The reason players don’t argue too much against umpires is because they immediately get panelized. Umpire’s decision is final decision. Period. Even if you know it’s not correct you just have to deal with it.

You can watch Indian premier league (IPL). It's a shorter format, so it's high voltage. It was about to start this month, but since the virus it's postponed. I guess next month. You can learn a lot and it's fun too. You can probably watch then talk about it, or react while watching a live match. You will surely love it. Thanks guys.

I understand guys I feel it too . Some commenters are too rude. They just diss baseball without knowing anything about the game. The truth is baseball batting is harder than cricket batting because your bat is not very wide (for a cricket fan try batting with a stamp stick you 'll understand what I m saying). I have played both games. For me baseball batting is harder but cricket batting is more strategic and more dangerous.

You are right but when the pitch becomes the part of the game it brings so many variables to the game. And there are spin bowlers as well. So cricket indeed is more brain and tactics involving sport than Baseball . It's just some people like mocking other sports that's they say ⚾ is brainless morons game
@najibyarzerachic
@najibyarzerachic 4 жыл бұрын
@@jageshwarisahu3240 true. Actually facing a baseball you have to decide to hit or leave, and if you hit is it for home run or down the ground. So there is brain involved. In cricket when the ball bounces that actually gives you an idea when to try hitting as most batsmen wait for that moment. The other thing is with cricket even if you are not sure where the ball pitches (touches the surface) you can still swing the bat in the line of the ball and make a contact ( straight bat) in baseball that is not possible because if you do that ( I have done that) the ball goes in the faul zone coz the front of the bat is not flat it is round and you basically get out.

Pitchers in baseball have several different type of pitches and all range from 70 to 100 mph. Most have serious movement. It is very hard for the hitter to adjust, like in Cricket in the moment to the type of pitch being hit. Cricket has no gloves. That is awesome and super hard. Cricket gets 4 runs for the ball hitting the boundary wall. In baseball, if it hits the wall it doesn't count as a run unless it takes that long for the defender to get to it. So many differences and similarities.

@@najibyarzerachic you decide to try and hit or leave in cricket. Plus, swinging in a direct line to where the ball pitches is exactly what bowlers want you to do. Thats the tactic, get a few to go straight through, then when batsman thinks they know what type of shot to play to hit that bowl, you get the ball to change direction from the bounce, catch the bat edge and fielders behind catch you out.

Everyone has to bat, the bowling section of the batting order is called the tail end and nothing much is expected from them, that said there has been quite a few occasions when an inspired tailend batsman has played out of his skin and saved or even won a match from an unlikely situation. Brett Lee has done this and famously came close again during the 2005 Ashes series in England.

Bret Lee wasn’t much of a batsman, he batted around number 9 in the order & was brave and tried to do a job for his team but any runs he scored would have been considered a bonus, not expected. If your teams ‘par score’ on a given pitch is for example 300, you wouldn’t expect the last 3 batters to score more than 20 or 30 of those. The onus is on the first 6 or 7 batters to get the majority of the score. What ever the last few can get you is just the icing on the cake. Re the old ball comments, in a test match the same ball is used for 80 overs (480 balls). So by the end it is soft and has lost its shine. It doesn’t swing as much, will come off the pitch slower and won’t bounce as high as a new ball. Also the fast bowlers will have bowled many of those overs so will be be tired and into their 3rd or 4th spells of the day so probably not able to hit their top speeds anymore. The aim of the top 6 batsmen is to start off very risk averse to ensure they ‘see off’ the new ball. Later in the day they can cash in as conditions become easier for them. In a test match you might see an average of perhaps 2.5 runs per over in the first 30 overs, then maybe 3.5 runs per over scored in the next 30 overs and up to 4 or even 5 runs per over in overs 60 to 80. That will vary with the pitch, heat and weather conditions around the world but is a fairly typical template.

I loved it when Gabe noticed the thumb underneath the ball. BTW I think setting up the opposition happens in almost sports. Some of the players do look to injure the batsmen... Well atleast the intent is there. 90s Pakistani bowlers were notorious for that esp. Sohaib akhtar Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram. There is a whole video on different types of bouncers from Shoaib Akhtar's (The fastest bowler in the world) channel... I wish I knew how to add subs for that video. Also many Indians know very little about baseball... So Thank you for giving an insight into the rules of baseball and the psychic of the pitcher.

That is a good thought about all sports setting up the opposition. I just found the striking similarities between each of these sports setting up the batter and batsmen strategically, instead of just throwing it hard.
@Anjula321

Bowlers are normally not good batsman and comes into bat after 5 or 6 outs. So they don't get to face much balls and often they don't get to bat at all (when the opposition fails to get 5-6 people out). Most bowlers tend to be sloggers , who comes in late and smash a few sixes but can't build a long innings. That is of course in short form cricket (50 overs or 20 overs). In Test Cricket (which is played for 5 days with each team having two innings) , bowlers will have to bat. In this form having bowlers that are somewhat decent with the bat is actually beneficial. But they are not expected to score much. if there's a good batsman at the other end , a bowlers job is to hold his end and try not to get out and leave the scoring to the proper batsman. And if there's no proper batsman at the other end , they just try to score as fast as they can before they get out.

Ok I will give you some more details so you can understand the game better. I have played baseball and watched a lot of games between 2009 and 2014. Biggest factor that makes cricket more adventurous is pitch, the 22 yard brown pitch between stumps. Pitch varies alot, between countries, like pitch in Australia are fast swinging with hard bounce, pitch in England are fast swinging and damp, in India they are flat and sometimes dry which helps spinners alot. So now lets say the match is at Rajkot, India that pitch is heaven for batsman complete flat no help for fast bowler or spinners, only thing you can do is bowl good line and Length and hope you won't get hit out of the park. 350-400 is normal score and if you have people like Chrish Gayle or Sehwag or Dhoni it might be the worst day for a bowler. The faster you bowl the faster you get hit out of the park. Now come to pitch like Lords England, its fast, it swings and bounces too. Its heaven for bowlers and nightmare for batsman like Gayle Sehwag and Dhoni as they are not technical batsman and people with pure technical skill can only survive at those pitches people like Sachin or Dravid or Kohli. Now team selection is also very tricky depending on pitch you are playing and conditions around it. In India you should have at least 2 spinners in your squad sometime even 3 and 2 batsman who can bowl decent spin. In Australia you should have at least 3-4 fast bowler and one or max 2 spinners because it helps fast bowler alot, thats why Shane Warne is considered genius because he played at the pitches in Australia and England where he dint get any help as spinner so most of the time it was his mind games and strategy that got him wicket. Another important thing is all-rounder, a person who can bat and bowl this makes alot of difference to your balance as now you can either add and extra bowler or batsman depending on conditions. Another thing is left and right handed batsman partnership. So if there are 2 right handed batsman out there than its easy for bowlers to ball as the line and Length remain same but if one left handed and one right handed are out there than it screws with bowlers mind as he constantly has to adjust his line and Length Everytime Batman cross and this results in some bad balls. This are just some important variables there are alot more like due that makes ball wet and results in no swing or spin, or like selection of shot, outfield, ground size, wind, and so on.

Usually bowlers are not good batters. Hence batsman try to chase runs before they lose 5-6 wickets. Opposition team try to get first six wickets as quickly as possible so that they get a chance to ball at bowlers. Bret lee was a decent batsman

So each of the 11 players have a specific role to play. I will explain for test match (5 days). The top 5 are specialist batsmen. The opening 2 batsmen will be very brave and specialist in dealing with the outswingers, inswingers and the Yorkers. If they are good enough to get through the first 10-15 overs, then it's good for the team because the red ball doesn't swing as much after that until the 50th-55th over when it gets really old. This is when reverse swings come in - you know how Brett Lee was trying to explain that in order to swing the ball away from batsman, he keeps the shiny side on the opposite side. Well reverse swing happens in opposite way, the ball will swing in the same direction as the shiny side. No. 3 batsman will be someone to hold down the fort if one of the top 2 get out early. He has to be able to play defensive as well as aggressive. Rahul Dravid (you did a reaction to his video) was a no. 3 batsman. He was known as "The Wall" because there were numerous times when the team was in trouble, and his job was to be defensive and he was so good at it. Like he wouldn't score the runs but he would just frustrate a world class bowler like Brett Lee by not getting out and not scoring runs. You'd think that not scoring runs is a good thing for the opposition but it can also be a very frustrating thing when the batsman just decides to defend and defend and defend and not let that wall break. Rahul Dravid is regarded as the best No. 3 batsman in the world of all time. No. 4 batsman is usually someone who will be extremely good and as well as keep the runs scoring at a good rate. Most international teams have their best batsman at no. 4 (Joe Root of England, Virat Kohli of India - Sachin Tendulkar was India's no. 4 for a long time before he retired then Virat Kohli took over, Steve Smith of Australia, Ab de Villers of South Africa - before he retired, etc) - in this way I have given you some batsman to check out as well.. maybe you'll move on from bowling. In my opinion currently, Virat Kohli is the best white ball batsman (any non Test Match format. In test match he is 2nd in my opinion). Steve Smith is best in Test Matches..anyway.. continuing.. No. 5 batsman is the last specialist batsman or you could say the last batting defence. Although all batsman technically should know how to face different types of ball, it's really important for the top 2 and no. 5 batsman. Because you can change the ball once its 80 overs old (480 legal balls) so when you get a new ball after that, the swing will come back and statistically, at that time it's usually a no. 5 batsman on the crease. Then comes the wicketkeeper. The wicketkeeper should also know how to bat really good otherwise he wouldn't be just selected as a wicketkeeper in the team. Then you have 5 players left. Now these 5 could all be specialist bowlers. Or 1 all rounder and 4 specialist bowlers. Or 2 all rounders and 3 specialist bowlers. This depends on which country you're playing in, what's the weather like, what type of pitch it is. For e.g. India uses red soil for many pitches, so usually the ball swings good on the first hour of the first day, but when the ball becomes old, it's a batting friendly pitch. But the pitch then becomes good for spinners. So generally if a team is playing in india, they would have 5 specialist batsmen, 1 wicketkeeper, 1 spinning all rounder (someone who can bat decently and can bowl decently - but both not as good as a specialist batsman or a bowler but if he is that good then that's a bonus), 1 specialist spin bowler and 3 fast specialist bowlers. If you're playing in Australia, it has pitches that are fast paced and bouncy with a little bit of brown grass. The grass will eventually go away over a day or so with cracks being formed which will help in variable bounce so you'd definitely have 4 specialist fast bowlers to be dominant and scary and in their faces. But 1 or 2 of them can bat a little if they have to save their necks in for a little while. And then 1 specialist spinner. Spinner because usually the pitch deteriorates over days and can leave black spots on the pitch due to batsman running on the side with their spiked shoes. These black spots assist spinners to create a huge spin. In England, the weather is usually overcast and lot of green grass on the pitch which assists in swing. So again accordingly, you choose your bowling options. Usually when teams travel to England, they tend to have an extra batsmen and 1 less bowler because bowlers are very effective there but runs are hard to come by so an extra batsman helps. The way test match works both sides get to bat and field twice. So when a match starts let's say 1st team bat and hopefully score in excess of 500 and then declare before all 10 wickets have fallen so Not all 11 players have to bat necessarily in a test match. If the team captain thinks they have scored enough runs, they can declare their innings. Very rarely it has happened that the team has scored over 500 and still lost. Then the 2nd team gets to bat. If they score more than 200 runs less than the 1st team, then the 1st team has the option of either letting the 2nd team bat again or they can choose to bat the 2nd time themselves. E.g. 1 Team 1 1st innings: 550/5 (declared) Team 2 1st innings: 325/10 At this stage team 2 trails team 1 by 225 runs. Team 1 has the option of enforcing follow on or bat again. Team 1 chooses to enforce follow on so team 2 will bat again. Team 2 2nd innings: 350/10 Team 1 now needs 126 runs to win. Team 1 2nd innings: 126/2 Team 1 wins by 8 wickets. E.g. 2 Team 1 1st innings: 550/5 (declared) Team 2 1st innings: 400/10 Team 2 trails team 1 by 150 runs. So team 1 will have to bat again. They dont have a choice here Team 1 2nd innings: 200/7 (declared) Team 2 needs 351 runs to win Team 2 2nd innings: 300/10 Team 1 wins by 50 runs. Test matches can also end in a draw if after 5 days both sides have not fully battled or gotten the opposite sides all out twice. That's usually the dumb point people always talk about in cricket that after 5 gruelling days, it can still end in a draw. Hope this info helped.

Bowlers also have to bat. But they are not good at batting so it's easy pickings for the opposition. However fast bowlers have strong arms hence if they connect the swing it usually goes for big sixes. There are people who are good at both batting and bowling.They are called all-rounders. Allrounders are MVPs in shorter formats of the game like in T20 leagues.

Just to give you guys an idea of the different types of deliveries you find in cricket. Fast bowlers can bowl Bouncers, Yorkers, Inswingers, Outswingers, Reverse swing, Leg cutters, Off cutters, Knuckleballs, Slower balls (which also have different variations) and Beamers (which are actually illegal). Fast bowlers are divided into Swing bowlers who can mainly move the ball through the air and Seam bowlers who can mainly move the ball off the pitch. Obviously you get bowlers that can do both. You also get bowlers who bowl with a low arm trajectory like Malinga who skids the ball off the surface and bowlers who bowl with a high arm trajectory like Mitch Johnson who get a lot of bounce off the wicket. Offspinners (who usually mainly use their fingers to spin the ball) can bowl Off breaks, Doosras, Topspinners, Arm Balls, Carrom Balls and Teesras. Legspinners (who usually mainly use their wrists to spin the ball) can bowl Leg Breaks, Googlys (aka Wrong-uns), Topspinners, Flippers, Sliders and Flicker balls. Spin bowlers also have a lot of variations in the speed and trajectory of their deliveries, often making sure that the ball goes with a loop, higher than the batsmens eyeline as it makes it more difficult to pick up the trajectory of the ball. The great bowlers are able to bowl all sorts of variations between the different types of deliveries. I am sure I am forgetting some deliveries which other people may add below. Also the reason why people refer to cricket as intellectual or being played in your head is more specifically referring to 5 day test match cricket which is the purists preferred format where bowlers will sometimes take 10 or 20 balls to set up a batsmen for one specific ball in order to get him out. Test matches are extremely tactical. To win a test match a team's bowlers need to take 20 wickets over 5 days, which is why it is often said that bowlers win test matches and batsmen win limited overs matches.

All thoss clips from Brett Lees masterclass were from Test matches that last for 5 days. This is the purest form of cricket. Real cricket. With 5 days to fool around with, a batsman can just defend, defend and defend; unlike baseball where a batsman connects with the ball, and they have to run. This key difference means that a bowler spends more time in setting up a batsman as compared to baseball.

12:31 IMO it's largely due to the perception that baseball has violence/fights & Cricket doesn't, then the constant comparison gets such a reaction. 13:19 That's another difference. In Cricket the variety of Bowlers & their Bowling is so much that there's never a set order, it'll be different for every Bowler while pitchers don't really appear all that different (except may be in speed variations). 15:18 But that's just the beginning of Bowling in Cricket. Gripping the ball properly is important to get the Ball move in the air (which obviously happens in baseball also) but to also get the Ball move as it hits the Pitch (called Pitching in Cricket) & bounces in certain direction (which obviously cannot happen in baseball). 17:21 I think I love you Gabe coz I love Bowling too (you can see the profile pic & my twitter header pic say "Cricket will be nothing without Wickets Ìi̊Í") & I can see you're a real sports fan as only a genuine sports fan would be able to see the beauty of Bowling in Cricket despite being new to the game. I don't consider Bowling as defence, in Cricket both offensive & defensive forms of both Bowling & Batting exist & I enjoy offensive/aggressive Bowling also called attack Bowling. 18:36 Yes it's allowed to have your arm come from the side & not just over the shoulder (Malinga is probably the best example though not the only example). You're not allowed to bend your elbow while Bowling (or delivering the Ball) coz it gives an extra advantage to Bowlers allowing the Balls to go faster & bounce higher. So the restrictions are placed to keep Bowling more disciplined & not too dangerous. Bowling after all did started as Ball being rolled on the ground (hence the name Bowling) & slowly evolved to bouncing but underarm & then slowly the arm kept rising as Bowlers tried to gain advantage over the Batsmen (search for history or evolution of Cricket Bowling & you may find some articles on it). Now oddly enough the original underarm form of Bowling is banned as it's considered unfair play lol (check for underarm bowling scandal). 21:00 There are instances where Bowlers, Fielding Captains or even Batsmen do disagree with the Umpire's decision. They can't show too much disagreement on the field coz that results in a fine which does happen but not as common as in other sports like may be baseball (not sure) or even Football where players disagree openly with referees resulting in yellow & red cards. In Cricket you're expected to respect Umpire's decision even if he's wrong in which case you make a complaint at the end of the match regarding any bad decision by the Umpire. 21:34 I'd say he was a good Batsman for a Bowler. In Cricket once a match starts all a team has is the Playing 11, no 12th player (except substitute Fielders in case someone is retired hurt/injured) is allowed to take part nor any coach/manager can take the field to give any advice, just the final Playing 11. So Bowling, Fielding, Wicket Keeping & also Batting is done by just those 11 which means you have specialists in your team some are known best for Batting, some fir Bowling, often just one for Wicket Keeping & then there are All Rounders kown for both Batting & Bowling (Batting All Rounders: Batsmen who can also Bowl & Bowling All Rounders: Bowlers who can also Bat but I'd call Wicket Keepers as All Rounders too since they Keeps Wickets & also Bat). The Playing 11 then basically has specialist Batsmen (who only Bat & can't Bowl nor do they have to) who often Bat at the top order (to make it less likely for others to have to Bat who are not as good & later in the order), then usually are the All Rounders along with the Wicket Keeper in the middle order & last are the Bowlers who Bat in lowest order (only if they have to which is if top & middle order Wickets fall) & they're called tail enders. 24:25 That does happen. Often Fast Bowlers will Bowl Bouncers (& even hit) to opposing team's Bowlers when they come to Bat & you see the reaction from these Bowlers (who came to Bat) suggesting they want to give some payback when their team is Bowling & the Bowler (who just Bowled bouncer or hit him) comes to Bat which certainly happens.

Most team have five batsmen four bowlers and two allrounders which can do both well . The main difference is they can move the ball of the pitch as well as through the air . You have to get the hole team out so everyone has to bat . Only four or five get to bowl .

When a bowler steps over the line then it's called a "No Ball", the batting team gets 1 extra run and the bowler has to bowl again. Moreover, the next ball that he would ball is called a "free hit" i.e. the batsman won't be given out even if it hits the stumps or the fielder catches it. Verbal scuffle with the umpires do happen but very less because both sides get 2 reviews against the umpires decision i.e. the tv umpire watches the ball in slowmo and takes decision. Sometimes when field umpires are in doubt then also they refer to tv umpire to take the decision. If the ball is bowled too far away from the batsman then it's called a "wide ball", the batting side gets 1 extra run in that case as well and bowler has to bowl again. Sometimes players do argue with umpires regarding NO Ball and Wide ball but too much badgering the umpire gets the player his match fees cut by certain percentage or even 1-2 matches ban. As for bowlers batting. Yeah, they do have to bat. All 11 players have to bat. See, during batting there always have to be two batsman on the field, one on striking end and other at the bowlers end, so necessarily 2 batsmen are supposed to be on the field. They each get to bat according to the strike change.That is why 10 wickets rule, the last player can't bat alone. To get a balanced team it's best to have 4-5 specialist batsmen, 2 allrounders who can both bat and ball well, 2 Spin bowlers, 3 fast bowlers or according to the situation and field.

Free hit is only in the hit and giggle cricket matches. In real (test) cricket it is just 1 run and re-bowl. In all forms you can't be given out (unless run-out) on the actual no-ball.

The 95mph balls are considered some of the fastest balls that can be bowled. The difference between pitching and bowling is that in pitching, they throw the ball like throwing a stone. While in cricket, they bowl it round arm and not underarm. throwing the ball like pitching or bowling underarm is illegal.

@@52.divyanshusharma4 By previous rules in ODIs, 2 balls were used during one inning. A ball change was done around 35 overs. Option was given the captain to take a new ball within 33-37 overs, after 37 it was mandatory. But now according to the new rules, by default 2 balls r used from the beginning itself. One from each end of the Pitch. Each umpire will carry one ball each with him in the field. That brings down to 25 overs per ball, so the ball will not completely wear off, so no ball change required in the middle of an inning.

The pitch (the ground) is different in most every country. E.g. in India, they aren't as bouncy, so bowlers who spin are important. You'll choose left-handed and right-handed bowlers to try and upset left- and right-handed batsmen.

There are specialist players in cricket like batsman (specialist in batting, they don't bowl or their bowling is not upto the mark of international standards )- must Bowlers (specialist bowlers )- must All rounders ( players who can perform both Batting & bowling - it's a really tough trick) great to have / teams can also play without all rounders Wicketkeeper (another specialist position can be filled only by players who are trained to work behind the wickets ) mandatory to have . Batsman are of two types by their batting stance LHB / RBH (Left/Right handed batsman). They have further been divided into 1. Aggressive (they love to bash bowlers & milk quick runs for their team usually plays at top(1/2)or bottom (5/6/7) of Batting innings before bowlers Notable Mentions : Virender Sehwag(India) /Adam Gilchrist ( Australia)/ Ab devillers (South Africa)/ Yuvraj Singh (India)/ Chris Gayle(West Indies) / Brandon McCullum(NzL) / Sanath Jayasuriya (SriLanka) 2. Moderate (they can blend both attacking & defensive game with ease) Notable mentions: Sachin Tendulkar (India) / Ricky ponting (Australia) / Brain Lara (West Indies) / Inzamam ul haq (Pakistan) / M.S Dhoni (India) 3. Defensive ( they are not like they don't like scoring runs. It's they play with lot of assurance & caution keeping a prize or Bounty on their wicket) nowdays this is a rare breed. Approach more suited to test cricket or five day cricket. Notable names: Rahul Dravid (you must have heard his name 😉) / Aliaster Cook (England) / Geoffrey boycott(England) / Sunil Gavaskar (India) The style is just a theoritical representation of mindset of batsman. In real situation a batsman is required to assess the situation & adjust the temperament accordingly. Cricket is a temperament game & batsman are required to adjust their mindset according to the situation they are in. I will write about bowlers, wicketkeeper & all rounders in next comments. NOTE: don't burn me for keeping Dravid in defensive category 😬😬

All players have to bat. Some bowlers have a reputation as being a "walking wicket" as they are not as good as the main batsmen. Most bowlers will surprise now and again, some have scored over 200 runs in 1 innings (that is in a Test Match which is over 5 days) I am enjoying your channel, love cricket in all it's formats, a T20 or 20/20 match might be the best for you to start off with as it is the most energetic and exciting. To me that would be the most like a baseball game (which I also love by the way). I am English and just love sport (strange thing for a lady!)

Tech Talk.Bowler wants to pitch the ball up, hopefully swing in the air, or cut off the seam when it pitches on the wicket, then hit the stumps or get an edge.Batsman when ball is pitched up needs to play straight through the line of the ball.Here ball doesn't move and Brett Lee hits maybe the most technically beautiful and biggest six you're ever likely to see.Watch through and the commentary at the end...bus ticketkzbin.info/www/bejne/nGSbiIubftl0hrOib: I've just caught onto your cricket Tuesday vids. In recent cricket each team gets 2 reviews per innings. If they disagree with field umpires(there are 2 of them on field) they can call the review and third umpire will check on replays and can override the field umpire's decision. But in any case umpire's decision is final. Sometimes player gets mad but can't do much about it

Bowlers having to bat can make drawn games exciting... the bowling team only need to get 1 or 2 wickets more to win and the batting team have two guys who aren't that good at batting just trying to survive and not get out until the end if the day.
