What are the best (completed!) fantasy series you’ve read?

@@BookswithEmilyFox İ would go with “Harry Potter”, even if that’s a really basic answer🤣♥️

This year I binged the Rook and Rose trilogy by M A Carrick and it was such a breath of fresh air after all the usual sexist/racist/homophobic fantasy worlds. I really liked the Age of Madness trilogy from Abercrombie. Maybe Vita Nostra (but more like a standalone, the second book. was meh). The green bone saga was also great.

The Legend of Eli Monpress by Rachel Aaron needs more love. It's technically 5 books, but the first 3 are only avaliable as a bindup these days. Thief, swordsman, and demon girl form a found family despite their own best intentions while running from the magic police and higher powers.

Great video Emily🔥 for me, it’s a tie between the greenbone saga and the first law trilogy.

I read The Queen of the Tearling all the way back in 2015 and never continued, but now I definitely will! One of my favourite completed series that wasn't in this video is the Queens of Renthia series by Sarah Beth Durst, starting with Queen of Blood. SO GOOD. Also the Licanius trilogy, which I know you're reading right now.

I should reread it. I really liked the first book, thought the 2nd book started getting weird and then the ending of the 3rd just made me so upset.

Hi Emily ! I'm currently in the middle of the Poppy War series - I've just read The Dragon Republic, will start The Burning God today - and I absolutely love it ! Very dark obviously but the storytelling is so strong and I find the morally grey main characters so interesting and realistic ! Thanks for your recommandation 🤗

One of my favorite series is A Chorus of Dragons by Jenn Lyons. The audio-books are my recommended way of reading them; there are three distinct narrators in each audio-book and it really helps you separate things in the story.

I just finished the Liveship Traders trilogy by Robin Hobb, and loved it. It's from the late 90s, so an older series, part of her whole Realm of the Elderlings series. I may pick up some of the other trilogies in the set, she's quite a good writer. I don't know why I've never tried her before...

Have you read Farseer trilogy? I loved that one, but I'm currently reading book 2 of Liveship and I'm STRUGGLING. I want to go back to Fitz, but my brain says I have to read the books in the release order....
@Tokayd136 ай бұрын
@@yyuna7 I haven't read Farseer. Liveships was my first Hobb series. I loved it, I love Paragon (poor thing). I've heard people love Fitz a lot as a character though, so that would certainly be my next series if I decide to continue.

Oooh I’m working my way through Last Argument of Kings right now and you’re one of several people I’ve seen say they were dissatisfied with the ending so now I’m nervous lol. I really enjoyed books 1 and 2 - gave them 3 and 4 stars respectively - so I’m super curious to see how book 3 wraps it all up! Also adding Fifth Season to my TBR because that sounds right up my alley. Great video as always! ❤

I higly recommend The Drowning Empire trilogy by Andrea Stewart. I finished the third book 2 days ago and I was so sad to be separated from the characters. It's a multiple POV book with an original magic system. There are animal companions as well, and that was my favorite part tbh

I know it's like saying to someone "you need a death wish" but The Wandering Inn web series (also 13 books available for $5ish each on Amazon Kindle) is cozy fantasy that morphs into epic and then goes back and forth. Admittedly the longest series and still ongoing, very much stream of consciousness and Pirate Aba learned her craft along the way, so the early books are not well written. She has a huge cast of characters and some disappear for 3 books then come back because she became interested in them again, or they serve her purpose again going forward. It's an investment but there's no rush, don't have to binge it (like I'm doing, I'm finishing book 12 in the next day or so). But it's really fun if you can be lenient in the early stages.
@myfirstnovel6 ай бұрын
Right now, I’m binge reading The Wandering Inn, the progression web series but as ebooks. Planned to make it a “trou normand” in between other books and couldn’t put it down. I’m on book 10 of 12, but Pirateaba is still writing a new chapter every 2 weeks so the end may be far off. I get a sense you would like it since the 2 main characters are twentyish girls with distinct personalities and not a mansplaining jerk in sight (kinda).

I rarely finish series. I own a lot of first books but not much after. My library recently got Penn Cole's Spark of the Everflame series. It consumed me, and I actually continued past the first book, which is rare for me! The last book comes out this year (2024), and they are a bit thick, so you can definitely binge later this year.

I have to go through what fantasy books/series I’ve read and rate and recommend. But I like to say my favorite 2024 fantasy reads would be the entire Once Upon a Broken Heart series. I kind of didn’t want to read it but I found it at my library and figured since I’m not paying for it, I’d give it a shot and I’m glad I did. I haven’t read the caraval series yet, and I know some people say read it first because of Jacks, but I didn’t and I kind of lost interest in trying to find it and read it
