@@GGxKiwi Australia had weird rules with merging. If there are lines or not, which lane is the ending lane, signage etc, will determine who is legally right. Most people follow the zipper rule though. 1 left, 1 right back and forth. In this case the 4WD was in the wrong, but in the eyes of insurance both would have been at fault after that kind of stubborn driving, as the other driver failed to avoid an accident...IF it had occurred. Maybe 40:60 to blame.

@@jpHouse Not quite correct. if the lane markings (dashed lines) continue to the edge of the road or solid line then that lane ends and has to give way to traffice int the other lane and also has to indicate that they would like to change lanes. Where a lane marking stops and the 2 lanes become one withjout either lane ending then the car in front has right of way and the following car must give way ie zipper.
@KeppyKep2 жыл бұрын
@@GGxKiwi Both were in the wrong, but the 4WD more so. His lane was ending, meaning he had to change into the lane. Like in any lane change, you need to find a space and give way to other cars in that lane. There's an unwritten rule that the best way to do it is 'zipper' style, like others have said. So the 4WD was rude trying to jump ahead. However, both cars were extremely stupid in their persistence and likely would have been held equally at fault if there'd been an accident. If there's an idiot determined to get in front of you, it's best to just let them go, and make sure you give them a wide berth, becuase they've proved themselves to be an aggressive idiot.

Hey there guys. I was the driver in that footage where the dude high on ice smashed my window. People who watched it may have thought "Well why didnt you drive off?" Try doing that while frozen in fear. Yeah that was me. But if I had the courage to get out of my car and tackle him I would've. Well anyways NBN News stated that I escaped unharmed. That was about 90% true. The smashed window did cut my elbow a tiny bit but it was nothing serious. After calling 000 and stating what happened, I noticed there was more people that had suffered the same fate I did. About 5 mins later, Police showed up. I told the police driver to be careful going down the hill as he may be hiding down the side street (Which he was) And oh boy was I in for a show. The guy with the rock threw said rock at the police van and I watched 4 officers jump out and tackle him to the ground. I believe his name was Shane Smith who was from Cessnock, he pled guilty and is serving 10 years behind bars. Shane, if you are reading this, you owe me for that. $300+ EDIT: Just want to say that I am disappointed in the people coming in trying to talk absolute garbage to me saying "Well you shouldve just drove off" or "Omg you are such a coward for not facing your fears and taking him on". Well I had a freeze response so screw you for thinking im a coward. And my Autism doesnt do me any justice either. So I am sorry for "being a coward" even though this was the FIRST TIME this has happened. You did the right thing. Anyone telling you to have just driven off (or fought him) has no idea how a person can freeze up in the moment. You're definitely not the only one with a freeze response. @UC5OR9ueMMa-b5Mh6ksvo0pg as per nsw road rules (and most of aus are the same), when a lane ends and you are required to cross dotted lines to merge into one lane, the vehicle who has to cross lines must give way regardless. However if 2 lanes become one with no dotted line needing to be crossed (ie, left lane expires and the lane markings simply end) then whoever is ahead has right of way. In this case, the landcruiser had to give way, but simply chose to be a dick about it, driving illegally for some distance in what can only be a bike lane if anything

Why battle over 1 spot for that long ? I had a situation similar that and we would have crashed if I hadn't jammed the brakes to avoid it when he decided to try to race past at the very last second. I'd prefer to avoid the accident instead of be in the right and have to visit a panel beater. Got to remember that there are uninsured drivers out there with no money. If they crash you and you don't have full comprehensive insurance then you are up the creek. Can't get money out of someone without money.

@@MoronZilla Blindspot you say? You know, aside from the fact that the black car ended up IN FRONT of the truck, pushing the trucks steering to the right. How loud and rough is it in a truck at cruising speed on a high-quality well-made freeway? So loud and smooth that you wouldn't hear or feel one single thing? Wouldn't it be against OH&S for it to be soooo loud in a truck's cab? If only there was a youtube channel with dash cam videos that included clips of the inside trucks driving down the freeway where we could hear how loud it is inside a truck's cab. If it's so loud we wouldn't be able to hear truck drivers talking or hear the radio. If anyone knows such a channel, let me know. I'm sure your argument would hold up in a court of law.

@@j.kapiris seems like theres a whole heap of things he wasnt paying attention to at that moment. A good excuse to strip away his license. A large truck driver should have a higher level of professionalism. "I didnt see the car" isnt going to fly when its his DUTY to see the cars and not smash them into center dividers. I guess the solution is to start implementing the newer technologies being built into cars like radars and even small cameras that trigger the moment one indicates which reveals blind spots. Honestly I dont get how family cars got that feature before the massive great trucks which have always have blind spots that can swallow several vehicles at once

Very unlikely to be a case of overtaking and braking. (If it were the submitter would have included that.) More likely that the car was keeping strictly to the speed limit (which we can see on the speed display), when a truck came up from behind and began tailgating.

It's always two flashes for red light cameras, the first captures you entering the intersection with the red light, the second shows that you were in motion. Speed cameras don't need the second image as speed is captured from radar, but that intersection had both because they were using them for both speed and red lights.

I had to look this one up, he attacked 2 other vehicles driving along that road as well (unsure if before or after), the dashcam guy stopped just up the road and called the police, he then attacked the police vehicle with the same rock and was arrested, charged with various crimes all basically being types of assaults unsure what the final punishment was.
