I run a wire in speeduino that cost me about $120USD total excluding the wideband sensor and controller, also uses TunerStudio so has auto tune. It's a great learning experience since it's all open source.

I heard about those but wasn't brave enough to try it. Do you have a link of a step-by-step guide on how to implement it?
@ioijiopjkiopjkp5 ай бұрын
@@CanyonTuned there's an online manual that you can google, also some videos on youtube. I can't link anything here because youtube will remove my comment. Speeduino is basically just the firmware, there are a few official boards and lots of user designed boards including a plug and play E36 board. Each board would have different instructions but they all use the same speeduino firmware. I would recommend starting with a board called "UA4C", then wire it in like you would any other stand alone. I just cut the stock ECU connector off the stock harness. Lots and lots of info on the forum and facebook groups.

What about a 92 OBD1 M50B25NV with a Bosch ECU. Stock dme is a no-go, there doesn't seem to be a plug & play solution either. There's only PnP solutions for the m50tub25 (vanos).

I think there's a pnp version of megasquirt, at least there used to be. Otherwise you'll have to get a jumper harness

I believe ms41.3 can have automatic injection based on closed loop wideband sensor with your pre set AFR's

Hmm well if there was better documentation out there I'd be on board. But trying to get those devs to do anything the past few years has been awful. They want $300 for the custom code with 0 documentation. No thanks

The custom code is free bro and the developer is dead. RIP Abhishek Shinde

Ok after looking into this I still don't see where you get the ms41.3 definitions. And under speed density it says "Speed Density has been loosely tested to not function properly so it is not considered a usable feature." So I don't trust it

If your car (E36 S52) is not boosted, NA with mods, larger MAF, M50 intake, full length headers, no cats, are you still suggesting not to stick with the stock ECU. Or does that comment only apply to boosted applications. At some point I want to switch to more aggressive cams and higher flow injectors.
@ethx98375 ай бұрын
Ive got ms41.3 on my boosted m50 and would definitely recommend it over ms41.0. Its still a budget option at the end of the day but it makes things a lot easier when it comes to getting the car setup and driving for road tuning ect. It would be pretty cool if they got speed density working but even then, target afrs and extended tables make it worth it imo. Ign cut limiter, boost control and flex fuel are pretty sweet too. There is pretty good support for it in the bmw tuning discord, people have made some good base maps for different m/s5x variants which also makes things a bit easier. Its free and easy to flash so would recommend trying it if you have a stock ecu

Hey, I have a 98 m3, and I am currently working on putting in a turbo. My question is, I want a link standalone on my S52. What do I need to make this work? Or which standalone do you recommend for the S52 turbo platform. By the way, I want to drag race from time to time.

Have you tuned on a the ecu master det3+? Been looking into that for my turbo m50b25 non vanos
@CanyonTunedАй бұрын
For the M50NV I would look into the Link pnp, I believe they call it BMW link+. I'm really not a fan of generic ecus that are made to work using patch harnesses. 99% of the time there's some wiring or setup/configuration issue

Hey! Love the video and the link ecu videos! I’ve got a z3 with the m52tu motor and ms42 ecu. I’m planning out a turbo build and am looking for a good option for ECU. I’ve found I can get a patch harness by pnpecu to adapt to the link G4X XtremeX. What are my other options besides stock? Thank you!
@CanyonTuned3 ай бұрын
Tu engines are honestly uncharted territory. I really don't know much about them or what ecus even support them. Not many people turbo them for a lot of reasons. Personally I'd leave it stock, not a great engine platform to be messing with

Do you have an opinion on the ECUMASTER plug and play adapters connecting to their Black or Classic standalone ECUs?

I can definitely tune it if you decide to go that route

Would like to add little HP without negativly effecting other components like a tune without the proper undates. Suggestion for novice or leave it alone until educated myself? I can either do a remote tune or you can send me the ecu, hit me up on Instagram (same username)

What do you think about boosted N52B30 ? They're getting more popular, not the best engine to boost but they're getting better (350-400hp)
@CanyonTuned5 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure the rods and pistons are really weak in those, and the compression would probably be too high

Do you have any experience with the new MS3Pro PnPs for OBD2 e36's? I'm leaning that way over Vems since I hear that Vems hardware is on the older side.
@CanyonTuned5 ай бұрын
I have experience with both, I would say the hardware/software on the MS3Pro is newer and frequently updated. While the VEMS hardware works great (although getting flex fuel to work is a little bit of a hack). Don't expect VEMS to update anything in the future. It's kind of a dead development project at this point.

Hey bud I was trying to figure out how to message you. But I couldn't so I'll ask you in the comments. I have an E36 M3 it's the S52. I wanted to know if you can tune these cars without having any forced induction. I have a 3.5 intake and I'm not sure if I can put a 3.5 MAF as well and if I do put a 3.5 maf should the car be tuned after?
@FourCuteCats5 ай бұрын
Yes, you can tune non FI e36's on stock DME and it should work great. If you're going to get a 3.5 MAF you'll want a 3.5 intake, injectors, and optionally bigger cams. And yes, you'll need a tune as well.
@CanyonTuned5 ай бұрын
The stock DME is still great for NA applications! I thought I had mentioned that in the video
@dbldwn38425 ай бұрын
@FourCuteCats I have a 3.5 intake on it now. Next step is the 3.5 MAF. You don't think I can get away with stock injectors? Or are you saying it's only worth doing all that if you get injectors and cams? Also I'd like to try and tune the car myself. I just don't know where to start. If you wanted to share ypur knowledge it would be greatly appreciated 🙂. At least how to start the process.

@@dbldwn3842 Stock injectors with which engine? The S52 pink top injectors have some headroom for more airflow but not much. You'll need to log injector duty cycle to be 100% sure. Also I have a ton of videos on how to tune the stock DME. kzbin.info/aero/PLflcXINTFVbuHbL79RXLP4qBUpB1_fYnV
