What was the reason you go with 6” with adapters to 4” instead of just the 4” fan?
@85thandPine2 жыл бұрын
@@robertrussell2717 at the time, I thought it would be easier since the back of the Glowforge has 4” outlet but now if I were to do it again, I may try the 6” hoses and get an adapter for the back of the Glowforge! Either way would work though :)

@@85thandPine hahaha oh I understand. I have built and rebuilt and remodeled my mix media shop countless times now to accommodate my GlowForge. I purchased the air filter and attempted that route away from the window, but the sound that thing put off while running sets off my tinnitus horribly. Just a handy tip if you don't have an adapter that fits your hose perfectly. I see a lot of 3D printed ones that address this problem and I see a lot of videos of people using ugly aluminum tape by the pound. Don't tape it AFTER you connect, tape the male adapter end BEFORE with blue painters tape. The simple answer to most of these misfitting hose to coupler is just build up about 1/4" of blue painters tape on the male end of any duct adapter, now slide the hose over the tape and, poof, perfect fit. In many case, don't worry about the clamps, just put enough blue tape on the adapter to it fits super snug, but if you want to clamp, you have this nice semi solid seal of the blue tape. All this talk about gaping of the hose when you clamp is taken care of.

Thanks for the tip! Will definitely keep that in mind if I have issues.

HI Catharine, I was wondering if you tried the Ducting Reducer Increaser Cone made by infinity. I am in the middle of creating a venting system for my k40. The one by LEAK FREE is a lot more expensive and I am aware from your video that you have tried many connectors. Did you try the one from Infinity? It is a lot less expensive and that would be nice to save some money but not if it doesn't work well. Thank you...:)

Hi! I actually have not tried that reducer. It wouldn't hurt to try it, especially if you can return it if it doesn't work well. I know that's a big part of keeping the air quality good, so I understand wanting one that's reliable!

@85thandPine2 жыл бұрын
Hi Judy! Glad this was helpful. In regards to how much dust it produces while venting outdoors... I haven’t had any issues with buildup on the outside of my house. It seems to dissipate in the air pretty efficiently. I have yet to notice any areas right outside my vent that would need cleaned. The odor is mild in my opinion as well but it is slightly noticeable outside while the machine is running. My connected neighbor doesn’t have any issues with it.

By reducing to a 4” hose from the 6” fan isn’t it defeating the purpose of having the 6” fan because now there is restriction?

The fan is still providing a good amount of power even with reducing the hose to 4”. That’s just how I personally chose to do it. It’s up to you if you prefer to use the 6”. :)

Did it reduce order? I just got the AC Infinity CLOUDLINE S6 on Amazon and my office smells worse than when my GlowForge filter was full! 🤦🏻♀️ I don’t know if my in-line fan is just not working properly or if this is what I am Supposed to expect, a smelly office!! 😫
@85thandPine2 жыл бұрын
Oh no! 🤨 It did help reduce odor but I actually ended up using some aluminum tape around the edges of where my reducers meet the hoses since I ended up having leakage. That helped. It would be helpful to check for leaks like that and do it when it’s darker in the room and use a flashlight since it shows up better.

Did you buy an additional 2 clamps for the window/hose part that attached to the glowforge? I used the ones that came with my glowforge for that and not sure if that’s why I’m still smelling acrylic when I cut. Thanks in advance for your help!
@85thandPine3 жыл бұрын
I didn’t buy any separate ones, I also use the ones that came with my Glowforge. I notice an odor of acrylic as well as anything else that I cut, so the in-line fan doesn’t make it go away completely, it just lessens it (in my experience!). :)

@@85thandPine Can you recommend a brand? Did you get an enclosed filter box? The fume extractor recommended by the company I bought my laser for is just sooo expensive.
@85thandPine2 жыл бұрын
@@perfectlyoriginaldesigns we only use the compact air filter that we originally bought with our Glowforge a couple years ago from the company and place an extra carbon filter sheet inside of it from Amazon. But as far as other fume extractors go, I know they can be super expensive for other machines and have heard of people using cheaper ones on Amazon. But we’re only familiar with the Glowforge brand air filter.

Hello! So you use the AC infinity and also the glowforge brand filter?

@@jamiexxo Hi! We mainly use the AC Inline fan and vent out the window since it is much more cost efficient and works well. But we will occasionally use our Glowforge air filter if it’s below freezing outside and if we are continuously running the machine so we don’t let cold air through.
