Thanks. I am going to finish playing Piano Adventure book 2 in a week. I do not like jazz because it has some patterns short long short long. I like classical music because when my neighbours and family played those old black disks that had classical music, I am familiar with those rhythm. My yeacher yoldvmevto use Piano Sdventure 3B starting grom next month. I am a SENIOR student.

In terms of quirky Bartok pieces, I really like the Daniel Gottlieb Türk beginner's book. Very interesting pieces with very quirky piano technical problems.

How many pieces per grade on average would you suggest to learn in order to say that the student is that grade player?
@pianotips26233 жыл бұрын
That's very hard to answer because it's not the quantity that matters but whether the student can play the piece good enough for that grade. A grade 4 piece can be played by a grade 2 student too but there will be a big difference in the sound, that's what makes his grade 2 and not grade 4. So quality before quantity.

I was very interested to hear about the differences between American and British preferences. I would be very interested in what you think about the UK versions of Faber vs the American? They have fewer books, but I doubt they drop the pre-reading music at the beginning. Is there any difference between them aside from being more condensed? I have loved using Faber, but the 4 books are too much for some students. I don't want to leave anything out though... Thoughts?

I wanted to check out your recommendations, some of your suggestions don't have samples of the music. It's difficult to buy music online if I don't have an idea of how easy/difficult the music is.

Just asking, since the books has different kind of publisher, will the contents be the same(composition of the pieces) or will it differ from publisher to publisher

This is what I was wondering as well. I hope someone answers because I see some sheet music that is printed weirdly and has like no fingerings (which I desperately need lol)

Hi. I know that you do many book reviews for beginner books and I am looking for a beginner Theory book. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you.
@pianotips26233 жыл бұрын
There are quite a few good ones. It depends. If you are learning for exams, it's best to get one of the board published books but if it's just general theory, there are lots to choose from. I will do a video on it shortly

Good books but no audio CD, so without a teacher it would be difficult to use. I use the Keith Snell books, they are simple from prep to level 8. Also i use the alfred books for adults. I have both versions of the two books, which give different pieces of music. The alfreds are good for chords and the Snells for the fingering. What i like about them is they have audio cds on them, the problem with the alfreds though is they just play the back ground music and not the piano line, that can be confusing. Still it gives timing, speed and how the tune is supposed to be played. For example in book one, i was playing "when the saints going marching in" and i thought i was way off, then i put the audio on and found it okish. What i did was find somone online who played it and it was spot on. It gave me encouragement. The problem with the Snell books, even though they are in many styles, the further up go up the levels it is harder to find the audio for the books. The books without the cd are easy to find though. I just found the audio their website. The are free as well. kjos.com/essential-piano-repertoire.html
