An excellent presentation and great advice particularly for anyone without any prior knowledge or experience. I do have some experience with piano's having played as a child evolving somewhat later on into a love of all things music technology. However, I have been looking recently at a new portable piano (to replace an old Kurzweil K2500 which has seen better days - but still sounds awesome) and purchased a Kawai ES920 from a retailer in the UK (as I'm UK based). My decision was heavily swayed by your channel's thorough review of the ES920 (and also the comparison with Yamaha P515). Thanks for suggesting such a superb instrument, I've never considered Kawai before and on this occassion I took the risk of ordering online with no opportunity to try out first (due to lockdowns in UK). I'm pleased to report the instrument has totally exceeded my expectations. Kawai's piano sounds are outstanding and the action is superb.

Which one would be suitable for classical? I'm confused between yamaha p125 and fp-10/30 and kawai es110. I have quite a strict budget so kawai es110 seemed to be out of my budget in my country. Try out the Casio, Roland, and Yamaha. They all have more than one piano sound. I'm not sure how great the Yamaha is for note repetition either. It's ok for fast playing but the back of the key is noticeably heavier than the front.

My favourite composer, myuu, told me on instagram he records and gigs with a es110, I was stunned, he obviously uses a vst but still I didn't expect that, I was close to picking that one up but I didn't choose kawai es110 because it doesn't have usb type b, and I really want that to easily set up a vst or synthesia on my pc by tybe b to type a I had to choose between fp30 or p125, sound isn't really the most important thing for me anyway, for when I practice they're both good enough default, and if I'm ever going to record music for youtube I will use a vst regardless of the one I bought, I wanted a heavier more realistic action so I picked up a white fp30 with white wood stand with the white pedal board, the whole kit, man all I can say is: I am in love (: yet people argue how on fp30 speakers are beneath(i dont mind this cuz i play with headphones, and when I take out headphones I must play on volume 2 or volume 3 because max volume 5 is too loud and my neighbours hear it too hard, so yeah speakers arent a problem at all in my opinion) and there's only 1 voice thats good enough, which is the default piano sound, but I personally didn't wanna use any other voice anyway so whatever, pretty much all i play is classical, myuu or einaudi

I wish there was a relatively compact portable one that ticked all the points for action, sound and speaker+connectivity. I wanted to gift someone a portable piano, I know absolutely zero about pianos and can't go to a physical shop now anyway so I came to YT and think I watched every YT review and I still don't know what I should buy. It's either compromise on the feel, the sound or the connectivity. I can't believe there isn't a model that fits all the requirements. If you go to the higher price tier, that was my initial intention as I thought digital pianos would be more expensive anyway so I budgeted accordingly, you just get in the realm of the 50-60 pounds monsters the size of a small hippo.

@@AvaSun-yo2wy thank you! i increased my budget and started looking different brand/models. i was also considering roland fp90 (though it's a lot more expensive and not sure if rattling/clunking is a roland thing) and yamaha p515. thoughts?
@AvaSun-yo2wy4 жыл бұрын
Jungwon Lee it’s a great stage piano but depending on what kind of songs you like to play other brands like kawai are softer, Roland is brighter, Yamaha is more intonation or metallic.
@benjaminsmith22874 жыл бұрын
@@AvaSun-yo2wy They all have a lot of different piano voices that are quite adjustable on all of them. You don't have to use the default tone for any of them and you can "voice" them to alter their tone qualities.

Hi Merriam Music!!! I would like to buy a piano (one that I can move everywhere) with a WARM sound and under $1500-1800$. I don't need to have a lot of fonctions (metronome, record, just a few basic things, I'm more about a warm sound, a touch as close as a piano can offert at this price) What would you recommend? Thanks a lot! I'm from Canada, maybe I cannot have everything, I'm ain't sure about that. Thanks for you time!!!!!!

I decided on the Roland FP30. As far as sound, it was a tossup between the Kawai and the Roland. The Kawai was not available at my music store. I actually prefer the Roland piano sound over the Yamaha. The FP30 keys do feel heavy, but that's good training, anyway.

People who are here, would you recommend Es110 or p125 ? Why?
@adaezenjoku75274 жыл бұрын
Personally, es110 all the way. From what I've heard it has better dynamic range and sound. Aside from that I would say it all preference on whether you value a more authentic piano sound vs more features to use while playing and what's within your budget. I think stu actually has a video on this.
@kamilmorningstar4 жыл бұрын
I would go with Kawai, two main things about every piano are: action and sound. Sound is ofc personal, but imho both sounds good so it's a draw here. But all reviewers I watched said that action on ES110 is better. Unless you really need those additional Yamaha features (and let's be honest most of us don't), Kawai is just better as piano. I recently bought mine ES110 and I'm more than happy with my choice :)

As a professional opinion, the ES110 is MUCH superior to any of the digitals on this list for the price, especially for the action :)

are home digitals better than the portables?
@dh_hybrid91593 жыл бұрын
Depends on your choice i personally love home digitals much more as they feel more like an acoustic with sturdy exteriors which never move no matter how hard you play....if youre not planning on doing live shows or moving around the piano muchhh or have a problem with space .....
@bilbobaggins1382 жыл бұрын
I have a rather specific question about digital pianos. When you are holding sustain and play hard on low keys the entire piano should start to echo but the digital pianos i've played doesn't do that. How much would i have to pay for that to not be an issue?

kawai kdp70 or roland fp 30. which one u guy prefer?
@dh_hybrid91593 жыл бұрын
Kdp 70 is for a more aesthetic feel while fp 30 goes for more studio and tech feel.... obviously kdp doesn't have escapement or the feel that roland has but kdp has a mellow and detailed grand piano sound while fp30 is a bit deeper....all depends on preference...i would personally pick fp30 ...if you're thinking of a bit aesthetic go for kdp75 or ydp 164

@@dh_hybrid9159 oh thanks for your reply I found a few digital pianos with guitar tone voicings since I posted my question. I'm looking at the casio px-s3000 or Roland fp30x. There is a reason I'm looking for a digital piano with guitar tones. Songs I just can't physically play on a real guitar. I use the piano for the tricky songs as it compensates for my lack of hand motion in one hand

Oh that's great! I'll take another look around. Sorry if I was a bit rude! I don't know what it was exactly, some combination of accent and the clean casual yet professional look of the place said big city Canada but somehow with a more Ontario vibe. Which is funny because I've spent a grand total of about a week in Ontario, so I have no clue what I'm basing that on.
