Best Early Season Lawn Application | RGS AIR8 Power Hit

My all time favorite lawn application has always been my POWER HIT, RGS Air8 Power Hit (others call it a compaction cure as it is liquid areation, BUT IT IS so much more!!)! You may ask, does liquid areation work? Check my lawn over the past 3 years results. The best early lawn season application you can do, is one to open the soil up, to lest it breathe! Last year during the summer months, when it got above 85 F out side, I added Dthatch to it and made my Super Power Hit! This has been a product combination that has worked for me since 2018, and had taken my lawn to the Next level, pun intended. I have been using Greene County fertilizer bio stimulants for 2 solid years, and my lawn is showing it. It’s drawing more from the soil, during the spring, even when I missed my winterizer application. In my opinion, soil amendments are the number one thing we need to target for our grass, and our lawns!

I just started using this last year on a section of my lawn that seemed to stagnate with respect to improvement. It's now matched the rest of the lawn and having that uniformity really improved the look of the yard. I have a Turf-type tall fescue and KY bluegrass mix. Temps are still dropping into the 20s at night where I live, but should start to heat up over the next couple weeks and I'm getting excited to start my lawncare routine again.

Over time, as it amends the soil and things even out, those stagnant areas will catch back up and excel, as mentioned! Lol it’s nice to get the passion back for a solid green lawn, as the spring itch returns, knowing that problems from seasons past are a thing of distant memory! Propeat - YES, RGS - YES, Air8 - YES. Haven't tried Dthatch. The first three are also my favorite products. I use these three mainly throughout the year and 7-0-0 and 0-0-2 in the Summer.

I use Scott's Pennsylvania mix and Kentucky blue grass seed. Scouts weed n feed. I actually detach the lawn every 3 yrs with my sun joe dethacher. Rgs,dethatch and air8 once a month from may to October. Also ill squeeze in bio stimulant and green power n-xt is a lawn changer my neighbors hate my guts😂😂😂😂😂

Power hit didn’t fair well for me, but I now know why. I drain nutrients fast with the sandy clay loom soil. I use the Bio-Stims monthly at 3oz per 1/k.

Hey Jeremy, I am beginning the second season in my lawn (moved into this house about a year ago and added about an acre to the lawn via land clearing - there's whole other story about the work involved there). I'll be giving the Air-8 and RGS combo a shot. With the size of the lawn, irrigation is a challenge and anything to help it through the summer months is what I need to do. Oh, I am zone 6a with a mix of rye, Kentucky BG, and fescue.

This is good for relaxing and getting it to establish, but for water coverage, check out this video: How To Save $$$ and Have a Greener Lawn | WITH PROOF This will help with irrigation issues, if watered in correctly. It will retain moisture in the soil, where you need it. This combo will help a lot!

I'm SE Pa. Heavy clay based soil. Been adding 200 lbs of sand each yr for the past 5 yrs to help loosen up the soil. I use Scott's weed n feed and preen weed killer for lawns. Applied spring, mid summer and fall . Not one weed☺️👍👍 grabbed N-ext last yr. Air8, RGS, Humic and a bio stim. I use Scott's Pennsylvania mix grass seed and KTB seed. Nice thing there isn’t a minimum amount of time. I tell people 1x a month on the Power Hit (RGS air8) is amazing, but if it makes sense to do it every two weeks, it’s effects will compound. Personally I like monthly at max rates (9oz air8 and 3 oz on RGS (above 85 degrees)).

You definitely need to mechanically aerate those compacted areas. Yes, yes air 8 is awesome but why not use both? (I do and most of my compaction issues are resolved within 2 years). This season will be the true tell.

Hey Brodey, I don’t understand why “I would” (this is my beliefs, and am I in no way discouraging you or others) use a method, that pokes holes 2-4” deep, every 6-8”, that I presumably will not fill with another medium (sand / compost/ etc, as the golf courses do to keep a permanent soil change), that will be filled in with the same dirt over time... as I assume you do not still have those holes from 2 years ago? If you are referencing John Perry’s, the owner of GCF findings in these video series (Air8 series, with the university of georgia kzbin.info/www/bejne/rH-Yp4GeftV_gZI), it works, as a combo, but my brain asks why pay for something that isn’t a long term fix, when I can continue to apply a fix that goes deeper and amends the soil with RGS through deeper longer roots and root cycling, more times then 2 times in a year at only 6oz (recommended full rate is 9 oz per 1k), the minimum rate. I have had great success with my apps, from my manual compaction issues from an excavator, by using Air8 and RGS, roughly 2-4 times a year. I’m looking at long term effects for my money and time.

Dude I just got all my nxt products. One question I have . I had some dandelions in my yard. Not much but I sprayed some stuff down to kill it but not the lawn. My grass is fairly tall . Can I mow it then put the rgs with ar8 after.

Yup, sure can. Just wait like 3 days after your spray your weeds to mow, so that it can get all the way down to the roots (Unless the instructions say something different).

No, I calibrated my sprayer to me... different process and if your interested, I’ll send you the technique. I mix those rates (6oz RGS and 9oz of Air8) per 1k of area sprayed.

I’m so bummed for you guys n gals up there... it truly is fire of a product. So I always use 1/4” of water to water in all my liquid apps. Right now, water is off, but I have mother nature’s water works kicking for a change in my area! We had .75” last night... When you use a sprayer like I do, you have to water it in, as it’s water dilution vs concentration. That is why John/Allyn, etc recommend a hose end.... but I just can’t with a hose end.. (I think this is why u asked, but I’ve written ☝🏻 already) up So with Air8, normally the further you can get it to push with water, the better. So as you get that 1” of water down for the week, it will push the Air8 further through the soil profile opening up more and more. As the RGS does it thing for the roots.

We are not hurting for choices here, there is a manufacturer that ships Canada wide about 48 kilometers away and they have a wide selection just no small sizes.

@@Arlong1776 nope, cause I don’t want people using my technique unless i know they understand. Cause if they mess it up with the wrong products they can cause issues . Reason I don’t talk about how much water to use, just product rates per 1k , which you picked up on here. I leave the water dilutions out on purpose. I know how to teach people who want quicker techniques how to calibrate and plan for quicker applications, with no issues, but under my guidance.

@@TheGreenerLawn Sorry dude I do not know how if you post very precise instructions it's a problem. Designate the products, and using the wrong products will be on them because you specified which ones to actually use. I do not understand this at all
