Michelin Singapore Street Food 🇸🇬 Singapore Street Food 🇸🇬 Best Place to Eat in Singapore
Everyone talks about chicken rice and that it is a must try when visiting Singapore. So, I went to the most popular hawker centre in Singapore, Maxwell Food Centre in Chinatown. I heard of this place called Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice is a go-to place for chicken rice. I followed the recommendation of others and tried their chicken rice. Wow, now I understand what all the hype was about. Amazing chicken rice and such a fun experience visiting Maxwell Food Centre.
Of course, I tried other popular dishes, such as Bak Chor Mee, Laksa, Popiah and Rojak. I don’t understand how all of this food can be so good. I am just surprised at how everything we ate was so amazing and I would highly recommend to everyone who is seeing this video to visit these hawker stalls.
A big thank you to An Gong for their warm hospitality and allowing me into the kitchen to show how they made bak chor mee. Such a nice couple and the their food was amazing. I will be definitely going back there again, the next time I’m in Singapore. They are not on google maps yet, but you can just go to Old Nyonya and they are two stalls down.
Thank you for watching and be sure to hit that like button. Also, I’d love to hear what you thought of the episode. So please feel free to leave a comment below. Have yourself a wonderful day and I’ll see you back in the next episode.

FYI, if you don't want to wait in line for Tian Tian, then Ah Tai is nearby. Ah Tai is operated by Tian Tian's previous chef, who had a falling out with the daughter of Tian Tian's owner when she took over. Some say Ah Tai is better.

Isn’t that crazy. $4 for amazing huge bowl of food that would probably feed to and would be $20 in most restaurants in Canada/ America, how can they make it so cheap?! Love the birds singing in the background.

I believe the government of Singapore charges the hawkers a low rent, since they know how much Singaporeans depend on hawker centers.

Wow. They have so many choices there! I have a question. When you finish with the food do you hand the plates directly back to the sellers, or is there somewhere you put them where they collect them? Things like this I like to know in advance if I can.

Thanks for watching and the questions. There are stations for you to drop off all your plates and garbage. You'll see them everywhere. They are located typically at the end of the row of stalls.

Hi Grif, if you have the opportunity, please try the white blanch chicken, the chicken taste is more pronunce. The "roasted" chicken is actually fried an is typically drier.

@@grifsfoodandtravel Hi Grif, you can get the white blanched chicken at any store that sells chicken rice, at min 1:32 of your video, there is an example of White Blanched chicken (白斩鸡), at the centre of the table, while the other plate of chicken on the table is the roasted chicken variant.

Some of the underrated hawker centres worth going are Golden Mile food centre (favourite chicken rice at B1-35 kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJuZiaqforBkeac ) and Hong Lim market and food centre (best fried kuay teow mee at 02-17 Outram fried kuay teow mee kzbin.info/www/bejne/iISciWetZbVgnbs). Maxwell food centre is not the best . Just that tourists think it is the best . Amoy street food centre also not bad

TT Chicken rice is NOT the go to place for chicken rice. If you were to look at the queue, its all tourists. Locals dont eat at TT and we always wonder why the queue is so long... and had a good laugh... there are goodies at Maxwell but tourists dont know... one of them is the oyster cake ..

@@grifsfoodandtravel Thanks for replying. Good video, great honest reviews. I am from Singapore, glad to see you enjoying yourself. For stalls other than TT, you could try Ah Tai which is just a few stalls down. Ah Tai was opened by an ex-helper at TT's stall. Comparatively, Ah Tai's rice is more solid and fluffy whilst TT's is more mushy (they use more stock, so they get that bit more oomph in flavour). IIRC Ah Tai doesn't have the thick sauce over the chicken as well, which is more traditional in Singapore.
