I think learning export settings is a beast of a topic itself aside from everything else Premier wise. Some of my videos are 1 hour long. Saving your setting as presets will save you a headache in the future between finished file size and export time. I've had 45min videos export at 2.8gb and 2 1/2 hours to export and a 1 hour videos come out 14gb and 7 hours to export. It's extremely frustrating to see that 15min difference with maybe 20 seconds total of fx added can increase the file size that much.

Are you trying to work on multiple projects? If so you could send it over to media encoder that way you can still work inside of Premiere. If you're only working on that one video though you can just export it inside of Premiere. I hope this helps!

This was also a question I had. because I wasn't sure if sending it to ME would carry all the settings that were made. ( as it clearly states when hovering over Export that it will render in the current settings - making it sound like it won't if you send it to ME) Obviously I'm a noob - so there is also a decent number of things to learn in content creation. Dont check the box, checking the box puts it back to your sequence settings, not what you just changed it to. Leave it unchecked with the desired value and it will do that

Fuji user here, best camera settings for good clear video are .mov so whenever I try to export that into mp4 h.264 the quality gets sodomized badly. So far exporting the video from premiere in apple prores seems to do the trick until I have to upload the footage online

Tyler, I am new to premiere pro and am struggling with the sequence and export settings. My issue is I film using gopros in 60fps, sony handycam in HD and sometimes my iPhone. I’ve tried to adjust me sequences to 23.976 and all that but when I do, my footage is not great quality on the screen. Not slow mo or anything, just seems to be kinda blurry. I was wondering if you could help me out with any pointers on what I may be doing wrong? Thanks.

I just have the problem that the videos look great on my computer. But when I upload them to KZbin and they are 1080 60 they look WAY worse! Any idea what that would cause?

It's because when your video is uploaded to KZbin it gets compressed. Try increasing your target bitrate slightly when exporting your videos. This may take the video a little longer to export but it should help with compression. When uploading your videos to KZbin it's never going to look as good as it does before you upload it but it should still be very good quality. I hope this helps!

I don't really understand the difference between CBR and VBR1. In your case: CBR gives better quality but a larger filesize? and VBR1 gives you less filesize but less video0quality?

In Encoding settings at Level What’s the best choice 4.2 or else? What’s this Level meaning?

For a 1080p video I would use 4.2. Level - constrains encoding parameters such as bit rate range and frame size. The way I've always remembered Level is the higher level settings typically supports larger video resolutions. I hope this helps!

First, go in to your general project settings and make sure that under 'Video Rendering and Playback' you have selected "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA)" and press okay. Then, go to Preferences > Media and make sure that you have the box checked for "Enable hardware accelerated encoding and decoding" then press okay. I hope this helps!

I shoot and edit in 1080p, and I'm wondering if I should upscale to 2k, 4k or neither when exporting. I've heard that once you pass the 2k resolution, KZbin gives you a better codec and bitrate for playback. My concern is, if you playback on KZbin in 1080p, as is the default for most devices+internet speeds, it will look much worse than if I just exported in 1080 in the first place. Does resolution affect the algorithm?

if you upscale do it when exporting dont do it while editing! it makes such a difference also sharpen your videos abit it will significantly help,change the resolution at the end dont ever upscale a 1080 on a 4k or 2k timeline do it at the end it upscales the footage without quality loss

Actually after exporting using these settings it does look closer to the actual colors. (maybe the update helped?) Still slightly desaturated but quite a bit better.

I would make sure you have default media scaling turned on to “set to frame size” in Premiere Pro “preferences” then go to your sequence settings before exporting and change your aspect ratio to 3840x2160. Then just scrub through your video to make sure the scaling is correct on your clips and export the video in 4K. Have you tried editing using proxies?

@@OfficialTylerWhite No - its full resolution. Sorry, my bad - video actuallu looks fine in program, but it looks awful in youtube. And yes, I changed the bitrate (many times) and my codec is "h.264." Do you know what the problem might be? The video contains cutscenes from videogame.

Every time I render a video it will pause the export process and will stop doing anything. Then I have to stop the process and do it again, which of course results in the same situation. Even with your export settings it doesn't work.

Hey, not sure if you're still responding to comments, but I have a video I'm making public in 3 days and I was wondering if you could help me with making it look high quality when uploaded to KZbin. It's in 1080p quality and approx~ 5 minutes, and I want it to look as good as possible for viewing pleasure. It's about a 20 minute process per render so help would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Forgot to mention, file size is not a worry, I'm just focused on quality. So, my question is, should I use CBR or VBR for the best quality, and what mbps? I did two render attempts, one with VBR 62.5 mbps and one with VBR 30 mbps. The first one got highly compressed, and the second one for some reason just didn't look as good as it did on the original video file, so maybe it also got compressed. I can provide more details if you need any, and thanks for the tips on the video! I'm trying stuff out until I figure out what works!

Are you on M1? I can't export with CBR and VBR2 using hardware encoding, it is greyed out. That seems to be the case for a lot of people according to Adobe forums. I haven't heard the solution yet...

Make a new sequence and copy the information from the first to the second. (dont just make a copy of the sequence make a whole new sequence, then copy and paste) Easiest Fix
