Thanks for the comparison. I bought WR-16 SE in October 2022 and my wife is quite happy with it. I ordered on Amazon USA and shipped it to India. The price of the radio was $100 & shipping cost around 80. It is now on a table near the kitchen and dining area. I switch it on around 6.15 am and my wife listens to it till 10.15 daily. For the new year bought HDR-18 on Amazon Canada for my son living in Toronto. We visited him this summer and I enjoyed kiss FM HD music. Planning to get WR-22 for my bedroom as I need remote facility and bluetooth. Was thinking of Tivoli but your video helped in taking right decision.

I'm glad it was helpful. Try avoid Tivoli Audio and stick with Sangen. I'm really not impressed by Tivoli Audio radios.

I've had a Tivoli model one for a long time. It still sounds great, but after a few years tuning became a nightmare. Every month I had to continuously turn the knob with energy to get it working again (a solution I read about on the web for the well-known tuning problem). It eventually became uncalibrated and I can no longer tune into some frequencies. I'll buy a Sangean, maybe the wr-22 or DDR3 models (I want the presets)

If ONLY I needed yet another tabletop radio, I'd definitely go with the Sangean in terms of sound and tuning, although the Tivoli does have the best retro styling IMHO. Thanks for the comparison!

I own both the older Tivoli Model 2 (with separate stereo speaker) and the Sangean WR-11. The Sangean is far better. To mitigate excess bass on the WR-11, either reposition the radio or put a large cotton ball in the rear bass port. I've done it and it works.

I actually like the Tivoli sound better. It seems a more authentic radio tuning experience, Also the sound is less compressed than the Sangean, which scores on clarity. Audiophiles would prefer Tivoli I believe.

I hope you don't mind me linking another comparison video between the two radios which has more extended musical playback A/B tests. Right in the first station (playing a rock song) I found my head spontaneously nodding to the music/ beats on the Tivoli. On the Sangean, no such effect. Even the voice of the female singer sounded so guttural on the Tivoli, producing the intended emotion while on the Sangean it sounded far less so. But of course, people look for different things in their music listening. I can imagine how better (clearer) talk radio would sound on the Sangean. You will have a much better reception with the Tivoli if you turn the tuner knob from one end to the other about 10 times. And that's something you need to do every now and then.

The reviewer detuned the station playing Led Zeppelin (100 FM) and therefore it sounded slightly distorted and this can be seen by the led being extinguished on the top receiver when he re-tuned (detuned) it just before comparing to the lower receiver (Sangean), thus it's not a fair comparison. Btw, if the Tivoli has an acual variable capacitor, it would potentially be better for DXing faint stations.

The Tivoli has far better reception being analog... it will allow you to tune in stations the Sanjean will not. Although you may hear static.

@gerry4b ..I had 2 Tivolis die on me..the AM ( MW) reception is terrible..the build quality is frighteningly bad and it's overpriced..

i own more than one of each radio. the sangean is superior. it has better bass, tunes and stays tuned better. and it costs much less than the overpriced tivoli. truth.
