I don’t think I’ll ever get the obsession with weight. Why would I pay more to have a less durable product? Yes it’s nice for backpacking but then you have to worry about every little branch you come across. Companies should offer more 30+ denier jackets I think we can handle a few extra ounces lol

Thanks for mentioning the Rabb, thats the only other brand in comparison. I bought the REI stonehenge and going to compare it against the Beta Down to see the differnces. Great Vid thanks

Besides the stats, how do you rate them in terms of warmth? How does the Stellar do with its 5+ ounces compared to the others? And how many ounces of Down fill in the Beta Down?
@Engearment17 күн бұрын
The Stellar is incredibly warm for the weight. We have another female writer - Kate Agathon who did a write up on our website - Engearement.com it as well. I do not know how many ounces of down are in the Beta Down, but I would guess 5+ oz easily.

The best jacket is the one that fits you well, which means you’ll actually wear it. Example: I have a RAB electron pro for down. Other than everything in the Montane or Kuhl lineups, the electron pro fits me far better than anything in down from the heavy hitters. Actually, It’s the only RAB, other than their Microlight alpine, that fits me comfortably and correctly. I’m an XL , 44+/37-38/42. I love Arc’teryx, but it’s is a poor fit for me: no mama bear in their lineup. The 43 to 47 chest jump defies sensibility.

Any thoughts on the Rab Microlight?
@jorisev18 күн бұрын
I bought a microlight alpine last year. Very pleased with it, but it is on the heavier side for a down jacket. I plan to use it for many years though, and it looks like it will handle that just fine.

The OR Helium is really nice. Durable and warm with a nice neck lining compared to the Arc’teryx. Cerium seems cheaply made with a thin zipper.
@EngearmentКүн бұрын
Agreed - the OR Helium is an excellent jacket and underrated. OR gear is such a good value.

Sean, I also wear ex large in Arc’teryx but was looking at the alpha parka and nuclei sv parka to wear casually. Should I size down to large since they are normally meant for belaying? Have you ever tried either of these on and if so how was the fit. Great channel and good work by the way.
@Engearment18 күн бұрын
Hello friend! Thanks for the nice note! I am bummed, as I do not have experience with either of those, so I can not offer legit advice. Sorry! I hope you get a chance to try them on and find the best fit.

I have the Arcteryx Alpha parka, and am usually a size LG in their jackets, I did not size down (got the LG) and it fits great (as you might imagine). I'm 6'1", 195 lbs.

Hey, I am a BIG fan of Rab and have been for years. However, I did not have any current Rab down jackets to test out, therefore offer in this review. I want to keep this review as current as possible and not rely on past years (which I have many) down jackets. - to be as accurate as possible for the viewers. FWIW - I am a big fan of Rab and think they make excellent products. Take care!

They are both great. If you don’t mind the shiny face fabric, TNF is great. If you want more subtle aesthetic and recycled fabric, Patagonia is the way to go.
