In regards to down vs synthetic, wouldn't down provide a lower weight, not lower volume? Isn't it the volume (or loft) of the down that's providing the insulation value ?

There’s a lot of jackets and coats out there that equal or better the jackets on this list. Other Rab options, Mountain Equipment UK, Mountain hardware, Fjalraven has a couple models that are great and a few others. I do think that many Canada goose jackets are overpriced. I do believe most if not all of them are still made in Canada though. They do use duck down in many of their jackets because it’s cheaper. But yeah, you pay for American made and you pay for marketing. I mean I remember seeing Daniel Craig wearing one of their jackets in 007. So yeah, that kind of marketing isn’t cheap.
