I got the Boeing yoke (standalone) and the Bravo throttle from Currys in a sale. Less than £400 in total. Not completely ideal for GA, but I really like the pendulum feel and resistance. Recommended. Curry’s currently have the Alpha for £150 but no Bravo stock unfortunately.

Excellent review so thanks for that! I purchased this Turtle Beach yoke system and agree with every point you make here. I certainly hope the pitch stickiness situation resolves itself because mine is still new and it makes me not want to fly it. Unfortunately, you missed the biggest knock against this yoke: out of the box, it ONLY works with MSFS. If you want to use XPlane, you'll see errors and you have to configure every single function manually on this yoke! Worse, you have to change the input on the yoke from PC to PC Legacy 1 or Legacy 2 in order to have it successfully communicate with XPlane! Legacy 1 enables the "jet" style throttle levers on top and Legacy 2 enables the vernier TPM controls on the bottom. Maybe I'm new to this whole business or maybe I'm just a grouchy old man but I find it hugely irresponsible that TB has built a product that doesn't work with all of the popular sims out there. Maybe it's a good business model for them but it certainly would make me think twice about purchasing this product again, had I known it before I bought it.

Thanks for posting this comment, I am new to filght sims and just got x plane 12, I am shopping for controls and the one on this video seemed great, everything I wanted at a reasonable price, good thing I saw your comment before ordering, thanks again... I hate to impose but what would you recomend? The honeycomb set-up would be great but it's so expensive, I wouldn't mind paying for the Yoke if I could find a cheaper alternative for the throttle quadrant...
@TooooManyHobbies2 ай бұрын
@@josemmontes5810 There’s nothing wrong at all with the TB yoke and quadrant. They work fine. It’s that initial configuration piece that is important for new buyers to know about. Once you’ve passed that hurdle, then the system is fine. I haven’t tried any other models of flight controls so I don’t have a good basis to compare but there’s nothing wrong with the TB controls by themselves.

This is the second Velocity Flight Controller that I had and now I've had problems with each. The first one I purchased had a manufacturing defect with the elevator axis. It simply would not allow you to setup the axis at all. I tried everything. The yaw axis worked fine but not the pitch. I also purchased the Turtle Creek Rudder and I have to say it appears to work fine. The second Velocity Flight Controller was a replacement for the first one. Now the elevators work fine, yaw works as it should, and rudder works great. I have to say I am a bit confused about the setup on the controller face and how to define the options for each button for axis as it may be. There is definitely an interaction. On some planes I can't get the throttle to work at all and on others it seems to work just fine. Any hints or instructions would be appreciated.

I made an error when I talked about the first contoller. It was the elevator axis that did not work. The yaw worked ok but the pitch *elevator) would not.

I need the throttle quadrant part stand alone, would be perfect for my setup & includes the trim wheel. It’s a shame it doesn’t work stand alone. The Bravo is way too big, the size on this throttle looks good.
@g-locmedia Жыл бұрын
The shining light of this throttle is the trim wheel. If I could just have the trim wheel I’d have that bolted on to the big simulator right away.

I can get this for around 210 USD but the "stickiness" worries me. In real flying you always have one hand on the yoke and the other on the throttle and you should be able to do that in the sim as well. I started out with the Seitek yoke and is was terrible at that and the immersion suffered from that. I am considering the Honeycomb but you need buy the throttle quadrant too.
@g-locmedia2 күн бұрын
If you're worried about the stickiness. Get the honeycomb. That would be my recommendation.

I had this at one point. I hate myself for returning it. I did so because, at the time, I wasn't into GA or fixed wing as much. But, now, with an astonishing lack of decent helicopters in MSFS, and the fact I'm dropping $40+ on planes like the Just Flight Arrow, I think it's time to go back to a yoke. I've heard Honeycomb is the go-to, but also horror stories of their awful support and even worse logistics.

Honeycomb are what I would call the standard go to if you know you’re going to be in it for the long haul. Personally haven’t had any issues with them and I flown with the Alpha and bravo for years. It’s good kit.

Im still split on this or the honeycomb- is the detent that bad? I could care less about the stickiness as some of the old planes I've gotten to handle are a bit sticky sometimes. I just need something that can handle the moderate finesse a cessna 172 calls for
@g-locmedia10 ай бұрын
If you can afford the honeycomb and a aperture throttle you’ll enjoy the honeycomb more if we’re taking finesse. But if your stick on budget this is a great option

If by "beginner" you mean someone who never had any experience in flight sim, then any product will be good. But At 380$, you better be good for a beginner learning curve. Issue here is the center position when you start to master the plane and want to keep it stable, the sticky center becomes a nightmare. SImply compare it to ther yoke to realize the difference. leaning with a basic joystick is way easier I belive, then move up.
@g-locmedia Жыл бұрын
There are many people moving up from an Xbox controller which it will suit well. I did raise the detents in the video. Mainly this video is aimed at those that want to fly with a yoke and throttle more like what you will learn on like a 152 or the likes.

im working with a 500 dollar budget(willing to go a lil bit more) and ima tuck between the velocity one and honeycomb. I’m currently in college getting ready to start my flight studies and training. which would you suggest?
@g-locmedia11 ай бұрын
The honeycomb is a better tone but with less functionality. The main difference is in terms of the detent and a slightly smoother feel and a little bit higher build quality. However the velocity one has the included throttle and a button box which is very useful. I’d be tempted with the velocity one unless your willing to pay out for the honeycomb throttle too.
