@f308gtb19774 жыл бұрын
Karl, one slight correction if I may: (I’m sure I’ll explain poorly) angular deviation isn’t logarithmic, or exponential by distance. It doesn’t double with each addition of the initial distance. (It would only double each time you double the distance.) If you miss by 1” at 10 meters, you would have missed by 2” at 20 meters, true, but you’ll just miss by 3” at 30, not 4”, and 4” at 40, not 8”, and so on. So you’re right in what you say about the difficultly of the hit growing at distance, except for the use of the word “double.” That’s it! Awesome shooting and great video! Thanks for everything!

What do you think of using red dots on pistols? Awesome work and support hand effectiveness!
@TacticalRifleman4 жыл бұрын
Enclosed Red Dots on pistols are the way of the future on all combat guns; just like adding Red dots to rifles back in the 90s... no one believed me back then. Now, I currently run mostly iron sights on pistols because most of my students do. However, again, it is the future of all combat guns.
@Libertarian_Neighbor4 жыл бұрын
MM I converted. You have to commit to 20-50 hours of dry fire practice and about 1000 rounds down range to get good. I thought I made a huge mistake after the first range trip. It’s not for everyone. Try it out first if you can. Don’t put it on a carry gun until you have it mastered. My 2 cents. P.S. For what it is worth, I still don’t shoot as well as this gentleman does with irons and his off-hand in freezing cold wind. Respect!
@MM-bg7in4 жыл бұрын
Hogh308 I’ve tried twice. First time was really poor. Second time much better but not as dialed in a iron sights. I’m a little older shooter so it should help but I need time training to focus on seeing the target only and not shifting to the red dot. Hard to do and I feel silly when running something like a dot torture test.

100m should be standard pistol shooting on a torso sized target cool drill.
@marsoelflaco57224 жыл бұрын
What's the sight picture at distances beyond 25 yrds? Doesn't it get to a point where the entire sight is covering the target.? I understand sight alignment; keeping it steady and not upsetting that alignment during the trigger pull (keeping that anticipation in check); and following through; (for distance shots) keeping the gun on target until the recoil has settled after the shot. There's alot to consider and there's alot of discipline involved with distance shooting. Can you explain what we should be seeing?...An insight on sight picture. 👍✌
@TacticalRifleman4 жыл бұрын
I shoot a Glock, so all my Glocks shoot "Low" at 80 meters... so I am actually lollypoping the target back past 70 meters. No issue. Back on center at 120 meters, but still just aimming center... can still see the top half of the plate. Add that you arms are moving around anyways, and I've never had problems finding the target. Hope that helps. TR
@marsoelflaco57224 жыл бұрын
@@TacticalRifleman Thanks for your feedback. I truly appreciate that you took the time. I also shoot Glocks. Glock 22 and 27, both in .40 S&W. I learned something today, thanks. Also, not to be a dick, but it's always good to have your weapon pointed down range at all times, if that is what I see at 13:35.
@TacticalRifleman4 жыл бұрын
I disagree. This is a private range. We teach combat shooting. Combat is a 360 degree range. That includes up and down also (think stair cases and roof lines). Rather, we religiously focus on keeping your weapon pointed in a SAFE DIRECTION. I know that is what you really meant. However, I can be inside of a vehicle with 5 operators, and if I have to mess with my gun, I CAN do it SAFELY by FINDING and POINTING the weapon in a SAFE direction. I encourage every "combat shooter" to think outside of the square range mentality. Overseas, we eat, sleep, and breath with our weapons. We are comfortable with them. You can NOT be comfortable with weapons if you are stuck on a square range. Not to be a dick, but it's always good to have your weapon pointed in a safe direction. Thanks for watching, TR

Pretty sure he's referring to the cheapest 9mm that will run somewhat reliably, because it's not worth firing the most expensive brass rounds at steel targets. You get more or less the same effect and training for a fraction of the cost.
