a little helpful advice... when reviewing something like this you should never use other products like in this case "Tobii Eye Tracker Five" which cost an addiction $250. People would want to see exactly how this would work with default equipment included when doing a review. Better to have shown us the view (looking around) using the HAT button or whatever you can use with any or all the Turtle Beach Velocity products included, but nothing added.

I’ve had this yoke for over a year now. I love it. My favorite part about it is the little pad below the throttles, they aren’t preset so you can bind them to whatever you want. Although I wish there was more tension for the throttle quadrant

In the past, I only knew Turtle Beach for their cheapo gaming headsets. This is an interesting move towards a very enthusiast/niche market. I see they took some inspiration from Logitech/Saitek with yoke RGB resembling the Logitech X56 HOTAS flight controller. One question: What is GNU/Linux compatibility like?

Three questions. The triggers work as rudders are they pressure sensitive so you can regulate input? Can regular rudder pedals say those from Logitek be used? Will you be doing a comparison between this rig and the Honeycomb yoke and throttle?

Yes the triggers are pressure sensitive, if youre on xbox than I would double check compatibility with those rudder pedals but if you are on PC than you can plug in any assortment of controllers and MSFS will see them all. I may do a comparison between the Honeycomb and this, since I have both. Thanks for the idea!

@@chaseevans9184 Thanks for the reply. I will be running my flight sim using a PC and MS Flight. I had been planning on waiting until the Honeycomb rudder pedals were available and go the who set, but the Turtle Beach looks like it could be a better choice as the design supports my chosen aircraft 152 and 182. However, in setting up a useable cockpit the issue is which offers more value and requires fewer add Ons.

This is a great yoke, a little expensive but works well, please be aware though that there is a bug in the software [FS2020] that is preventing save of controller sensitivity settings - its not restricted to this controller either. It really is a big issue as the sensitivity on some axes really does need tweaking to get good response.

I wish it had rudder pedals.... as a pilot I hate the guy of flight controls that are "so close" but having a major set of controls moved on me, I don't really like the idea of hopping in an airplane and accidentally trying to use the rudder triggers when I need rudder during a landing....

That play on the rod can't be normal, it will just lead to the plastic breaking eventually. This seems to be aimed at higher end sim users so why did they add that detent? The throttle quadrant seems nice, but too many issues with the yoke for that much money. Several pilot deviations in that flight, better be ready to take down a number to call... 🙂

Yep, you did it more than once. The C152 does not have a Constant Speed Prop. Pushing the Prop does nothing.

Why in 2022 we don't force feedback in a 400 dollar yoke is beyond me. I have the original ch products yoke and the new honeycomb yoke. Sure the honeycomb is so many years apart from the ch it sure feels better but no force feedback is really really subpar when you could add it just like my sidewinder force feedback from July 1998. I'm using it on windows 10 with new FS 2020 wtf. .

Like this ! great review - I think the AP features of the ALPHA and the TM Boeing are better options. My inventory seems to be growing ! I couldnt help but notice the detail of the SF Bay Area on your SIM (MSFS ? ) did you add any terrain features ? I am an SF Native and have had trouble getting a satisfying realism for SF. Do the vernier controls acutally operate as vernier, ie. turning them fine tunes the position, as they do in real life? This is more important for the mixture control, so the cable and screw motions should be present to properly simulate that control at minimum.

Great question! The vernier controls do not rotate. Also, sadly the prop mix is useless in MSFS at the moment. Really hoping they change that soon!

I setup the velocity one yesterday afternoon. And I X-Plane 11. The only problem is that X-Plane 11 recognizes the controller, but it doesn't setup the buttons and stuff like that. I have not tried MSFS 2020 yet. But I hear that MSFS is user friendly with this controller package. I have written X-Plane 11 service to see how they are going to handle this. I did read an email saying the X-Plane was going to have a software file that was going to help this. I certainly hope they do. I must confess I was rather disappointed that X-Plane is not really ready to handle this package.

I learned that there is a 20% S-curve on the roll axis by default within MSFS. That is the reason the yoke movement isn't quite 1:1 but you can change this in the MSFS settings.

Absolutely, MSFS does a fine job at teaching the important essentials while the VelocityOne Flight yoke helps with the immersion and builds muscle memory. I would recommend adding foot pedals to your setup if you find you are enjoying flying. -Chase

Well, kinda. For that you would need a study level aircraft, the only current one in MSFS is the PMDG DC6 although a 737 is coming. The DC6 is 60$ and the 737 will be 120$, but that’s it for MSFS, for more study level planes try x plane or prepar3d. Xp12 is coming relatively soon, and the level up 737 for XP11 is free and amazing, XP also has a 777 coming, an A320, A319 and A321. It also has a 757 and a lot more. MSFS does look better though. P3D is at this point old and outdated. The yoke itself I have not tried, but for learning to fly, a FFB yoke is better. All in all, yes you can learn to fly, but be prepared to spend some money

@@chaseevans9184 Not sure if you have ever flown a real plane, but this is very poor/dangerous advice! Building muscle memory from these cheap and very unrealistic products is a dangerous thing to do if you ever decide to try flying for real. As good as flight sims are now days, they are still a far cry from even remotely mimicking the real thing. Fun to play with, but not to study and learn from.
