You know how much India is crazy about cricket right?.... Losing in the world cup semi final 2019 was so emotional... Everyone’s dreams shattered... everyone in tears... . Newzealand was the country who defeated India in the semis.... . but still whole of India supported them in the finals against England... coz they are such nice people... that’s the level of sportsmanship 😍 . Even after England won the world cup, ppl on twitter and whole of India was congratulating the New zealand captain like - “The cup doesn’t deserve you”...”You might not have won the cup, but have won our hearts”... . these are some of the things why we love cricket so much 🙈

McCullum is one of the greatest T20 batsmen of all time right up the top along side the likes of Gayle. While both have elite power they did it a slightly different way. Gayle had that classic big man stand and hit power, where ass McCullum used more footwork and inventiveness with the scoop shoot etc.

Interesting fact about cricket. Pretty much unless the batsman is bowled the fielding side has to ask the umpire if he considers the batsman to be out so that is why you hear and see the bowler and the fielding side yell out things like "How is that!" usually shortened to "Howzat!". A batsman is only out when the umpire says so and he must be asked before he can adjudicate.

If the batsman hits the ball in to the wicket at the opposite end of the pitch it doesn't get the other batsman out, but if it deflects off the bowler and the non striking batsman is out of his crease (not back behind the line) he will be out. If a batsman deflects the ball on to his own wicket he is out though.

The overhead shot he was using is considered a cheeky shot in cricket. It's not a proper cricketing shot, it's something batsmen have improvised in the last 5-10 years to use the ball's pace and score easy runs. The area behind the batsman is not guarded so you can easily get a 4 or a 6 when you play this shot, but if you don't time it properly you can get out very easily too. It's kind of a high-risk, high-return new age shot. Most top order batsmen won't use it that much because they have the responsibility of scoring for their team and they wouldn't want to take so many chances. In this case either the bowlers kept missing or he was lucky that he was able to use it that frequently. He was also timing it quite well.
@SDR05054 жыл бұрын
The numbers next to the runs are wickets. Also i believe the captain of the teams play a very important role, coaches are just on the sidelines. Captain decides order of batsmen and where to put their fielders etc, that's what make captain an important part of the team. The batsman such as him also look around to see where there is openings in order to hit the ball there and captains also switch ballers and fielders around to adapt to the batsman.. so there is a lot of strategic play happening on tge field. That is what makes it interesting.

I wonder if you could do a video of classy test batsmen like Ian Bell who played for England, Rahul Dravid who played for India. Those guys have great technique like Edgar Martinez, Manny Ramirez, Ken Griffey Jr., Miguel Cabrera, etc. A lot of the reaction you guys did focus on big hitting but the grace and elegance of batting is something you guys I feel would enjoy just as much. The batting of Ian Bell and Rahul Dravid has been described as poetry in motion. Bell 241 is one such example. He caresses the ball as opposed to blugeoning it, finds gap and plays high percentage shots. Great to watch just for the skills and batsmanship. Cheers!

Answering your question about the batsman knocking off the wickets at the opposite end , if the batsman hits the wickets on the other end directly then nobody is out but if the bowler manages to touch the ball before it hits the wickets and if the runner is out of his crease (the safe zone) when the ball hits then the runner is given out.
@ross74234 жыл бұрын
a hundred is a big milestone but it does happen pretty often in test cricket. It's more special considering in T20 cricket the whole team only faces 120 balls or 20 overs so to do it you have to take a lot of risk and essentially swing for the stands and come off the winner.

God there are so many parallels you can draw between cricket and baseball and can share so much technique-wise. So tell me, do you think a straight-batted shot will be effective in baseball, specially for pitches that are closer to the body? I mean instead of a horizontal bat shot where the batter would be crunched for space, swing a straight bat to the pitches closer to the body so he can use the full length of the bat and chances of missing it are lower. Ofcourse this is assuming that hes good enough to know every inch of his bat. Thoughts?

Few doubts that you had while reacting: 1. Yes, if the batsman hits it high in the air, best to run at least 1 run and hope the catch is dropped. 2. When the batsman hits straight ahead and it hits the wickets on the other end, he is NOT OUT. But, his partner - the guy standing on the opposite end, could be in trouble if the ball even just touched the hands of the bowler while going to hit the wickets. If that happens, they refer it to the 3rd umpire to get a closer look firstly to confirm whether the bowler is telling the truth that the ball did hit his hands while going to the wickets and then they check at the time the ball hit the wickets, the batsman was inside the white line or not. If he was then NOT OUT. If he was outside the white line then its OUT. 3. Yes if the bowler is of a good height then it is an advantage and yes if he leaves the ball from a certain height then he can get a good bouncer BUT, all of that really doesn't matter much if this bowler who is not that tall, is getting the ball at the level of Batsman's neck/head. This is because ball cannot be bowled above batsmans head. If this happens, then it's considered a WIDE BALL. This means the batting team will get an extra run even if the batsman has not hit the ball and that ball will not be counted. So the batting team will get an extra ball to play. 4. Brendon McCullum is one of the most fearless batsman that the world has seen. He retired 2-3 years ago. Over the years New Zealand were known to be very competitive but reserved and soft. They appeared in 6 50over World Cup Semi Finals and lost in every one of them. Brendon took over the captaincy and he made Nz an aggressive competitive team. He was the 1st to captain NZ to the finals of a world cup in 2015 but they lost the finals to Aus. Brendon holds the record of fastest century in a Test Match. 5. Good score in cricket depends on the type of pitch you're playing on. But let's just assume its 80% batting friendly which is probably the most common type of pitch - yes cricket is very biased towards batting team and a lot of rules in cricket favour the batting team. So on a pitch which is 80% batting friendly: T20 score: 180+ 50 over score: 300+ Test Match: 500+ If it's a bowler friendly pitch or a slow pitch where there isnt much pace: T20: 140+ 50 over: 240+ Test Match: 300+
@DoubleMonoLR4 жыл бұрын
As a kiwi, I think saying NZ was soft/reserved previously is an exaggeration. Partly they may have been perceived that way as NZ relied mostly on medium pacers(dibbly-dobblies they were referred to as, lol) for a long time. Having Boult, Southee, etc later added a lot of firepower and reliability in the bowling. Batting often had a lot of firepower(as seen in the Chappell Hadlee series they won against Australia, where all 3 games went over 300 when that wasn't a common score), though it didn't always come off. McCullum did have aggressive fielding patterns etc, but he also had a team to suit. The T20 experiences of a number of them possibly helped too. Fleming was widely known for being an excellent captain, though was actually criticized(fairly) for giving the team too much of a combative attitude at one point. Back in 1992, they tried very unique approaches at the world cup - opening the bowling with a spinner, and using pinch hitters to open(pretty much unheard of at the time) WIlliamson has a very different style, but has obviously also been very successful. NZ performed better at the end of the 2019 WC than they did in 2015, and away from home, despite some poor player selections and form for a lot of the world cup. While McCullum was very good later in his career, I think he gets too much credit for the results. I think this perception is more common outside NZ, than within NZ though. NZ was never really expected to reach a final at any particular world cup, except perhaps in 1992 when Crowe got injured and the replacement captain blew a lead against Pakistan. They almost always finished higher than expected. ie: They reached way more semi-finals than expected, but probably should've won one earlier from the number of opportunities, even though they were almost always the underdog. South Africa have a worse record at world cups, even with generally very strong teams, they've still never won a semi-final. NZ haven't lost to SA at a world cup since 1999! Unfortunately SA choked quite a few times, including against NZ in 2015. Wow, that ended up long ;)
@karanz1514 жыл бұрын
@@DoubleMonoLR As a kiwi, even I agree that calling them aggressive but soft is quite an exaggeration. However, I only wanted to give an example of the difference between teams like Aus and NZ. Yes it's true that while McCullum was captain, he had a strong bowling unit that he could rely on - Boult, Southee, etc.. However, the aggressiveness on the field only started post vettori, Taylor captaincy. Again not saying that Fleming's or Vettori's team was weak in any way. However, Fleming's team was competing perhaps against the golden era of Aus teams where they had firepower in all the departments. And this made NZ look reserved in many matches. McCullum only spent a little time as captain in his late career for 4 years but those were his best years. I have lived in Auckland, Hamilton, Dunedin. Almost wherever you go, you'll only hear praise for what McCullum has done for the country. His aggressive tactics is perhaps what made NZ qualify for final.. He may not have been the best in his early days but he soon grasped what was required of him as a captain in an era where T20 format has been induced in all formats.

*Whatever you see in bold is, Team Name (country/club) then teams total score and number of out players...NZ 94-4 (New Zealand 94 runs scored 4 players are out) below are number of overs/balls bowled.. Individual score is shown occasionally or consistently in live match. Cricket generally have firm batting style but like this guy there are many other guys who kinda play reckless but very aggresive style it's good for shorter format like T20 (120 balls game) these player play fancy sometimes stupid shots..n get out cheaply most often.... fans and coach don't like throwing up wickets like that but in T20 you need players like him coz there is not much time to settle and stand for later coz very soon balls will be over so just score as many as possible by any damn style just send the ball out of ground as many times possible... because of these player the franchise cricket exploded and draw new fans and more money...there are other cricketers who are as attacking and more consistent like Mike Trout ...and get highest bidding in franchise cricket...for hardcore cricket fans cricket is game of patience but this new shorter format and attacking style is hijacking the cricket. And like you said all 11 players can score 100 and make team reach 1100 ... it's impossible how u gonna score 1100 runs in 120 balls or 300 balls ?..Shaun Tait bowls at 96 to 100mph u need bat like thor's hammer and Earth size good luck to score a century ..you have seen how pacers swing the ball*

There cricket height players a very role for a fast bowler, since they can bouncer the ball way much higher than an average person... And that too with ease. For the batsmen both tall and short batsmen have their own advantages....the bowler has to adjust his length depending on the height of the batsmen. The definition of good length ball defers based on the height of the batsmen. PS. I died laughing when Gabe's phone rang... I thought I would see him again struggle with his iwatch
