It's not electronic sim card.. it's embedded sim card.. it's a hardware sim that gets reprogrammed whenever you choose a different sim

My airalo worked well in France. Yesterday I came to Italy, but it is not working. Do I need to again install eSIM for Italy??
@TechWandererYT7 ай бұрын
Hi, it depends. There could be several reasons of why this happened. You may have bought a SIM for France and not the EU, or you may need to enable roaming.

Huge warning: eSIM services are significantly more expensive and almost always provide ten times LESS data for the same price that you would pay monthly for a physical SIM and a wifi puck. Example: My military deployment to Africa. eSIM price: $30 USD for 5GB of data for 7 days. Wifi puck + physical "pay as you go" SIM: $30 USD for 40GB of data for 30 days. You tell me which is the better deal.
@TechWandererYT10 ай бұрын
Definitely sticking to eSIMs myself. Zero chance I bother with running around airports, showing my passports, etc. WiFi routers are even worse in my opinion. Another device to carry around and charge, hard pass. But whatever works best for you. If you’re going for longer, like a deployment, then of course an actual SIM card is a much better option!

@@TechWandererYTWell then pay the same amount for less I guess lmao, 30 dollars for 40GB of data is great for the price
@TechWandererYT4 ай бұрын
@@bikingwithgriff2696 not everyone wants the same thing. if you value 10 GB more than your time, it's a good choice. I value my time over anything else in this world.
@bikingwithgriff26964 ай бұрын
@@TechWandererYT Well, think about it this way, would you rather have 5GB of data for only 7 days for $30 or would you rather have 40GB of data for 30 days for the same price. And nor is it a time issue because you don’t exactly hunt for SIM cards, you just go into a supermarket and get it there, I guarantee when you go on trips you go to supermarkets to get your food and thus in said supermarkets are SIM cards. It’s hardly a time issue you’re just promoting a service that is not good value for money. Sure it’d be great if you had all the money in the world and didn’t care for data. You might aswell just burn your money or in this case pay for a crap eSIM
@bikingwithgriff26964 ай бұрын
@@TechWandererYT And also, if you value your time “more than anything else in this world” surely having to load the app every 7 days for a measly 10GB of data would take up more time than just getting a 40/50GB SIM card when you do your grocery shopping. Your arguments make no sense.

FYI, doesn’t work in Japan. You can buy an eSIM, but it straight up didn’t work for me in Osaka 😢
@TechWandererYT Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike! I just checked the app and I see Japan being offered still being offered. I've actually tested Airalo not that long ago in Japan myself and it did work, albeit rather slowly. For my wife it was faster, but I ended up using another app called "Ubigi" which is a little more expensive, but WAY nicer (a single eSIM for everywhere - I should probably make a video on that!).

How do you turn off your physical sim so you dont get charged for roaming?
@chubz1978cd Жыл бұрын
Once your purchased Esim is activated, it automatically turns off your physical SIM card and roaming. Only bad side of Esim is you can’t use it on apps like Uber for they require an actual phone number (which is only on physical SIM cards). Remember that Esim is “data only”, and not all countries have Esim yet. iPhone 14s Canada/China/Hongkong version are the ones with Physical sim tray or even Dual sims, not the US version.

Unfortunately not, there are barely any apps left that give you a number. However, in many countries you can now get local eSIM apps (like from Telekom, etc) and get a proper registered eSIM in that country. That is subject to the country though..
