Actually that scene where subaru used shamac and something broke. It was his gate. And that's why he said thanks. And now that his gate is broken he cannot use his magic, which means no more shamac. But that means he can use his sloth witch factor "invisible Providence" Now. Which he got after defeating Betelgeuse.

@@CynicalJon yep felix told subaru in s2 that it would take 2 more months to fully heal. But he used it here knowing it would break, and said thanks to his gate for his service. Rip 🙏
