BEST EATS at Old Airport Road Hawker Centre 🇸🇬 Singapore Street Food!

Michelin Singapore Street Food - When planning my trip to Singapore, I knew I had to go to a hawker centre and try some amazing local cuisine. The first hawker centre I wanted to try was the Old Airport Road Food Centre. This hawker centre has been around for over 50 years and is one of the most popular hawker centres in Singapore.
Being that this was my first time at a Singapore hawker centre, I had to try some local traditional foods. So you’ll see me try lor mee for the first time, along with some roasted duck, hokkien prawn mee and curry puffs. I have to say this was probably one of my favorite eating experiences and couldn’t have asked for more when trying food from a hawker centre.

The darker Hokkien Mee you had in KL is KL style hokkien mee. In Singapore, if you order Hokkien Mee at zichar stalls, you get the black version. The seafood-y, lard-y, version you had in this video is actually referred to as Hokkien Prawn Mee

You need to add black vinegar, sambal chilli and fresh garlic that they provide at the side. Those sliced chilies are quite mild actually :D Personally there are better curry puff elsewhere, Amoy hawker, Katong area. Their curry taste is not fragrant, quite bland. FYI that is soy sauce with chopped chilies not vinegar. It's a very common condiment for a lot of dishes. However hokkien mee usually pairs with good sambal chilli, this is a rare stall that doesn't provide it. Sauce with cheong fun is always soy sauce base, there is no vinegar.
