Great comparisons Lisa! Even though I love affordable products, and I have a couple drugstore foundation favs, in general I do think foundation is worth investing in…not only for overall quality but for sure the shades!

Learning so much! I was never a fan of foundations because of the feel… and now at 55, trying to figure out what type to try for a light, silky foundation that doesn’t accentuate my pores. Anyway, appreciate the product comparisons as it gives me ideas on what to try.

Great video.. A better comparison for the EL foundation maybe the No7Protect and Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation (Target & Walgreens have it); however the shade names are really off. Also for the LA MER foundation I have seen it being compared (and this was years ago) to the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint.. It was Kassie Thatcher (Shades of Kassie) whose video I watched.

Sometimes the drugstore foundations are better, I have Chanel, Estée Launder, Lancome, Smashbox, Two Faced Born This Way, Fmg Cashmere, and a couple others, plus I have No7 Lift and Luminate, Fit Me by Maybelline, Color Stay, Pacifica, Born This Way by NYX and they are equal and as beautiful on my skin as the high end ones, some are even nicer foundations, sometimes you’re just paying for the bottle, I have not found one yet I love as much as the No7 Lift and Luminate, it’s my holy grail foundation hands down. I also think skin type and climate play a huge factor. I have dry sensitive skin and for my skin and climate the drugstore ones listed rival my high end at any given time. For me it’s the primer I use that makes the huge difference in how my foundations wear. This is just my experience thou.

Watched one of your videos for the over 50’s . I’ve started using concealer on my eyes . Used a cheap eye liner and smudged it and even can just use they little eat of makeup and I look much better. I just found Keith’s brightening and line reducing eye cream , it really good. I don’t use concealer or makeup under my eyes as have lines . Just wanted to say thanks to you. You’re amazing !!

I believe a better dupe for the KVD is the Covergirl Simply Ageless Cream Foundation in the round glass container.

For the Estee lauder dupe is it really a dupe when you have to buy multiple shades?
@LisaMonique2 жыл бұрын
I think dupes are never dupes. I think they can get you a similar look, but still aren’t the same (and I find luxury brands are superior to drugstore, even if you can get a similar look) but multiple shades of drugstore is still usually less $$ than a single shade of a department store brand.

After night time skin care, I often put on l'oreal pro glow & infallible concealer before bed (although l'oreal ANYTHING is my favorite foundation). I use flat/thin foundation brush (looks like a paint brush), NEVER apply with a sponge or, fingers or stippling brush. I lightly bounce a sponge dampened with setting spray AFTER placing foundation.

La Mer is my all time favorite foundation but try to only use it for special occasions when I know I’ll be photographed. I find that L’Oréal Infallible is the closest to La Mer, that is the one I use on a day to day basis. I’ll continue to purchase La Mer since I love it & they have a shade for my exact skin tone. Other than those I also like Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation. I’ve gone through a few of each of these. It was nice to see your take on the foundation.

thank you = wonder what most think of the futerist compared to the double wear
@LisaMonique2 жыл бұрын
When it first came out many people hailed it as a better alternative. I actually now think of it is two different, and very different, products.. Estee Lauter Double Wear is for coverage. It’s if you need that full coverage foundation, or even or just having those full coverage days. The futurist is more like a day to day foundation when you need a lot of SPF. It is definitely a Dewey almost tacky finish on my skin where is the double wear tends to set down a little bit more and is drier. It can really suck the moisture out of my skin so I have to mix it or apply it on a layer of moisturizer first. But out of the two it is my favorite.

Hi Lisa, This video is awesome. I'm very interested in trying the Makeup Forever Foundation and the Kat von D Balm. You tested two of my very favorite foundations, the Futurist and Tient Idole. I've used both versions of the Infallible foundation and the Age Perfect Serum foundations. They are good foundations but I wasn't pleased with the shade range for the Age Perfect. IL Makiage is my go-to foundation for special events; it's very similar to Double Wear but not as heavy. Hope you are enjoying the weekend!
@LisaMonique2 жыл бұрын
I will have to give Il Makiage another try. people have asked about it and I first tried it when my channel was very new and I didn’t understand how skin care underneath can drastically change how a foundation works and so it was a little drying and heavy for me. But now I think I would I would know how to start with a freshly moisturized skin and see if it goes on better.

This was a fun video and super interesting. The only thing is we did not get into how the products compared in performance throughout the day. For all of us grown-up girls our foundation is really important. Especially when it comes to our “ fine lines” aka wrinkles, and our dryer post menopause skin. Overall all of the products looked lovely on your skin. I wore Mac Studio Script for a decade. That is a very thick matte foundation, which I loved 🥰. Now… it looks awful and it is very aging on my older skin… I am loving all current trend of Glowy/Dewey complexion products. Just about every brand has put out these types of foundations and I just love them on my mature/dry skin..👏👏👏👏👏

Hv zero from Makeup Forever or Milani, not even a lippie. IT Cosmetics and I dont get along, never hv worked out why but will never buy from them again. All things Infallible work for me tho. Thot the Maybelline was 24 HR, got it after Jeffree Star raved about it, seldom use it now as my one age spot is going away so no need for full coverage any longer. This mustnt hv been easy on yr skin but I LOVE dupe videos, thx so much Lisa and God bless you & yours!

I could be wrong but I thought natural light meant standing IN the actual light not next to the light but in the shade because otherwise the natural & window light was virtually the same. Thanks for the in depth comparisons of these popular foundations Lisa. This helps us all make better purchasing decisions.

A lot of windows have UV tints to them and can affect the color...but it’s still considered “ natural light” because it’s from the sun. In this video, I’m both indoors and outdoors.

Gosh, you are so lucky with your skin tone! Foundation too light? eh, you can still make it work. Too dark? eh, that works, too! Too Yellow? Too Pink? It all works! Me? Well, if mine is too light/dark or too pink/yellow by a FRACTION OF A SHADE, I look like the corpse bride! AUGH!

No foundation is worth $135, that’s just insanity. A woman over 50 like myself with some fine lines and wrinkles can find a beautiful foundation that doesn’t cost the same as a microwave I just bought. The makeup industry needs to just stop with these outlandish prices.

There is no dupe for LaMer . A dupe is thrown around too much. A dupe would include similar ingredients. Ingredients matter to me .

The BIGGEST difference between the Estee Lauder and the Loreal is the wear time. EL will last all day (over 9 hours). I love the Loreal, but I am always hard-pressed to get more than four hours out of it.
@LisaMonique2 жыл бұрын
I am testing out setting sprays and primers trying to get some of these other foundations to last longer. I’ll let you know what I find out in a future video
@marynall72802 жыл бұрын
actually, I own both foundations. If I need one to last a really long time I wear the EL. If I don't need a long wear time I use the Loreal. I don't really see them as a dupe for each other because of the wear time. If I could only have one it would be the EL. Sometimes you just get what you pay for, and sometimes you don't. The Urban Decay All Nighter will extend the Loreal, but if you are going to have to buy another product, why not spend the money and buy the one that lasts? IMO.

Really? It looks good on my skin. So much so that I bought a lighter shade to use when I wasn’t quite so dark! I’m sure it depends on your skin type in what you are using underneath, as well as how heavy coverage you need! It does provide a lot of coverage but I usually sheer mine out.
