Similar process but someone would have to map out the memory addresses. I.e reverse engineering. Most of the time a couple degrees of timing are added to help with throttle response and a small horsepower gain. It's not super noticeable but I look at it as waking up a lazy engine

Hey, Nice video very helpful, but i have one question what exactly are the step size maps doing. Do they change the values of the igniotion map or what is the actual use of it?
@CanyonTuned9 күн бұрын
Step size is how many degrees timing will be subtracted from your base timing table during decel. The bigger the step size, the more aggressive the timing retarding
@seppva23449 күн бұрын
@@CanyonTuned Thanks Mate that helped me a lot in understanding step size because i Ran flames and everything on many Cars but Always had my Problem with understanding step size so lets say i have a step size 50 and 20 degrees Timing i end Up with -30 degrees Timing on Decel? Sweet stuff! 👍🏼 My opinion on the rear. I think you might be able to get away with putting a helper springs at the rear. And use the helper springs to adjust your ride height.
@CanyonTuned29 күн бұрын
I'd have to use a shorter spring in the rear, but a helper spring only helps the main spring maintain preload when the shock is extended
@VinRZ29 күн бұрын
@@CanyonTuned I agree. With multi pieces coilovers, you kinda have to use the lower mounts to tune the bumpstops and the theoretical total suspension travel. Having helper springs allows us to dial in our bump/droop travels. 👍🏼👍🏼

Have you considered that the challenges with the suspension relate to dampeners rather than just doing a spring swap? Most of the coilover kits aren't good for much more than slamming the car on the street. Digressive SA or DA dampeners will make a real difference on the track depending on what level of driving you are doing?
@CanyonTunedАй бұрын
My coilovers are digressive rate, also dampening has nothing to do with body control. My current level of driving is just non competitive track days but my goal is to break my old record each time I go
@robertfontaine3650Ай бұрын
@@CanyonTuned Got it.
@FCustureriАй бұрын
Damping has a ton to do with body control(low speed damping in particular). No, it will not change the final body position at steady state mid-corner (the springs and sway bars control that indeed) but it controls the rate of change (which can make the car feel stiffer/quicker to change direction or more stable under heavy driver inputs) and can prevent overshoot which could cause bottom outs. Your shock length and spring preload are also very important to control bottoming and topping out (Ohlins is well known for screwing up their original setup sheet for the rear of these cars, they rode straight bumpstops haha)
