There is not...in fact usually the more expensive the cream the more likely it is to cause problems, lol. "Serum" is a word the cosmetic companies devised. The term "serum," to a dermatologist means what is left over from blood after clotting factors and cells have been removed

I opened it to find black toothpaste! I also use an electric toothbrush so you can imagine the polka dot mess in my sink. :-/ I did try a charcoal peel off mask once last year. It was so painful to remove, my eyes were watering the entire time! And the worst part is that it didn't do anything to clean my pores that my cleansers could do. In fact I ended up spending another half hour scrubbing off the black/gray residue from the perimeter of my face. The only masks I use now are moisturizing that can be rinsed or wiped off with a damp cloth.

What I love about American drugstore products is that they always list the active ingredients (and disclose the percentages) and the inactive ingredients. In my country, manufacturers are not required to do that and they just list the ingredients from the biggest to the least amount so I often don't know at what percentages the actives are.

I used to be a “ Consultant”. Getting the ingredients in the products was impossible. And I sold it. The best was the heavy pink moisturizer. I’ve always had dry skin and that was great but had fragrance for sure. When consumers wanted to know ingredients, that’s when Mary Kay ran into trouble.

My ride-or-die body skin care moisturizer is the Cera-Ve SA Cream for Rough & Bumpy Skin (it's got 3 essential ceramides). My Dermatologist recommended this for my rough & bumpy skin areas (can't remember the exact name of the condition), I get it mostly on my upper arms & the top 2/3 of my back. It works quickly & rids/reduces the feel, appearance & itchiness of the bumps while hydrating the skin well. CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT!!!

I have personally tried biome charcoal it was drying, burning, and reddening. But this was before I had found your channel and decided to not use many products on my face.

Thanks for sharing... i imagine charcoal on the face is very drying, and in combination with salicylic acid is probably even more so

On the CeraVe sunscreen, I buy Hard Candy's pigment drops the lightest one at Walmart and use one small drop in it to get the rid of the white cast. It works well.

Dr Dray i heard that mixing anything to a sunscreen messes up the spf. Can you clarify this for me please? Mineral sunscreens give me terrible white cast.

"You're not a barbecue," lol. My favorite cleanser is the Olay Gentle Clean Foaming Cleanser for Sensitive Skin and CeraVe Hydrating cleanser to remove eye makeup. Creamy cleansers seem to give me small breakouts, and the Olay works really well for me. Favorite moisturizers are the Neutrogena Oil Free and the CeraVe PM. Moisturizing my skin while wet has hydrated my undereyes better than any eye cream. Thanks for being brave enough to talk to yourself in Walgreens!

Question: What kind of alcohol is bad in skincare? I noticed you mentioned the first one is good but it has tons of alcohol and parabens! So diff than what we’re used to hearing
@firstnamelastname90515 жыл бұрын
Alcohol denats, ethanol, and benzyl alcohol are terrible for your skin. Very drying and will age you. Stearyl alcohol and cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are fatty and moisturizing. So great for your skin. Good rule of thumb: anytime you see an alcohol in a product, look it up to see if it is safe. There are tons of different alcohols and some are mixtures that contain high percentages of ethanol. (Which is terrible) So just be safe and look it up haha.

I agree that you should totally buy generic brand everything when you can. I use the CVS brand "Hydroboost" and it is literally identical to the Neutrogena one. I also use the Equate brand of my coal tar shampoo for scalp psoriasis. Works fabulously.
@DrDrayzday7 жыл бұрын
generic all the way
@liseerenee6 жыл бұрын
Dr Dray, have you done a video on how generics are formulated the same? The name brands act like they’ve got some highly secretive exclusive formula, but the ones right next to it have the same ingredients. Sorry if this sounds rudimentary; I just really love to learn all that I can about these things.

Do you recommend putting tea tree oil on acne?
@xXGreyageXx5 жыл бұрын
Dilute it if anything grape seed oil or olive oil / any other natural organic carrier oil your not allergic to
@jbella_935 жыл бұрын
1. not recommended bc it's an oil 2. its heavily fragrant & can irritate the skin when it sits on the skin. 3. it dries out the area but then again so does tooth paste so it's really at your own risk? tea tree is usually recommend on piercing scars, scalp treatments, for the feet etc not really for ance
