I like both, but i would always go with Omega. The design is iconic and the case ist just beautiful. the Oris is very generic and pretty boring and you can’t put on the straps you want, for example leather or a NATO. The Omega Movement is higher resistant to magnetic fields, and it´s proven for many years. The Oris gets shipped with a faulty movement and no one knows if the 10 years service intervals are realistic. I really like both and dońt hate on Oris, the best would to buy both.

I go with Oris because: 1. Independent company 2. 120h power reserve - twin mainsprings ! 3. 10y warranty !!! 4. 10y recommended revision !!! 5. Better anti-magnetic protection (about 30 anti-magnetic components) 6. 28’800 A/h, 4 Hz 7. Design (subjective) 8. Price ! Cons: 1. Minutes jumps (when pull out or push back the crown) - there is a reasonable work-around so this is not a deal-breaker… 2. Brand image…

I just bought the Oris over the Omega Seamaster. Picked the brawn over the panache.

There’s something quite dated about the Seamaster design. I think it’s the skeleton hands and the scalloped bezel. Not keen on the silver dial version. I think it looks better in black. The Oris has a lovely dial but would prefer a black bezel.

As an owner of 2 Aquis (Source of Life and this Calibre 400) I am of course biased 😁. There are a few details that I just don't like about the SMP. The font used on the bezel looks too wide and the date placement should be closer to the edge. I also don't like the handset. If I had to buy an Omega diver it would be the Planet Ocean.

ORIS does it for me. The helium release screw on the left looks stupid, probably would of looked better next to the crown.

Great review and comparison. I really want to choose the Oris because of the new movement and the fact that it is different. I see people wearing Rolex. Omega and Tudor pretty regularly - never seen an Oris in public. So that aspect is attractive to me. I think they are both good looking watches so that is a tie to me. What concerns me is the long term availability of parts for the Oris in house movement. Yeah, the Omega has an in house movement as well but I feel like parts and service might be easier longer term (25+ years). I'm not an expert - just my opinion.

OMEGA Seamaster! And I really don't understand why some people are complaining about the helium escape valve, which is one of the things that characterizes the Seamaster 300M.

I just prefer the earlier model without the escape valve. It's cleaner looking. I feel the same about Cyclops dates. It's a preference.

Oris made Omega look cheaper and explains why Omega is only brand conscious due to marketing. The second hand movement is one of the most important part of the watch and the smoothness is buttery on Oris, I can look at it for minutes. Compare Omega with Tudor or Mido. Oris is of different standard. By no means I'm saying Omega is bad but, they are double priced considering the aspects it offers.

I prefer Oris. Their watches are very pretty & not overly flashy. Omegas are nice & all, but to me.... they don't really look much different than Bulova's.

I’m more impressed with the oris but the one I want is the oris whale shark it has like the closed omega back like most omega not the open back and a whale shark instead or the omega seahorse portion of the sales goes to saving the whale shark 🦈 and it’s a GMT watch to I think this oris smashes Tudor or omega in ten years it will be held superior at least this model

Gloves of divers are way grippier than bare skin, also you dont want the bezel to rotate unintentionally with those spiky teeth protruding. Omega bezel is the best ever for the purpose they are made, but the common bezel looks better imho and of course none of the above will ever be in a depth of more that 2 meters.
