Well it was a brilliant move. F8 rook was hanging and Re8 was impossible because of Rfe1. b6 was literally the only move that could have saved black from losing a rook, sacrificing the d5 pawn and getting activity back. Obviusly black didn't play b6 for that reason, I can bet serious money on that, of course he was like 'oh I am gonna attack the queen', but actually b6 was a really good move and the only one in that situation.

Moral of the story- computers don’t know how to evaluate ‘Brilliant !!’ moves
@TheRealHungryHobo3 жыл бұрын
It'd be interesting to see Levy open up the line the computer is looking at when it says a move is Brilliant. For a move to be brilliant there has to be lots of moves on the table, and only one is a "winning" move - which means somewhere in that line is a way for the player to completely turn the game around, even if it's like 16 moves deep. They found the "Brilliant" move to start the line, but they completely missed the line and blundered immediately after. If you follow through the computers line of follow-up moves it would probably become much more obvious why the line is "Brilliant."
@orlock203 жыл бұрын
@@TheRealHungryHobo So you are saying it's a combo attack bonus where if you play so many excellent moves in a row you get a brilliant?
@Zenlollipop3 жыл бұрын
@@orlock20 No, they're saying what they said, it's a brilliant move if it's a critical move that maintains or seizes some advantage and the reason it maintains that advantage, as opposed to every other move in that position regardless of how reasonable or attractive they seem, is only apparent several moves down the calculation. Even if you missed the reason it's brilliant and immediately blunder the next move, the computer will still flag the first move as brilliant.
@yaboykirby77893 жыл бұрын
Brilliant moves for the computer are ones it doesn't see in the first 2 seconds, that move at the end is pretty standard for any computer whereas the engine would never even consider that pawn push, I certainly didn't and if somewhere down the line because of that you can force a draw from there then yeah that's why it's it brilliant

Bakul Shah Isn't opposite-coloured bishop endgames usually a draw? If you have a slight material advantage, like two or three pawns, you should focus on promoting one of them and using the other one or two to deflect the enemy bishop from the queening square so it has to sacrifice itself to stop you from getting two queens. I'm not a master of the endgame, but that is what I would try to do.
