One thing you can use to help it come out of the container is a mold release. I use this when using resin projects. It helps it come out of its container without damaging it.

Yes, that could be useful. Thankfully with the silicone it’s flexible enough to be able to get it out without damaging it. But the mold release would make it much easier. Thanks for the input. Hope you’re doing well!

Great idea! I'm miking these in bulk for my STB kits and for TECC programs. Thanks for the 3D Plans. I plan on doing the tubing with the "blood" pump. I'll let you know how it goes.! Thanks again!

Good content. Thanks for the info! I could never justify spending the $$$ on a real wound packing trainer for self-training, but I can justify making one of these.

Exactly! Silicone isn't cheap and to make quality products out of silicone take fancy equipment and vacuums and such. But you can skip some of that if you are doing it in small batches for personal use. Glad to see this is helping people be able to train.

I stumbled across this video in search of a cheaper way to train bleeding control. I’m not real clear on his to add the IV tubing in order to have a liquid supply to the wound channel. Any help would be appreciated.

You can take any type of tubing and place it in the mold before pouring the silicone and have the end of the tubing right up against the wound mold. Once you pour the silicone and then remove the center wound mold, you will have some tubing embedded in the wound packing prop. IV tubing is one type of tubing to use because it’s readily available for most EMS trainers and you can easily color the fluid from an iv bag to simulate blood.

Check out Smooth-On Dragon Skin 10 NV. That what we use for all our task trainers. Good balance of feel and durability.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I figured there had to be a better option than the craft mix I found. Lol

@@SixEcho Also do a test of the silicone against whatever plug you are using as the positive. Platinum cure silicones can be inhibited by certain materials, some 3D resin being one of them. Or seal the plug with something like Crystal Clear.

@@lifeholdstrategic good to know! I might reach out for some tips in the future when we gear up for some of our classes. Would love to talk more in depth with people who have experience with silicone.

Hey man, I know I'm late to the party but is there a way to add food coloring or something to get the look of blood
@SixEcho

Sure thing. There are some good fake blood recipes out on the web as well that also thicken it up to make it more realistic. Great training aids once the students have the basics down and you step it up with scenarios.
