Girlfriend!!! You’ve restored my faith in Airolo. I was on a 3 country vacation (Vietnam, Cambodia & Thailand-1 month long) downloaded the app in Thailand after paying Verizon $100 for 30 days of international service. When I got to Costs Rica a few months later, tried to use Airolo and it didn’t work. Just got back last week from Costa Rica after a month and paid Verizon another $100 because I couldn’t get the physical SIM cards I bought in CR to work. This video was step by step. You’re like my baby sister… from another mister who teaches me all the latest gadgets tricks. Heading back to CR in May ‘25 and we’ll hit you up in April (since I can buy the eSIM card in advance.) I’ll let you know how it goes for me. Let me download this video to my library. Thanks babe. I’ll keep you posted.

To make sure you can receive texts from US while on secondary eSIM, you need to setup WiFi calling for the primary sim card before leaving home. When you get to your overseas destination, turn on both primary and secondary SIM cards. Select “secondary” for cellular data, select“primary”for default voice line. I was then able to get texts from banks. This is for an iPhone.

Very good video, you have an excellent you tube voice. The step by step was very good. I did find it a bit confusing around the 10 min mark. I think what you are trying to say. Continue to use your primary number while in Canada and when you arrive outside of Canada switch to secondary number. I think that’s what you meant. On another note unless I am mistaken you cannot receive text messages from Canada if people are in your contacts.? I have tried this twice and people could not send me text messages. I have two issues first the bank will send a verification code to your primary number which is now turned off. Second when both my wife and I were travelling we could not text each other. I think one solution is to switch to what’s app. Another video I watched mention setting your phone to wifi calling, not clear on that suggestion either. Anyway keep up the good work, feel free to correct me if I made a wrong comment. Cheers Vancouver Island.

I was not happy when Apple did away with their physical sim card slots. So I bought an older model for our full time travel. Well, we decided to get an e-sim for a trial run after our Tmobile 2G slow free world wide coverage is only good for navigation. I watched about a dozen videos from travelers to see which company was best and we ended up on Airalo. After 7 mos and a dozen countries it is flawless! Once again your video is all one needs! We second Airalo as our go to E-sim option. Global plan 20GB 365 days. Christina, I had to laugh when you said what have you been waiting for in using an "E-sim", because that is what we said!!

Thanks for your video as it contains far more information than others. I’m from Canada also. My wife and I visit her family in Vietnam at least every year or more often and today is my first day trying to use an Airalo eSIM. Vietnam only works for data but not phone calls. I was worried about getting Roger’s roaming charges in Vietnam so I completely Shut off cellular on the primary that’s what my son did visiting Japan with Airalo this week and so I did. I could not get it to work. I finally left the primary on but shut roaming off on the primary Rogers connection. It works and seems to show data is being consumed through Airalo on my iPhone 15. I’m a bit nervous to return to Canada and find out I am wrong and get a huge bill from them. Do you know if what I did is correct? Tried to log in & chat with Roger’s but get no answer on whether my account is consuming roaming charges. Sorry for the long message!

Fantastic video! One question, you say you can make calls and text using the app. Do you have to buy the data, talk and text package or can you use the data only and use wifi calling if your phone has that feature? Also when you activate the eSIM and it is switched over to the eSIM, I assume all the features of your phone will be available on the eSIM and NOT on your primary provider. I was also not clear on how your actual primary phone number will work on the eSIM as I think you may have indicated. Thanks for your help.
@jamesburwash56359 ай бұрын
Here is my experience, your primary number does not work. So you cannot receive text messages or phone calls. Having said that if you text someone first then they can text you back. Not sure what you meant by all your features on the phone , if you mean apps, then yes. There have been videos about wifi calling but the warning is switch it on before you leave home. I don’t think Airlo offers anything other than data. If you stop the video somewhere around the 10 min mark and read the message on the phone it says you cannot receive texts from people in your contacts.

That's a very good question that I might be able to help with. I am from Canada, my wife is from Thailand. I watched this video because I wanted a data plan when we hit the ground in Vietnam in Feb. Until I can actually get to my favorite tourist E-Sim shop which is a much better deal then these E-sims for long term stays. I don't know where you are going but I watched this video yesterday and found it useful. For long term you may want to do what I'm doing, purchasing a small data plan to get me started and then looking for the Best Local data plan that may include calling. From what I've gathered. E-Sims are great for short term usage and for those that stay somewhere for a week or 2 on vacation. For those of us that travel for the Winter months or digital nomads that stay in one place for longer periods, we are better off on a local month to month deal. Here in Thailand for sure and because I been to Vietnam before same goes there as well. Hope that helps, here's the link to that video kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnnbiKygfreGjNEsi=aCZkVA8FTQck5t8f and Be Well.

Easy to top up ? Is a credit card a must or a forex card works too ?

I've never used an eSim so this might seem a silly question; if I was on a one week cruise off the coast of Croatia visiting Croatian islands, do you think this would work? I'd rather not have to buy the ship's wifi package. Thanks!

When should I install the eSIM and when should I activate it?
@wendymeulemans7087 ай бұрын
I will definitely be using this website now silly question but when I get to Spain and I’m in my Airbnb, of course I want to use the Wi-Fi so do I have to switch off the Sims card to primary again or do I just keep it on the secondary and then just connect through my Wi-FiI do have an iPhone
@HappytoWander7 ай бұрын
No need to switch it (at least from personal experience). You should be able to just connect to your airbnb wifi as normal without doing anything to your eSIM!

Do you turn Primary off? when you arrive in your destination? - this is not quite as easy as promised :-)

I'd like to try an esim for the first time. I will be travelling to the US from CAnada and staying almost 3 weeks. You video was very helpful but I still have questions if you don't mind. I'm wondering if I get back to Canada and there are still one or two days left on my esim, what changes I need to make so that my phone now operates with my primary provider?

Hello, does the data plan on Airalo permits you to do mobile hotspot with anyone travelling together with you?

This is so helpful! Thank you for doing this video! I am going to New Zealand and Australia and didn't see clear information on what plan to get and what is included in a regional card for a certain area. Am I missing that? Also, we need to do this for 2 phones so I'm assuming we purchase two cards. Does that sound right? Thanks again for your video!

So when I’m still wanting to use my primary eSim in another country do I still need to pay my primary carrier the $13+ per day?
@robertgreno994212 күн бұрын
It should be noted that if you wanted an actual phone number then you should go to the international option and the annual option

I believe there are a couple of actions missing in this video [if you are a Rogers customer at least]: 1/ You have to 'Turn off this line [your main Rogers line] in 'Cellular'. Otherwise it keeps your Rogers line on, EVEN THOUGH you're using the Secondary line as your main line, and as a result you will be charged Roaming fees. 2/ Once I was in the US, I couldn't use the Phone/'Forwarding' function. So I had to phone Rogers, using my main line (which incurred one days Roaming charges) to forward my phone to the eSim number. Next time I go to the US I will Forward my phone to the eSim number BEFORE I leave Canada.

I'm in my home country preparing for a trip and was installing the Esim, and it asked a question I was confused by, so I switched back to your videos to look up how to complete the installation. However, when I went back to the install, it seems to be done installing, so now I'm not sure about the settings or if the installation was done correctly. Is there a way to check the settings, or does everything default to my original primary until I travel?

I had the same problem. I went to the settings app on my phone and made sure that the roaming feature was in the off mode. It wasn't so I turned it off and I think I need to just turn it on once I get to my 1st travel country. At least I hope that is correct!
