Love the content, look forward to the next one. I just recently purchased the 2023 model Kampa Hayling Air 6 (sadly not all the same bells and whistles as yours). One thing I would like to know is how you keep the tent cool during the day and cool at night during the summer months here in South Florida? We took ours through a test run last night (June 19) and was able to get it to the low 70's in the main tent and mid 70's in the sleeping section at night. During the day I clocked it at 131 at its peak temperature.
@tacltogether
@tacltogether Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate that! In the night times no problem getting it cold. Sometimes to cold but in the day time unfortunately in South Florida it’s to hot to enjoy inside unless your under pure shade. We tend to leave the a/c running all day so that it starts cooling down for when we’re ready for bed but generally we’re up and out early in the am and out till sundown. What helps a lot for us is on those especially hot days/nights is running the A/C and a fan to help circulate the air.

It was this channel about AC'ing a tent that brought Air Tents into my awareness. Over the summer for my first camping trip I had purchased a Core 11 person tent with the screen porch and loved it accept having to put in the poles so after camping this August I knew then I was going to upgrade to an instant tent. Instead of a typical Ozark, Coleman or Core instant tent, I ended up going with the Outdoor Revolution Camp Star 600 Air Tent purchased at Camping World UK. Got it on sale for $935, original price is $1689 with the side porch for $161 from it's original price of $337. I just received it on Sept. 6th and was able to pitch it by myself. All I need now is an electric air pump which Im going with the mid version of what you have. So thank you for a very informative video!. Im now trying to decide on which AC I want to go with 😁

That’s awesome! Makes me very happy to hear that my videos are helping others such as your self getting the the gear that’s right for you. The Air tents are my favorite tent systems, the price tags might not be for everyone so I’ve been creating some video content with alternatives but if you can afford it I always say go with the Air Tent. The one you choose looks great and especially at that price. I think that’s the right choice going with a level up from the air pump I got. This might be just in time for you, I’m about to release another video with a different style a/c system that I am going to be using for camping, maybe it’ll work for you but it’ll give you some options. Stay tuned!

Great walk-through! One thing I was wondering was if there was a solid divider between the sleeping compartments as well as the screen. It would be nice to have the privacy...
@tacltogether
@tacltogether Жыл бұрын
Thank you! The tent does not come with one, I’m sure if that’s a extra that you can purchase and add on but I agree if you would like that extra privacy as the current fabric that is currently used is see through. The advantage to that thin divider is that it allows that air the flow easier throughout the sleeping area

If you ever want a proper tent buy a Karsten, they're VERY expensive but they're made of canvas so the material is breathable, 100% waterproof beyond anything else, some are inflatable but you need a compressor so it's like pumping a car tyre up, so once it's up it's SOLID! They cooler in the heat because it's canvas and warmer at night for the same reason. They're better than caravans if you ask me.

This is a pretty cool tent. One issue I have with it is that opening for a cord, it is handy but it could allow bugs to get in unless you could somehow seal it up completely around the cord. It would be nice if the a company that makes quality tents could provide an opening that snuggly fits most cords so there is no opening around it. Love the lights on it!

We currently have a core 10x13x7 and we put a giant silver tarp over it and put a 12k BTU portable AC in it, however , like you said, in summer it just plain sucks. We are looking for other tents that are possibly insulated better, or I'm not sure if a popup camper is any better

Yeah unfortunately our summers here are brutal. I’ve been in all kinds of tents and campers including a pop up camper and it is a bit better but when the sun is blasting down on the pop up it because pretty much just as unbearable during the day time. The only real way around that in the summer times here is the traditional hard side rv. We tend to leave our tent camping for the cooler months here and the rv for the rest of the 364 days of the year lol.

OK, this tent is amazing for summer camping. 👍 Is this a four season camping tent? I.E. Insulated and equipped for a wood stove or othe heat source? Plus, are you able to have a camping cookstove inside the tent?
@tacltogether
@tacltogether 10 ай бұрын
This tent specifically isn’t really designed for cooking or fire heat source inside to my knowledge. It doesn’t have a dedicated exhaust for the wood stove on the inside of the tent. We have used a electric heater and it worked fantastic but that had no open flames. I’m not sure the manufacturers exact recommendations or specifications around those items. These tents are designed for the uk market so they are used in high winds and colder climates. The fabric is a ticker material then majority of your standard tents sold here in the US and the windows are made of a thick plastic like material which helps hold in heat or cold better but it’s not an insulated tent.

How do you feel about your tent now? I'm really interested. I'm trying to decide but I think I want a single inflation point air tent. What brands would you recommend presently? Have you had to replace any beams? How easy was it for you to get the beams in if you have had to replace any? How hard is it to replace them? How does it hold up to rain? I'm having a hard time finding how to get one to the US. Sorry I know its a lot of questions. Hope to hear from you soon.

How would you compare this to the Wild Country by Terra Nova Zonda 6EP Air ? I see that the Zonda is significantly heavier which I am fine with if it means that it is of better quality. I am new to family camping and looking for something to comfortably sleep 4-5.
@tacltogether
@tacltogether Жыл бұрын
I can’t speak much to the Zonda but it does look larger with a larger porch. I personally like the Dometic room setup with a split of 2 rooms versus the 3 rooms I saw in the zonda video. I can tell you that the Dometic is very heavy packed up so if the Zonda is much heavier I would seriously take that into consideration. I have had 6 sleep in the Dometic before and could’ve had more if needed comfortably.

The caps have two different openings. There is the big cap which removes completely and that is to deflate. There is a smaller opening on-top of the larger cap and that is to inflate. The air goes in but not out. I’m thinking that might be the issue unless it’s something else.

My biggest questions with these type of tents is how well does it do in storms?
@tacltogether
@tacltogether 10 ай бұрын
From my personal experience in the tent in some pretty hard storms it held up very well. The tunnel designs are also supposed to be a more wind resistant design in comparison to other shapes. We’ve never had any water leaking issues or anything of that nature. The biggest down fall would be the pack up size and weight, it’s not really the easiest package to move around but with a tent this size and quality it makes up for it.

3 questions please: 1) does the main door to the living room have a zipper on the bottom of the door or is it only velcro? 2) is the screen room floor have seams and is fully enclosed or is the floor only attached by Velcro or no attachment? 3) Do all of the windows have zippers on the top side of the windows or only those 2 little loop latches? My main concern about all 3 of these questions is about bugs entering. I’ve been in the jungle and ants eat through the mesh, and big spiders crawl through tiny gaps. Thanks for answering.

Moderns backpackers may try to cook outside in cold wind or risk their lives cooking inside without a chimney using their so called 4 season equipment. Usually they are at home waiting for good weather. All over the world there are people who follow their animals living in portable shelters, not one of them cooks outside in the wind. It is impossible for anyone to survive a winter cooking every day out side with so called 4 season equipment. Using a chimney makes camping in any weather a comfortable pleasure. A tarp pitch can be the best 4 season shelter. It has to go tight to the ground on all sides and have a wood stove inside if it is going to be any good in a winter blizzard. Stove and chimney 24 ounces, shelter near 2.5 lbs. The whole outfit cannot weigh more than 5 lbs. if backpackers are going to use it. A 10’x10’ tarp only needs to be pegged on the 4 corners with as many pegs as it takes to be secure in any wind. No grommets are needed. It has cramped space for 3 cooking, lots of space 4 sleeping. The chimney can serve as one of the 40” long corner poles. Sticks that have a small nail driven in both ends (head pinched off). One end stays put on the ground, the other end through a reinforced point exactly in the corner 40” from the edges of the tarp. All sides can be raised forming an umbrella to cool off because of heat from the tiny cookstove or summer sun. This is what 4 season equipment is all about.

Thank you for the detailed information on the setup you find best. This is definitely not a backpacker tent because it is a extremely large package and very heavy and requires several others pieces of equipment. This is more of a tent to take to a campground or area where you can get to it with your rig or vehicle and unload. As far as the chimney for cold whether I agree, I have not personally experienced one myself but can tell you that on cold camps I’ve been freezing out there so having the ability to use that inside your tent would be great for winter camps. Thanks for watching!

If I you camp up to camp at night why in bad weather , you would be screwed 😂. But hey if that makes you happy. That’s a horrible tent loud and annoying in a camp site if you are by yourself, that fine but damn no way 😢

A tree branch falls on your tent in a rain storm and breaks or severely damages the tent poles. You’re done. Go home. It’s a tent, not a brick house. Geez. Besides, even a novice camper knows to make sure there are no widow makers overhead.

How ecstatic would you be when the campsite next to yours spent an hour "bowing" up their tent followed by an AC running all night long. Ohh yes. Have to love thos quiet nights camping with nothing but the sounds of crickets and your neighbors ac.
