What I really loved about this scene. Was the moment, that Trilla sensed Vader's presence. The look of absolute fear on her face...sent chills down my spine the first time I saw it. I love the way Vader is portrayed in this.

Legit, I couldn't have asked for a better Vader intro. That ominous smoke followed by that thud and the first breath, but we just see Trilla, the primary antagonist, just shake in terror. Only thing I'll say is that Cere surviving that fall is kinda ridiculous... I've gotta say, they could've brought her back in the sequel as an Inquisitor. Oh, and for those of you who don't know, a sequel was greenlit a couple of months back.

This is why Darth Vader is one of the best villains in movie/comic/etc history. There is so much background to why he became this... monster. People have more of reaction when makes his intimidating entrance like that because he is a scary dude. If you remember in Rebels, Ezra described what it felt like when Vader walked in. "I feel... Cold." Because Vader carries so much that people can feel that hate. Vader's not crazy, he's not insane, bloodthirsty... He's just angry, which makes him a more unique bad guy.

Ben Sparks What I find also scary about the hate of Vader is that I mostly feel like the hate he has is hatred to himself. He must blame himself for what happened and the things he’s done. He felt responsible for the Jedi Order falling, He feels like he was the reason his lover died and he also blames himself for falling into the dark side in the first place. Which honestly in a way he has a right to blame himself. He’s fallen so much into the dark side that he feels like there isn’t any other choice he has until his son eventually brings him back from his darkness.

This is straight up the most intimidating that Vader has ever been portrayed as. He was always SUPPOSED to be this big bad guy that noone dares speak of. He was always supposed to be this juggernaut that if you meet him, you just know you're dead. And this is the first time i really felt that. It was perfect.

Not true. That's not how he was conceptually. He still had A LOT of power, second only to Sideous, but Lucus' conception is that despite ALL of his power, he still is just a shell (metaphor and literally) of what he was supposed to be, his true, Chosen One potential. A broken, defeated man, who's potency in the force is broken, compared to how Jedi days. However, his focus makes him stronger and more effective than ever. He still was a force, but a broken man, lesser than the Jedi he was supposed to be. Anakin is the living embodiment of the force (as is his family). Instead, he fell, tragically, into this broken man, cut off from the TRUE power he was supposed to wield. However, since the Disney retcon, Anakin did not lose his connection to the force, he never met his true potential, but he lost nothing. Like every sith before him, his power increased when tapping into the dark side. While he suffered on the inside. This Vader is better than what Lucus' was. However, Lucus' Vader was much more tragic, and you felt more for him. Which was the point. Star Wars is first and foremost about family. You look at Vader and see a big, scary imposing figure..which is what he was to the Galaxy. Look closer. I see that 23 year old angry, betrayed confused emotional kid who lost everything, and has nothing but anger and pain..all of which he has focused into rage. Anakin/ Vader is only 27 years old at this point in the Canon timeline. He was only 46 when he died. Crazy to think that Vader was so young

@@SirMan48 Wrong bud, he's always supposed to have been a super powerful being, even conceptually. Just read pre and post Disney source material, he's a badass in all of it. Lucas has stated that Palpatine is the most powerful sith of all time, and Vader is 80% as powerful as Palpatine, so yeah he's really strong and imposing. In the movies he dosen't go full apemode becasue he dosen't want to kill Luke, that's pretty obvious.

Don’t how to explain it, but it looked to me that Cal manipulated the pressure of the torrent long enough to use it to suck himself into the Ocean with Cere and BeeDee. Then Vader took over to protect himself so Cal and Cere didn’t get dragged back in.

It's a great bit of storytelling. Cere goes charging at Vader and you think there's going to be some magnificent fight scene. Instead, Vader just waves her off like someone would brush away an annoying bug. It immediately established how immensely powerful he is, and removes Cere from the stage so the action can now center on Cal.

@@JerBearVII Well, not entirely. He used his free hand to Force lift the Alliance fleet troopers. Also, let's face it: troopers are nothing compared to another Force user. As good as we've seen Cal become when handling a lightsaber, Anakin demonstrates that over the five years since Order 66, he's only gotten better in spite of the suit keeping him alive. He didn't even need his left hand to push Cere. The end of Episode III made Anakin look kinda like a chump, but this scene really made him live up to his reputation as the most feared Sith in the galaxy (after the Emperor).
