Her lifespan as an airliner may be coming to an end in the near future, but she will always be the Queen of the Skies to me.... Beautiful aircraft.
@youchris675 жыл бұрын
I see people wondering why the leading edge slats were extended for so long. Reason is that this was a heavy, fully loaded takeoff that had a high stall speed because of all the extra weight of people, their luggage and the fuel needed to fly them through the air. The plane simply needed to gather enough airspeed so that the wings had sufficient lift to keep the plane climbing into the increasingly thin air on ascent. Once the aircraft passed stall speed--the leading edge slats retracted. By the way, they function completely automatically as the flight computer is fed airspeed data from the pitot tubes and altimeter data. They'll extend by themselves as well during the final descent to lower the stall speed needed for a clean and safe decent to the ground. Gorgeous footage by the way.

On Airbuses they stow by themselves but on Boeings they don't, its all done manually

That plane belongs in the sky. Beautiful engineering! I could watch those engines smoothly work for hours. Mesmerizing.

Beautiful takeoff. I was wondering when the flaps/ slats were going to go up? Seemed like it was taking awhile. Very impressed with the flight attendant speaking three languages with ease.

I love how you can hear those engines better when those slats get out of the way. Those engines have come a long way, can the engineering get even better? They are huge!

Great video! So many cool things to see, like the vortices coming off the engine nacelle VCD's (Vortex Control Devices) and the low pressure vapor kicking in over the top of the wing. I was watching the leading edge Krueger Flaps the whole time. I was surprised how long the pilot left them deployed, and also that they had no buffet or vibration at all. I'm always amazed when they retract that they don't entirely destroy the lift on the wing in transition, but it seems to go very smoothly! What a fantastic airplane (very biased opinion! LOL!).

Just imagine a sports car alongside setting off at the same time and maybe getting to 60/80mph just ahead of this massive heavily laden jet but then being overtaken on the runway by 90mph before being left trailing as the jet takes off at 150+mph. Incredible.

I might not be that big into modern airliners as I am into the older ones, but I have to admit I will always marvel at the new engines, and how they seem to PUSH the aircraft through the air, compared to say, the JT9D of the 747-100 and 200, where it feels the engines are trying to pull the aircraft through the air with great effort put into it. Both have a certain charm to them.

Vortices which are caused by the small vanes at the cowling. The air is force into a vortex which causes low air pressure inside it and lowers the temperature of it, which will make the air reach its dewpoint for the given humidity and condensation happens.

For ever the most beutiful airliner, though it seems to be in a soon future the end of it's majestic roaring through the skies, it will remain as the ever to be the Queen of the skies, but what it sades me the most it is look at them rusting and wearing out in a boneyard in California high desert, close to Lancaster there are many beuties but if curse because of its mighty size it is very noticeble among the rest, it is very sad looking how do they end up, they should doneta them for parks or school where they can still looking all shiny and all mighty like in their old days.
