Great video would it work with a 2017 5k IMAC? OR would Radeon 5600XT be better? Also my 2016 MacBook Pro. Would it work with this. Does it need Catalina to work? And next question. Do you use motion or after effects with Final Cut Pro do you make you own graphics or get good downloads. Sorry but I’m just getting into video work and need the help and advice, thank you in advance.
@RebirthofSOC4 жыл бұрын
JenniferH - I'll try and provide answers to your questions. 1. It would work with a 2017 iMac 5k. 2. The video card use is dependent on your use case and system setup. I landed on the Vega 56 for my multi-cam applications. My recommendation would be that you check Geekbench benchmarks for your CPU and then also for the video card of interest. With that, you should be able to get a feel for what might work. 3. The minimum requirement is found on apple's site - support.apple.com/en-us/HT208544 4. I use Motion and Final Cut Pro at the moment for multi-cam edits with multiple LUTs. I tend to use some of my own and also leverage other customizable amazing motion graphic designer content and plug-ins. Good luck on getting into the video editing game - it's fun and rewarding to use the creativity through media. Thanks for watching.

@RebirthofSOC4 жыл бұрын
David Kerman - To be fair, I haven't checked it. Having said that, I would say there will be a bottleneck as there's a maximum throughput that would be diluted depending on the data draw. Yenn - I completely understand the noise factor. Interestingly, the fan turns on for me when I physically move my desk up or down. Other than that, even when editing 4K things seem relatively quiet. To be fair, the mic is extra sensitive so it can pick up the smallest decibel level. Thanks for watching

What eGPU/AMD Graphics card will work with my 2016 15 inch MacBook Pro? processor: 2.9 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 Memory: 16GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 Graphics: Radeon Pro 460 4GB Intel HD Graphics 530 1536MB Is not for gaming it’s to edit 1080p and maybe some 4k videos on FCPX. And also, what is a good external monitor to use with the eGPU?
@RebirthofSOC4 жыл бұрын
The Meza Family - I think there are many GPUs to choose from for sure. For eGPU, the Core X (normal, not chroma) would be fine. Frankly, others would be also assuming they're Thunderbolt 3 compatible (e.g., sonnet). For your use case with FCPX & 1080p mostly, that's not too too intensive. So less powerful AMD cards than the Vega 56 would be fine. Just don't go for NVIDIA due to compatibility challenges. For monitor, there's a whole list of them depending on your needs. Anything 1080p with your connection of choice would work for budget purposes. If you want upgradability or will dabble more into 4K, I'd think about a 1440p monitor with display port connection personally. Thanks for watching.

Hey man, finally I found your video, because I have the same problem, the same Mac and I order today the Razor X and the same Vega 56. Nice video, but I have a “strange” question, how is it with putting the computer to sleep? When you awake your Mac, don’t you get a message saying “your eGPU did not disconnect correctly” or something like that? Like a external ssd. I always see people saying it’s important “disconnect” it on the top right corner before you put your Mac to sleep. I don’t see my self remembering to disconnect every single time. How do you manage that? Sorry my English, it’s not my native language, keep up with the good work!
@RebirthofSOC4 жыл бұрын
Rui Almeida - Thanks for watching and for the question. No worries on the language, much appreciation for engaging. I actually don't ever allow the mac to go to sleep and have it plugged in because I use it as a desktop. I do this in system preferences "energy saver" settings. I also keep the eGPU on for most of the time because it is used more as a docking station for my devices. I do use the disconnect button in the menu bar if i need to take the laptop. This is a trade-off with battery life, but the convenience for me is helpful. Thanks again.

@RebirthofSOC4 жыл бұрын
This is a good question. From what you're sharing, I believe the eGPU should be connected where there is the most significant graphics demand and time constraint for your workflow. Based on your setup, I'd say on the 2017 iMac because editing has such a significant GPU memory draw. The streaming could be handled with an external unit like BlackMagic ATEM. Hardware could sort out multiple video streams without burdening those machines. Having said all that, check some of the benchmarks for those devices for OpenCL and that should tell you where you would get the most benefit. Keep in mind, if you know you want an eGPU, set it up and test each; and then you'll know which is best for your needs. Sounds like an exciting setup ... and thanks for watching.

is there a egpu that will toss the rendered image back into my MacBook Pro display? maybe a dumb question but the info out there is all quite misleading.
@RebirthofSOC4 жыл бұрын
Kyle - Not sure if i exactly understand the question when you mention "rendered image," but for apps or the desktop, you can have images on whichever monitor you choose; by default or within application. Best regards.

@@RebirthofSOC thanks for the reply. Yeah let me uncomplicate things- will it work for gaming? Can I game without needing another display? Good looks on an answer u already got my sub cause ur channel deserves it

Radeon vega 56 and razer core x chroma works with bootcamp/windows 10 ?
@RebirthofSOC3 жыл бұрын
I haven't tested it in that configuration. The only piece I've seen in my research is around compatibility of NVIDIA cards and Vega is better. Again, I'm not sure as I don't use it in that configuration. Thanks for watching.

Hey, I had a question I currently use a MacBook Pro 13 with intel hd graphics, I purchased a Razer Core X with amd rx580 8gb gpu, the gpu has 3 dp and 1 hdmi. I use 2 monitors as well but if I connect both my monitors to the Razer Core X it doesn't work, I am connecting 1 monitor using dp and the other using hdmi. if I connect them individually the monitor works, but If I connect them together to the Razer Core X, my MacBook freezes and both screens go black. could you assist.
@RebirthofSOC4 жыл бұрын
Hustle Bevan - That is very surprising to me. The only time i see any issue was when I attempted to connect to the eGPU (1) directly to my laptop or (2) connect directly to my eGPU after I had closed my laptop. You might try to connect with the screen open and see if that shows any benefit.

Does this work on m1 macbook?
@RebirthofSOC3 жыл бұрын
It's a great question. I haven't tested it yet. I'm hoping it won't be necessary with the new M1 integration with graphics, RAM, HD, etc. Having said that, I've not seen the data yet.

result(s) found for "I recently purchased a razor core x and im running Final Cut Pro X on a 2020 macbook pro 13". I put a Radeon 580 card in the Razor but its still dropping frames during playback. Its seems to drop frames worse when the Razor is on. Im i doing something wrong?"
@RebirthofSOC4 жыл бұрын
Hi Len - I'm sorry to hear you're having issues. I'm not certain of the specifics, but I would imagine it should be better. Have you specified FCPX to run via eGPU vs GPU? I also would test via geekbench and see if you're seeing some of the same numbers as expected by others. Perhaps there's a bottleneck somewhere. browser.geekbench.com/opencl-benchmarks

Can you connect an external mechanical keyboard to the Razer Chroma usb port? Will it work with the Mac?
@RebirthofSOC4 жыл бұрын
Eddie Siow - Yes, you can. Any USB peripherals should work, especially lower demanding ones like mice and/or keyboards. Thanks for watching.

What control of the Chroma do you have on Mac without access to Sypnase 3?

Jack Rowley - unfortunately ... there is no RGB control that i know of; only on PC. I did go for it for the other functionality as opposed to custom RGB control. Thanks for watching.

Why does everyone use these expensive eGPU's with a video card that cost less then the eGPU they put it in?
@RebirthofSOC4 жыл бұрын
Tom B - To each their own for sure. For me, the extended life on the MBP for my use was clearly a net positive (and certainly less expensive than starting over given my applications). Always welcoming perspective.

@@tomb3782 It's all good. If I understand you correctly, I monitor the performance of the card(s) using activity monitor. Hopeful this helps.

@@RebirthofSOC okay, is there some sort of performance benefit to using a lower power card vs a higher power one? Like using a 1650 vs a 2080 ti in a eGPU? I know most most eGPUs only use two to four pci-e3 lanes, but a lot of cards are very hungry for power, so i'm wondering if a lower power card will perform better than a higher performance card...
