They need to hard draw chundra, droplet or multiple imperms + me not having any another interactions than Colossus to even play the game. People seem to forget that Colossus' protection effect doesn't activate, so it works in the BP vs the lvl 10

I was scared of Tenpai. Bo1, g2nd, otk deck that can’t be responded to. However I forgot that Tenpai is forced to play HTs because otherwise bots would flood the ranks farming Tenpai as they couldn’t defend themselves. So bo1 isn’t an advantage for Tenpai. Its a detriment (because board breakers in MD are insane to the degree you could play Tenpai as a control strategy as they g1st go all out you break their board, survive the crack back via Superpoly and Droplet and Blackrose during their turn and kill on the next). So now I feel like with Tenpai being public enemy number 1 its a similar situation as in pokemon VCG and Mega Kangeskahn. Clearly it was the best however it never topped because everyone preaped against it. I as of now lost exactly one match against Tenpai (when I could construct my deck myself and didn’t play to farm the Proficiency Test). I would even go so far as to say that Tenpai atm is best in a DLink deck as a back up plan while DLink tanks the negates and actually can set up a board turn 1 (Tenpais wouldn’t be dead turn 1 as quick sync into Blackrose or Transendent is still insane).
@M1A2C.24 күн бұрын
Yeah my Snake-Eye/Fire King deck has been abusing Tenpai, when your deck forces you to go second against a handtrap resistant deck that also puts up insane boards there's really not much you can do as the Tenpai player. Even my Kashtira deck, which is pretty inconsistant can destroy Tenpai as long as i get a starter + any lvl 7 extender. Two Shangri-Iras and an Arise-Heart isn't fun to go up against, especially if you lose 4/5 monster zones and have to do your Tenpai OTK with a single Paidra on field.

I only recently got back into Yugioh with MD so take what I say with a grain of Salt, but I have been grinding ranked play up to Diamond with Scarclaw/Adventure engine and I have to say that it feels really good. You roll over Tenpai (only hard droplet draw is a bit rough) and with smart play you can work out wins against most decks. Yubel matrchup is also very interesting thanks to ScarKash. I also just like how scarpy and low to the ground it feels.
@Jackinthebox171928 күн бұрын

@@Jackinthebox1719 Yubel is actually an ok matchup. Thanks to adventure you have an omni negate and a bounce on your turn which is especially nice when going second. Dinomorphia is a very good Rogue option into Tenpai. The deck can pop the Field Spell and easily prevent Tenpai's plays, as Rexterm can shutdown the deck before and during the Battle Phase. Even under the Field Spell, Dinomorphia is favored because Rexterm is not an activated effect (only the attack reduction is). Ferret Flames is also insanely good to prevent them from Synchro summoning into Vorpgate (that guy is actually very annoying for Dinomorphia to deal with, 0 attack monsters are the bane of that deck), not to mention that between Sonic, Iron Thunder and Solemn Judgement, there is plenty of protection against backrow removal. Plus Solemn Strike and Intact provide handtrap protection for the fusion traps. I easily climbed to Master I this season playing nothing but Dinomorphia (from Rookie, I just came back after not playing for 7 months), even ending on a 5 win streak from which 3 duels were against Tenpai. The event was also really easy to farm from Fusion side, as Dinomorphia was completely unhit and the most common MU's were either Tenpai or Centur-Ion.

I've been playing Thunder up on Twitch, and here are my takeaways. 1. Thunder absolutely slaughters tenpai with access to multiple colossus and being able to justify zombie vampire and Archnemeses Eschatos(searchable via Melody of Awakening Dragon alongside Levianeer, Chaos Emperor, and Diabolos) 2. Colossus demands an answer by basically everything in the format and will almost always force them into an awkward line that also eats their S:P 3. The deck can pivot from Horus and extenders to more non engine including shifter on a dime and function relatively the same if you notice an uptick in which version is better when. 4. The deck requires a ton of knowledge on sequencing and being able to bait handtraps accordingly (i.e. recognizing when Grass is probably the weakest starter in hand but knowing you can eat the Ash because everything else will resolve) 5. Much like Bagooska pass, Thunder can often times just go Colossus pass under maxx C to give only 1-2 draws and sometimes is enough. Hopefully that helps anyone else interested in picking up the deck rn

Infernoble still never making on these lists is a crime. The endboard at best can be Double Link Charles(Spell/trap negate + pop), Baronne(Omni), & Gearfried(Monster negate), & Angelica’s Ring(Spell negate for Droplets, DRNM, & Super Poly). With sometimes S:P on field or PP in gy. Tenpai can’t play through it unless they open an ungodly amount of handtraps &/or shifter. Definitely a tier 2 deck in MD, Isolde is still legal & Invoker is crazy.

With plants, your endboard shouldnt be weak to boardbreakers. Tenpai needs to hard draw droplet, along with a great hand to play through the remaining interaction.
@strike448928 күн бұрын
Plant player here: problem isnt your endboard, if you can set it up you win 90% of times. Playing rosewhip isnt really a thing because its a brick and if you would have it on your endboard you would already win. Plants is very weak to maxx c, you can theoretically deckout your opponent but they will draw into handtraps so that aint happening. It is also weak to handtraps by themselves. Most times you loose its because your dryas search gets negated and your hand can only end on mudan set konkon sheet pass.

@@strike4489 I saw twitch chat say that pla nts had a weakness to board breakers, and I wanted to post why imo it shouldnt. With maxx c and handtraps, maxx c is a turn ender, thats something you accept when playing a combo pile deck. with the Raika and Aroma engines, I've been able to play through 1-2 handtraps much better.

@@snowm4n41 This is a Master Duel Tierlist, so sidedecking isnt really a thing to consider here. Yes, if you can Summon Hyperyton or Regulus, board breakers aren't an issue. If you end on Mudan + the Rikka spells, they kind of are. If your opponent for example draws Maxx C and Lightning Storm, you dont want to give them 30 draws so you end on the Mudan board and they can pop konkon, sheet and whatever else you had. To the "adding one soft brick to your 60 card pile deck can be worth it" - absolutely disagree. Just like cactus Bouncer, Rosewhip isn't an extender, she isn't a combo starter and also has no GY useage like sunseed twins has if you can discard that card with blend/evil seed. Your biggest weakness is bricking when playing plants and if you'd play it you would understand why adding an other "copy" (so another brick) of laurel/twin/regulus/konkon/sowing/any Handtrap/any boardbreaker/crossout/called by in the form of rosewhip feels terrible.

Dragon Link has an amazing Tenpai matchup because of Borrelend Dragon, with Borrelend on field Tenpai literally cannot kill you (unless they Droplet or Imperm it). Trident Dragion can hit for 6,000 3 times, it attacking into Borrelend will leave you with 500LP, that's the only damage they'll ever be able to do to you. Not to mention that Borrelend can spell speed 4 negate Trident (as long as the Tenpai player destroys Transcendant Dragion for Trident's effect). Borrelend pass is unironically an out to Tenpai. Other than that Snake-Eye/Fire King is still the best deck to me, it really bullies Tenpai when played well especally with all the different interruptions it has. Out of the big three meta decks in the current format; Snake-Eye, Yubel, and Tenpai, Snake-Eye is still the best, as it can reliably defend against Tenpai, while also having a good matchup against Yubel. Yubel is second because its also got a good Tenpai matchup, it's just not as versatile and adaptable as Snake-Eye. And Tenpai is third, still an amazing (and quite braindead) deck that is good against every deck in the format.

I haven’t really had many issues beating tenpai both as tearlament and now unchained. I think you just need to play chainable back row into the deck. Great example IMO is something like threatening roar you just remove the decks win condition/gimmick and it instantly falls apart it’s not gonna change lines and make 5 negates another card I find very powerful in that matchup is ice dragon since the entire deck is mono type a well times idp can end their turn and I have yet to see any ritual beast decks which I think is also completely fine with closed moon in the game now you can just link that decks field off and it’s GG. Tenpai is so free even the new inferno deck can gas them up I am shocked that’s not on sleeper tier here that deck very easily produces flood with feast access with a dev/on setup so you end on double deca + 1 large body to negate. The noid deck is very subtle though with the new link 2 they got enabling easy link climbing into princess on the way to flood your typically ending on 5 interactions I think this format is super fun the only annoying strategy in master duel currently is stun when they drop cards like difi macro and other cheesy floodgates. The only other thing I am not a huge fan of is tearlament being almost gone from the meta because the field spell hit it just seemed to be too large of a hit not only did you nerf their consistency which already could be a issue but you removed shufflers from the deck aswell after seeing field spells like sangan i really changed my perspective on tear field spell. Hell even older field spells like spyral resort were way more busted so I think they over shot nerfing that strategy. Kinda like when the TCG got shyvara to 1 then in the very next format you have full power unrestricted snake eye running around and people are questioning if the hit was even warranted. Tear in the worlds format was much stronger then ladder because of deck building constraints opened up the very versatile engine to be uniquely strong there on ladder though you were just being triple hand trapped and passing turn missing that field spell is such a huge deal you can’t get triple stopped and grab a schiren for example to use a negated rhino to make redoer so I think the strategy just ends up being too far behind the higher tier meta decks. Besides those complaints the format is good

It's wild to me that Maxx C, a card that is banned in the TCG, still averages six or seven dollars (Don't remember what the Euro conversion is, maybe 4,95 euro is closer to five dollars now)

Tenpai if just a strong deck, i think is still fine. However, the thing is Tenpai is the most easiest top meta deck to play it, even beginning to Masterduel, yugioh or returner can master this deck in just 10 minute. The good thing of Tenpai release it actually give some returner and new player to enjoy yugioh with top meta deck and deck is affordable not that crazy busted expensive like VV, dinomorphia and hero deck. It only become a problem when the deck been play by veteran player and tournament player play it which make the deck busted. This the good time for new player and returner to comeback to play yugioh since the Tenpai is ridiculous easy to play despite veteran player and tournament hate it, which in reality veteran player and tournament player make Tenpai busted. Let beginner enjoy playing Tenpai while for veteran and tournament as new challenge to counter the deck.

What about Phantom Knight? Fog Blade works under Summoning, and gryphon rider can negate the harpie's too. The deck's got a very solid gameplan against boardbreaker tenpai, though I guess they do kinda struggle against handtrap tenpai

I think that traptrix is a good deck to go against tempai... if they let you go first every time, you can build a bord and also have a way to defend your traps with arcnochampa... the problem? If they use their terrain... at that point, you would need a miracle to be able to summon the only traptrix that can brake cards on summon

im doing fine vs tenpai with pure unchained since u can play 3 thrust and go for any good trap, but the match up is naturally hard because of their fieldspell and Rage beign mainphase only. could be tier 3 maybe tier 4

What do you think about Chimera and their combinations?
@TheLamartian27 күн бұрын
Obviously weak to Shifter but I think the battle-indestructible Illusion monsters and Chimera the Illusion Beast specifically is a pretty decent counter to Tenpai. Even if they pop it, you can get it back with King of Phantom Beasts. You may not stop them dead but they usually can't otk, and your followup should be enough to finish them after. Droplet is a jumpscare though.
@denz942428 күн бұрын
What do you feel about Mikanko after Gen and Ken release? Bystials to tribute summon over Acid Golem are rare, and I can rip Droplet from Tenpai players hands with Talents. Going second it's decent because it's still a Mikanko deck.

Have you seen the vitual world sword soul deck? What would u rate it Tenpai has a hard time with it. Double Monster negate + 1 pop grave and field banish (non target) field to grave= banish floodgate massive attack reduction and a pop + if you want a battle position changer. Shen shen is also bigger than bident so they have absolutely no way to prevent getting floodgated unless they have a negate

@TCakes28 күн бұрын
Is this based on ranked? Because personally i've found VV gets the best results recently.
@bachouvenn356327 күн бұрын
4:41 Branded never plays Jowgen, it's just bad. People always think that Jowgen was banned because of Branded, but no, it was banned because of VV, they abuse the shit out of the card. To use Jowgen in Branded, you need a SPECIFIC unsearchable card, which is just very inconsistent. Branded has better cards to play outside of Jowgen, but generally you get a better end board + better follow ups if you play without a lock.

I main strikers and really loved playing it when it was just Yubel in the top. I always destroy them going second. This season with Tenpai, I always get fcked.
@browking816128 күн бұрын
So I think the actual best deck of the format is Ritual Beast and not Tenpai. Hear me out. 1- Shifter shits on the other tier 1 decks (FK, Yubel) and while it's not amazing against Tenpai it still benefits you more than it does them. 2- You don't have to worry about Tenpai mirrors forcing you to go 1st into auto-lose. 3- If you're forced to go first, you can just leave Protos/Eschatos and call Fire/Dragon, or leave a Bagooska and force them to draw the droplet. You can also opt for colossus, which is also good, but not as good. 4- There is no reliable way to handtrap them unless you have Nibiru and wait until after they summon Nochi. But guess what? No one is playing Nib right now because its useless against what people (wrongly) believe is the best deck. I'm a plant player, and when the new pack released I played against Tenpai a bunch, and got a whole lot of free wins from farming them. So much so that I got close to 1800 rating mid-season and almost broke into the top 10. But then the hype died down and I started seeing a lot more RB. My matchup against RB is awful and I gradually lost a lot of rating. There's also the fact that RB is the most represented deck among the top 10 ranked players. I don't think I ever disliked a deck as much as Ritual Beast, other than Floo. It's because RB's whole purpose is to floodgate your opponent out of the game. Colossus, Shifter, Bagooska, Protos, Eschatos, even their in-archetype boss monsters function as floodgates in some capacity. Ulti-Gaia basically functions the same way as Apollousa, and Ulti-Reirautari for some reason has a floodgate effect attached to it that prevents tributes. The only pieces of interaction they end on that are not floodgates are S:P and Steeds.

I use Ghostrick purrely and Tenpai match ups have been carrying my ass. I think I lost like once to them and that was when they droplet send reboot into a second reboot. Maxx-c can be tough but I don't even play called by because majority of times I can access small noir with a single draw and I'm on 14 hand traps cause of this.

@metalmariomega28 күн бұрын
I built Sky Striker to beat Tenpai in that one event and it was never an issue. But the kind of cards you have to run to ensure you beat it kind of gimp your game against other stuff, which is annoying, and the main reason to put it in "meh". I REALLY don't think Tenpai is a better deck at going 2nd(since it auto-loses whenever it fails to OTK while breaking a board is usually enough for Striker to win in comparison), just a better deck at OTKing, which makes a difference for ladder climbing speed but not much else.

I know you talked about Unchained but where you rank it? The tenpai match up feels really hard because Rage is dead so often. Also where would you rank Infernoble?
@VerGiLL1Күн бұрын
At least tier 2 imo, if you use the dark beckoning beast package it helps the deck a lot under Maxx C and it'usually Ash bait in case they have it so you can go into your normal Unchained combo after. Yeah the Tenpai mu is annoying but the deck still pretty good. Josh forgot that the reason why Unchained didn't take of In MD was not really because of Maxx C, sure that is the factor but the real reason is that we recieved the Unchained support after full power Snake Eyes for some reason.
