I've been doing close grip feetup for about 4'ish mesos now. Comp bench is way more stable now. Really damn good.

Update6 months and I'm still loving this bench. kzbin.infoUgkxo_64lVTGMk7y4aXTPxPOcQ3YTLyQ6kYV I use it almost daily. I've gotten used to the small wobble and it's no problem at all. Love the storage, it folds right next to my weight set in the garage and hardly takes any space. I wish the covering material was a little bit tougher. I have a feeling that in a couple years it'll tear, but the bench is very well priced that I would just buy a new one.3 month usage review. Awesome bench for someone looking for compactness and storage. I did have to drill a couple holes to adjust my preferred seating position and leg bar position but that's only due to my personal preference. It's very sturdy for normal workouts, but for anyone going above 100# dumbbell press it wobbles ever so slightly. I would probably go with a fixed bench if that's the case. That being said i can accomplish 99% of my normal gym workout with this setup. Very happy with the purchase.

I don't flat bench anymore but I do lots of incline. Close grip incline presses and incline skullcrushers help a lot for it

Hi Chad. I was wondering what your thoughts are on dumbbell bench press as an option for improving the competition bench? Thanks
@JuggernautTrainingSystems3 жыл бұрын
Can definitely be helpful, flat, incline and floor press. Just make sure you’re being honest with ROM because some people cheat that and become good DB benchers without becoming good benchers.

Its ok, can build confidence with heavier weights. I find it disrupts technique for many people.

Chad/Jugger not a fan of the swiss/football bar bench press, just wondering why?
@JuggernautTrainingSystems3 жыл бұрын
Its a good injury workaround for shoulder issues and I use it with Football, BJJ, MMA guys pretty often but have never found it very useful for powerlifters.

Could the spoto press be done with dumbbells? Might add it in along with the close grip. As bench has always been my weakest lift in comparison to my squat & dead.
@JuggernautTrainingSystems3 жыл бұрын
So basically just lowering the dumbbells fast and having a short pause? Yea I suppose so but can't vouch for its efficacy

Thank you Chad for the video as always! How would you implement those exercises into a weekly routine with (or without) the regular bench press?
@JuggernautTrainingSystems3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. They could be done in lieu of regular bench press, particularly in a general or hypertrophy phase, or done after normal bench pressing during a strength phase, ie. Comp Bench Press 4x6 followed by one of these exercises for 3x6 type of thing or if you are benching 3-4x/week, you may just do one of these variations on 1-2 of those days.

How come close grip bench is not an option on the JAI app?
@JuggernautTrainingSystems3 жыл бұрын
It is. It’s just not coming up in your list because you probably put weak off the chest or midrange as your weakness, not lockout.
