Great video, I have had the VelocityOne flight yoke for almost a year now and absolutely love it, and would definitely buy again if need be.

I think you summed it up very well there... The V1 is a nice, compact, all-in-one unit at a reasonable price, whereas the Honeycomb (whilst being slightly better quality) is a lot more expensive when you take into account the cost of the hub and throttle quadrant on top of the cost of the yoke. And, of course, even if you order a Honeycomb product, you may still end up not receiving it! I really like my V1, it suits my needs perfectly and when you take into account the cost of the Xbox Series S you can get an entire flight sim setup for less than the cost of the Honeycomb units.

Wonderful contribution Dave. Speaking of accounts (just for analysis perspectives); although I'm not over familiar with the US accounting system, the net profits' of Honeycomb are a fraction of the overall Turtle Beach net income - something to crunch over.

Great video, thanks for the info and all your work. Just received my V1 about a week ago and yes, the stickiness really makes you concentrate on landing but it’s not a deal breaker. Absolutely love the trim wheel and throttle quadrant along with all the programmable switches and buttons. I was able to purchase mine used off of Amazon for a approximately 2/3s the cost of new and for that I received a unit that for all intensive purposes was just like new, very happy that way. If I had any complaints it was getting all the buttons and switches set up with so very little info, I really miss all the manuals we used to get with games like earlier versions of MSFS and associated hardware. As a 64yr old who’s not a real gamer all I can say is I’m glad my son was around to get get me started. But if that’s the price you pay for all the features I can setup to make my flight sim more immersive I can handle the learning curve. Guess what I’m saying is, I’m having a lot more fun with MSFS2020 on Xbox and really happy with my V1.

Ive had both, I sold on the V1. The trim wheel issue was a deal breaker (crashing me into the ground after AP) and the stickiness, even after a good while never felt real and the whole point is immersion :( It may be cheaper - but it isnt cheap and for that price I expected better :( XPC on the other hand feels real and although the buttons are hard to reach and the trim wheel is pretty useless I would take it over any other controller out there. Again, not perfect and therefore probably not truly worth the cost, but far more reliable and real feeling of the two. As usual, great vid

After hearing your comment about the sticky yolk breaking in over time on the V1F, I have to report that mine is broken in and still doesn't move smoothly on the elevator near the center point. Can we do a poll on how many owners the V1F would say that they're elevator is smooth/solid versus having some vertical play on the shaft and still sticking near the center point? Some of you may have heard of the gentleman in the Netherlands that created a 3D printed support piece that fixes the issue, funny enough I just got a message from the folks at pro desk sim that they are now working on a comparable product here in California.

My cockpit being an F-18/16 & AH64 "hybrid" thing & must accommodate a stick & collective. My panel is only 22 inches wide & with 4 MFD's installed it leaves no room for a Yoke. Your Logitech "Radio panels" review convinced me to buy the set of three & I'll need to make room for them where a Yoke might fit. Other than building a THIRD independent cockpit/rig ...I'm stumped. My second Rig is dedicated to Racing ...I'm out of room ...lol. I will take up your offer & post photos on Discord ...when it is finished. I tried to post a photo here too ...didn't work. Excellent video. I have the VelocityOne. I enjoy it. No rudders needed. The yoke is still not the smoothest despite being worked in. The elevator trim is nice but when going out of autopilot, if you touch it, reverts to neutral which causes a brief loss of control of the plane. I wish it stayed at the setting the autopilot had it on when I take over. Also, they still haven't fixed the autopilot light. Otherwise, it's a great product and worth the money.

Great video. I just gave my V1 to my stepson because I got the Alpha and Bravo. I fly on the Xbox series x BTW. Anyway, I'm very happy overall but I miss the trim wheel on the V1. The wheel on the Bravo isn't an axis control and it takes at least a quarter turn before you get 1 notch of trim movement. There's a software fix for you PC folks but not for me. The only other weird thing is that the row of rocker switches on the Bravo are upsidedown. That is to say, up on the switch is off and down is on. Seems to be reversed from the ones in videos I've seen. Overall though the build quality and function are great and the ability to add tension to the throttle levers is a highlight in my opinion.

I remember back in early summer last year after my Logitech yoke (and therefore throttle quadrant which plugged into it) gave up the ghost, I wrote a comment on one of your videos as I was trying to decide whether to get the Velocity One or the Honeycomb Alpha XPC and Bravo. Although it meant pre-ordering, I opted for the Honeycomb units as they seemed superior in quality and the Bravo has 6 levers compared to the VelocityOne's 4, meaning that I could have a realistic configuration when flying twin propeller aircraft like the Flysimware C414. So in July last year I ordered the Bravo and pre-ordered the Alpha XPC. Since I live in the UK, I decided to order from the Flight Sim Web Shop. This meant that although I could have the Bravo in July, my XPC wouldn't arrive until November - leaving me to survive with my SideWinder 2 joystick as a 'yoke substitute' for about 4 months! I didn't order direct from Honeycomb, as in my experience it is always better to buy from a supplier in your own country whenever possible and so I was prepared to wait the extra 2 months it would take for the yoke to be delivered. To my delight, it came at the end of October, about a week early. I've been using the XPC regularly for almost 6 months and the Bravo since July last year, and I'm very happy with the setup I now have. I don't regret not having bought the VelocityOne unit, as the Honeycomb setup fits my requirements perfectly.

@richavery66 Жыл бұрын
@@Huddison It would be interesting to see how you think it compares with both the Logitech throttle quadrant you've been using with the XPC yoke and the VelocityOne. If you do get a Bravo TQ, you'll find that the buttons on it come as controlling the lights by default (which are redundant, as you've got controls for them on the yoke). However, it's quite easy to remap them - I did this in MSFS at first but now use Lorby's AAO. I have found that AAO is useful as I don't have to go into the MSFS options to change the configuration when flying a different type of aircraft - I only have to switch out the levers on the Bravo, load the new aircraft in the sim and I'm ready to go.

Thank you for another great video! I recently purchased the VelocityOne (Yoke, rudder pedals and stand). The yoke is being returned and I am going with the Honeycomb (and their throttle quadrant). The sticky elevator is too much for me. I have moved the yoke in and out well over 150+ times and it is still sticky. It gets frustrating when trying to do anything that requires small/delicate movements like during approach for landing in small aircraft ...Sticky elevator control makes it difficult not to bounce down the runway (enough that if it were a real aircraft I'd have a broken spine and destroyed airplane). For me it made flying in FS2020 almost not fun ..frustrating. I have an older CH Eclipse yoke that is much much smoother (but I don't love the built in throttle controls and want more realism as I'm looking into private pilot training. The VelocityOne rudder pedals are quite nice and do stick a slight amount, but not enough to matter. Crosswinds are much more difficult in a real airplane especially while during taxi 😉 I expect I will be able to mount the Honeycomb on the TB stand so the stand will probably be a keeper. If I were buying simply for flight sim I would go with a cheaper setup overall (CH Eclipse and cheap rudder pedals) ....have fun and keep the total cost around 200 dollars. In my case, I am hoping to use the sim and flight controls to simulate real aircraft and hopefully help practicing while flight training for an FAA cert. I'll spend the money if it helps since it is a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of flight training/certification ...at tool for training. A little background on me: I have a TM HOTAS and VKB joystick ...a few hundred hours in FS2020 (plus more in previous versions) ...DCS, Realflight RC (yes I fly RC planes too sim and real RC) ..and many many other flight sims over the years. I don't say this to sound like I'm an expert (far from it). I say this just to state that I'm not a new flightsim person. I've gone through 10+ joysticks, a few rudder pedals and a couple VR headsets ...looking for the most realism I can get. As the old saying goes: Buy once, cry once ..and enjoy 😉 Thanks again for the great review and information! 👍 You had me a silky smooth 🤣

@@Huddison For me it is primarily a tool to help with muscle memory for real life. I still find that I occasionally input opposite with the rudders (it isn't instinctive like a ckid's big wheel or a bicycle ..it's like you are turning the opposite of what you expect , right? 🤣🤣 - That's something that doesn't happen with the Joystick (my VKB has the twisting for rudder) It is fairly expensive but each flight (real aircraft) costs around 250 dollars or more. If this helps me practice it may actually help me save money overall with getting certified. And Honeycomb is still much less than something like Redbird (600 dollars just for the rudder pedals alone!) ....even the high-end ThrustMaster pedals are over 500 dollars. For many of us 'simmers' we already have a nice computer and that has already cost a lot (Xbox isn't even 1/2 of the cost of my video card (RTX4080) Thanks again for all the helpful videos you do. I really appreciate your honest opinions about products ...the positives and the negatives are a huge help for many of us. Keep up the great work 👍

@@Huddison I did get my Alpha XPC as well as the Bravo throttle quadrant. The Alpha is so so so much better than the Turtle Beach! I really do like it. One catch for people to be aware of when using both the Alpha and Bravo is that some of the "switches" (really they are buttons from the computer's view) conflict with each other. The Honeycomb software uses a switch on each piece of hardware for the same thing. The best thing to do is to go into the controller settings and clear them for the controller that you don't want to use for that switch. Very simple and now you have an extra switch that you can map for something else. On the Bravo, the switches are slightly annoying due to the location. Sometimes you may need to pull back on the throttle (or mixture, etc) to reach them easily. The pitch trim on the VelocityOne is way better than on the Bravo ..it seemed more realistic. The Bravo's wheel actually acts like a switch or keyboard press so you need to rotate it much much more than you would in a real aircraft (depending on the aircraft in MSFS2020). That's my only complaint and maybe Honeycomb can change that with a firmware update in the future...? I also grabbed the Redbird RD1 rudder pedals. Wow! I like them! They are pretty much that same as what would be in a Redbird sim at many training facilities here in the US. They are quite nice and more realistic than most others on the market (expensive though -I'd love to get their yoke ..but $$$). One complaint many people have is that they are close together (like many real aircraft) ..that's what I wanted so that they feel more like what is found in many training aircraft like a Cessna, PA-28, etc. Folks with large feet may prefer the TM pedals so take everything with a grain of salt - What I like someone else may really dislike. Again ..these are just my opinions but hopefully the info might help someone looking into new hardware for their flight sim. For me, I am looking into flight school for my Private Pilot so I want things as realistic as possible (without paying thousands for a Redbird or other simulator). I figure the money spent on sim gear may actually help save money in the long run with flight training (typically it costs at least 200-250 dollars/hr around me in the US) ..And I can still hop on the sim when the weather is bad outside ..practice with whatever weather (crashing doesn't kill you on the sim 😉 )

As I said before, your review was high quality as usual and despite getting it free of charge you demonstrated it warts and all, specifically drawing attention to some of the issues in the configuration. I also never thought for a second that you shouldn't have made the review in the first place because as you said there is significant demand for it and doing this is largely the point of your channel. My concern was simply w/r to being careful when giving any manufacturer (not limited to Honeycomb) some very positive PR for fixing your issue while it is clear that they wouldn't do that for everyone. I totally agree, a 10-20% discount to everyone who had their order cancelled for their next order would have been a nice touch.

Thank you for the amazing and informative video which was perfectly timed considering I have been trying to decide between these two yokes and after watching your video I think I am going to go for the velocity one mainly based on the throttle coming with it and the rudder can be controlled via triggers. The honeycomb had my attention mainly because it has the master, avionic and light switches as well as the ignition switch but because there is no runner triggers and you need to buy a throttle quadrant and pedals it ends up being too expensive overall. I do have two questions though on the velocity one is it possible to detach the throttle levers so I can just use the ga levers and when the throttle is disconnected is there a way to mount them?

But but but... You said you had to move the radio panel out of the way to fit everything, but the Alpha has these six screws on the top that you can remove to mount panels on. Your radio panel also appear to have these screws, so I give it a good chance that that will work. I think the VelocityOne does not have an option to add panels on top of it. That is a big plus for the Alpha if you have extra panels, such as your radio panel, but there are several others as well. The Bravo quadrant also has mount points, so you can build up a lot, and supposedly you can even stack the panels on top of each other.

Another excellent review by Mr. Huddison thank you. Might I ask if you would consider doing a review of the different versions (Xbox vs PC) as well. I am an old PC gamer at heart but enjoy MSFS on Xbox currently due to a loving daughter's gifts.1 Yet I wonder what am I truly missing if anything not playing on a PC version. Are there a lot of mods I am missing out on? I am curious with your two systems (laptop vs series S) your opinion if someone was saving funds to enhance their experience in MSFS, would it be better to upgrade to a better yoke setup or go from a console version to a PC version? I realize this can never be a straight up comparison but an opinion, but I do wonder what if anything are console players missing out on compared with a PC version. Also most likely a big difference in cost if comparing yoke systems to each other vs comparing the purchase of a console vs a PC. Perhaps some folks can say what level a PC needs to be to be viewed as a better visual experience over the consoles, but it would be nice to hear your experiences from your laptop and series S versions in one place. Is the Honeycomb yoke system better, yes from every review I have seen. Is it worth the upgrade if you already have the VF1, not in my opinion. I would prefer to save my meger funds to move to a PC version if I had a choice. Mr. Huddison I appreciate your reviews but even more that you engage others in joining you in flights around the world those too are enjoyable to watch, keep up the good content! @alancook8154: I am so jealous you have the stand and pedals lol. Have both V1 and Honeycomb XPC play on a Xbox sx love both the only thing I don't like with Honeycomb is the Throttle Quadrant the lights do not work and the rocker switches work upside down is there a way to fix this on Xbox sx
@Huddison Жыл бұрын
I don't have that issue with the rocker switches on my Series S. You could reverse their inputs in Controls Options.
@edwardbrann3959 Жыл бұрын
You can do that on Xbox sx have to look in to it more thank you for the help

I've had my V1 yoke for about three weeks now and the "sticky pitch" axis has not really resolved itself. I do like mostly everything else about it and as such I'm considering voiding my warranty and opening it up to see if there isn't some way of fixing the issue internally. I have not seen anyone else who has been brave enough to do this. Maybe just weaker detent springs would work.
@Huddison Жыл бұрын
Don't open it up and bear with it; it will smoothen out.
@pi.actual Жыл бұрын
@@Huddison Does it? Or do you just learn to compensate by exerting an outward pressure to counteract the binding tendency that occurs due to the off-center point of force? (using only your left hand) My belief is that this happens because the detent springs are just too strong meaning you have to exert quite a bit of force to move the yoke in pitch. My brother has had his for a year and it hasn't really loosened up or changed much. I think you should be able to pull the yoke easily with two fingers.

Just purchased the Honey comb Yoke the none Xbox version for £149 from Currys and the Honey Comb Throttle is coming from over seas for £228 both good value imo
@Huddison Жыл бұрын
That seems like a fairly good bargain - although the throttle quadrant is also often on sale from Currys for £149.

If you can afford Flying lessons and want Sim-ing to maybe help your Training and want a more accurate 'feel' I'd say get the Honeycomb, for 'muscle memory' with the switches and Magnetos etc Velocity is great for Sim flying...but I still find it too sticky after a year of use in the pitch axis...I also think the Trim wheel needs to be tinkered with quite a lot in sensitivity, to get closer to some semblance of realism.
@Huddison Жыл бұрын
The trim interactivity is mainly a fault with the sim rather than the V1 yoke. I'll make a video related to this subject soon.
@ensorgumbs Жыл бұрын
After a year I was still having stickiness as well with the V1 unfortunately . Made smooth landings very difficult to achieve at time. As an all in one system though it can not be beat.

@@Huddison Arr ok..is it a 'Bug' of some sort? I've got mine turned right down...but when I trim for best climb it JUMPS nose up straight away...really annoying 🙄😄

@@Huddison I was having problems with the initial movement of the V1 trim wheel during flight causing quite a large "jump". But I realised that if you make that initial movement of the trim wheel before take-off then there is no real issue. I think it may be to do with the software not remembering the position of the trim wheel from the previous session?

Not a fan of the Honeycomb XTC Yoke or Throttle Bravo: - The Honeycomb Yoke had no finger controls for the rudder as does the Velocity one. - The Honeycomb Yoke design is horrible regarding repelling dust - with all the crevices it is a hot mess. No backlighting of switches is a big letdown. just the ugly red that has no purpose. - The Honeycomb Yoke + Throttle Bravo takes up a lot of space as compared to the more refined and compact VelocityOne solution. The Honeycomb Throttle button and switches are directly behind the controls and are hard to get and backlighting is terrible. My suggestion: Get the VelocityOne.
@Huddison Жыл бұрын
That seems a bit one sided my friend; but there's no doubting the V1 yoke is a great all in one solution.
@Louis_Roper Жыл бұрын
V1 is better value for money I think. If your doing flight training it's also better because of its push pull throttle and mixture

Honeycomb support was horrible over 2 years ago as well, my honeycomb alpha yoke came doa when I bought it, I did not get a reply from support for nearly 2 months, I sent in multiple tickets and nothing for nearly 2 months.
