I own the Even G1, and I completely agree with you on everything. It feels very limited, and there isn’t much variety. It would be nice to have new features; it feels like I’m still in a beta version. I’m kind of stuck, and I'm considering selling mine or just hoping for the best that they add new features

So, that's actually an often asked question, without an answer. Even Realities has - to the best of my knowledge - not released what type of AI runs these glasses. But from my testing, it's definitely a language model, and it's a bigger one for sure. It even has internet access (or pretends to), as I for example asked it for the most recent U.S. election pools and it answered. All answers I have gotten are 3-5 pages long, that you need tap through, yes. There's something very annoying that happens though, and that is that the AI tries to "format" the out, with markdown. # Weather in Dubai **Today**: 32 degrees Celsius Something like this, which the software wasn't able to interpret at all, and it's wasting space. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Excuse my language, but it disgusts me that people 'trick' others into buying things for their own gain. These glasses are really cool tech, but as you said, they're a gimmick for 99% of people. I have no doubt that the 1% will find them very useful, for let's say talks, presentations, etc - but the way they're marketed (everyday smart glasses for everyday people) is misleading, and will lead to bad customer sentiment over time. Just like you, if I was able to return them, I would. For both of our sake, I hope that they will push a lot of firmware updates in the next months that may make them more useful. Have you been able to test the translation yet? Honestly, that's the single biggest reason I want these, but I've seen a couple reviews that said the translation was a bit slow and would get lost if the speaker was fast. I'd definitely pay the premium to be able to have live translation that worked.
@TechWandererYT

Hi Jake! I've only tried them with myself if that makes sense, as a German-native. I would have to agree with what other reviewers have said - just like the Teleprompter, they're not 'real time' - things move but it takes a second or two I'd say. There's zero chance that you could pick up a real conversation with someone that doesn't take breaks in speaking I think. The biggest problem is that there's only two handful of languages. My wife is Polish, for example, which isn't supported. Having said that, there's two translation options. One that is included (at least to a certain extend), and one that is paid. Maybe the paid version is better/faster? If you're truly interested in this, let me know what you'd like me to test and I'll make a quick video. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!

@@TechWandererYT I'd LOVE to see a good test of the translation. There are pretty much ZERO videos on youtube that go over that part in detail (the best I found was a single video that mentions the slowness). FANTASTIC HONEST REVIEW! Well balanced. None of the other reviews (and I've probably every YT review) were nearly as complete as yours and none pointed out all of the practical "REALITIES"/shortcomings (pun intended) of the Even Realities G1 glasses that you did. Bottom line is that I learned more about these glasses from your review then I did from watching every other Realities review video combined..That's no shade to the other reviewers...well maybe only to those that were clearly "sponsored commercials" for the glasses...ugh! So, again THANKS! One thing you didn't talk about was whether your glasses were prescription. As I understand it you can only get prescriptions for nearsightedness....and certainly no progressive lenses....so that is a huge limitation likely of the technology but nevertheless a limitation.

I don't really care what Even Realities thinks (though I hope they take the feedback to heart, and I am happy to help them and provide more feedback if they'd reach out). But people like you that view and get value out of this video are the top priority. As for prescription, no, they are the "normal" glasses. Thanks for watching and commenting, Michael! Many of these issues can indeed be fixed or at least improved with a firmware update. The most important once can't though. No speakers, no vibration feedback, clunky controls - all of which make this somewhat unusable for 'everyday life', but potentially very useful for 'special occasions' (like meetings or presentations). It is indeed a first version and I tried being as fair as possible, while also giving a real review. There are so many over-positive, clearly sponsored "review" videos on KZbin, it was time that someone puts in the work and talks about how they really feel. I have been a product designer, I can tell you the main reason that <insert product> doesn't have all the features you want, it's cost. Action cams are designed to be robust, meaning a minimal amount of moving parts, no IBIS, no autofocus. DJI made a product that has a gimble and autofocus, it's the pocket 3 and as you point out, isn't very durable! As well as being more expensive. Also there has been an action cam with a 1" sensor, the Sony RX0, it doesn't sell well mostly because it costs too much.
@TechWandererYT
@TechWandererYT 4 күн бұрын
Hi Iron Fur! Thank you so much for watching, commenting, and sharing your product designer experience. Here are my thoughts on this: A good amount of people would pay more for a camera that delivers better results, see the Pocket 3 for example. While the Sony RX0 had a 1" sensor, it lacked a lot of other things. No front display, no slow motion, no ecosystem or good app, and worst of all: a 35mm equiv focal range. Unusable for vlogging! Especially when compared to the Pocket 3 with 20mm, or the Action 5 Pro's maximum of 10mm. Given the chance, I think a lot of people would buy a Pocket 3 without a gimbal in an Action Camera format. It would have to be marketed differently, for sure, as the traditional action camera folks would absolutely hate it. And that's probably one of the big issues here.

@@TechWandererYT The RX0 ii has a flip screen that can face front like the Insta 360 Ace Pro, could take video up to 960 fps(albeit low resolution) 1080 @ 120, Focal length was 24mm, a bit tighter than the 20mm of the Pocket 3 The app was bad though, software is not Sony's strong suit. It wasn't perfect but was positioned to be a "premium" Gopro using a 1" sensor that people are still wanting today and they did it 7 years ago. The technical issue with a 1" sensor is the DOF actually becomes shallow enough to be noticeable, neccesitating an autofocus. Problem is once you start shaking moving elements of the autofocus mechanism (say attaching the camera to a motorbike) it gets blurry, Sony compromised by having the AF lock once it started filming. I think the main reason we haven't seen 1" sensor action cams besides the RX0 is the focus issue. I think it will be solved eventually, just depends if that is DJI, Gopro or Insta 360.
@TechWandererYT
@TechWandererYT 3 күн бұрын
@@ironfur9150 I'll add just two things: the RX0 has a 24mm focal length, that's a 35mm full frame equivalent. Honestly, that was probably the biggest issue with this camera. And when it comes to the DOF, that would be a benefit for a lot of people that take video 'more seriously'. I do agree though, once of these companies will solve it. For example, the latest Huawei Mate-XT (the triple-foldable phone) has a variable aperture lens, which can switch between f/1.4 and f/4.0. The latter will still not make everything in the back visible, but it's a huge step into the right direction. I honestly can't wait for this!

@@TechWandererYT I've been studying all those cameras for years, and gopro seems to have been lost, it clings to its old glory and hopes that marketing will retain and attract new customers, basically they have the highest bitrate, but the high bitrate for social networks is also pointless, and 53-68 Mbps is and quite enough for high-quality 4k video and higher framerates on KZbin

@@TechWandererYT the only thing I see is the best ratio invested and obtained with dji, however, there is no perfect action camera, neither 360 camera nor pocket camera, but dji at least makes some changes that are more important and useful for most people, and still has an affordable price compared to the competition

@@TechWandererYT if we ignore the 10 bit disadvantage, then it is definitely the best purchase for the highest quality or profit, the gopro is only better on a clear white day, as soon as it is night or dark it becomes ridiculous with 1.9 compared to insta360 or dji

@@TechWandererYT I think you made a good video, and a good question, even though a lot of users complain, and there are a lot of videos on youtube or other networks, the producers seem to not care about customers or users, and they spread to more that it is ok to have a choice, but the problem is that they ignore what is important, what the users want or need

people should ask themselves, do they want to see videos with BLUR background ?. when people go on vacation to capture beautiful scenery and themselves and the camera blur the background ?? what is the point to record only yourself. Then don't make video outdoor and just sit in a room because the camera like pocket 3 blur the background anyway... what a joke.
@TechWandererYT
@TechWandererYT 6 күн бұрын
@@tommyli8726 first of all, thanks for watching. Generally the more “pro” you go, the more background blur you want in your video. That goes hand in hand with more editing, too though. You’d have to then put other clips over yourself (b-roll) which makes things much more cinematic. No blur is more for out and about, minimal editing, more “raw” videos. But everyone has their own preferences. I wouldn’t call one or the other “a joke”.

@@tommyli8726 I think that the dji osmo pocket is the best purchase up to 550 usd if we ignore that it is not an action camera, and that it is not for all weather conditions, but for such a small camera and even with a gimbal, senozor 1.0 and 10bit is something incredible not only for beginners, but also for professionals who don't want to pay several thousand dollars for a more expensive, better quality camera, and for social networks, KZbin itself has unbeatable image quality compared to all other action, 360, pocket cameras in that range

@@NishakaWickrama well, actually you can. Just look at the footage of the just released Insta360 Ace Pro 2. It blows the Action 5 Pro away in low light. I’m happy the footage and camera works for you. Genuinely happy, as you’ve spent your hard earned cash on it. It’s a decent light for sure, I don’t use it anymore since I wanted something bigger after a while, but it the 60 watts is enough for you (in controlled lighting), this is a banger light. I’d consider getting the bigger light some too if so.
