trainer. I had the Cloudmonster but I didn't like it at all. The ride was weird and the fit was even weirder. Not interested in the Pegasus 39. My fave is definitely the NB3 although I also like the Mach 5 for a totally different feel and ride. I also have the Endorphin Speed 3 which I like very much and use for daily training.

Super interesting breakdown! Especially because of the additional stats that you've provided. I have one suggestion though - especially in case of the daily trainers / max cushion ones. One thing that I've noticed is that even your slow / casual pace is VERY fast compared to the many of us - or at least me ;) You are very fit, and your build is also comparatively slim. How you feel / percieve a shoe is definitely different than what a slow, casual, and probably heavier runner (like me) feels about a shoe. Case in point - Hoka Mach 4 - which was LOVED by many a reviewers, but when I tried it, I felt it to be relatively unresponsive. So would it be possible to collaborate with a runner who's may be at the other end of the spectrum than you in terms of build/speed etc. once in a while, and incorporate their findings in your reviews? Don't take it in a wrong way. I love your reviews, but this may give the reviews an additional dimension along with the stats. Cheers!

Interesting point. I'm only 53kg and also a slow runner and I too found the Mach 4 relatively unresponsive... and yet one night I did two 5km PBs in a row in them... I think they are really made for faster runners, yes!! I found no love for the NB1080 until after about 50-60km in them and suddenly started to love them at my slow paces. Sooo many people have recommended the Cloud Monster to me but I've a feeling that heavier people than me really like that one ... have you tried it by chance?

@@bev9708 haven't tried the cloud monster yet. Though I recently tried the velocity nitro 2, and Clifton 8, and I loved both of them! Novablast 3 is on my mind as well. I liked version 1, which is still in good shape. I hope version 3 won't disappoint me.

@@gorohit Ohh we really have similar taste... the Clifton is still my all time favourite shoe, like spending time with an old best friend. I do like the Bondi too, but not quite as much. I put 1000km on the original Novablast and they STILL feel like balm to sore legs... I'm thinking of snaggling another pair of them rather than the V3 or 2! And I only hear great things about the Velocity Nitro and so reasonably priced too!!

Rohit! Your comments packs a ton of value. So first thank you. The first thing that comes to mind is to encourage you to read the reviews on meta-endurance.com - we now have a team of testers and although none fits exactly the description you're making, it's more diverse than just me ;-) The second point is that paces don't really matter...what matters is the biomechanics at a certain pace compared to your baseline/threshold. What i'm trying to say is that we can compare my easy and your easy although the paces are not the same. Hope this makes sense. Thanks again for your continued support

I have the Cloud Monster and the Mizuno Wave Rider 25 and the ASICS Cumulus 23 already and they work well for me. Cumulus 23 is better for shorter runs because the cushioning on the front of the shoe is pretty minimal. I wonder if the Novablast 3 would really add much to my lineup. I tend to run at easier paces and I’m trying to do more longer runs. I am not a light runner (190 pounds). I don’t like the new Balance More V3. That shoe feels overly padded and ponderous with too much foam that is not energetic.

Hi Manoel, I use the Stryd pod for training but for those specific metrics I'm relying on the RunScribe pods. Hope this helps :)

Nice video! I was confused between Mach 5 vs Nova 3. As a cadence runner I guess I will go for mach 5 now as my next daily trainer. Thanks for that :) I was using nova 2 upto now and i liked the softness but nothing special other than that...before that rebel v2 was my daily trainer and it was best daily trainer for me until now. So my question is what you think of mach 4 vs mach 5, is there any massive improvement or buy mach 4 and save money? 😀 or skip this and wait for rebel v3🤔 confused again 😂
@AlexFilitti

Based on what you wrote, option 1: wait for rebel v3...option 2: get Mach 4. Option 1 being the priority option if it makes sense. Thanks for your comment, Tharun

@@AlexFilittiThanks for the great video review btw! I was cautiously optimistic about the Novablast 3 and I'm in the camp that it's the best non-plated daily trainer in 2022. It's a significant upgrade to version 2. It's lighter and bouncier and I look forward to putting it on for a daily run
