Question. Do you think it would be a good idea to add steeking rows to the Field Sweater to make a cardigan? I love knitting in the round. I would love this in a cardigan.
@MakerMarkKnits24 күн бұрын
Yes I do! They have a cardigan pattern - but it's knit flat. I found the wrong side rows to be an added layer of confusion - so I added a steek channel to mine! It was a successful adaptation. That cardigan is almost complete and I'm happy with how it's turned out so far!

Hi 👋 I'm knitting the slipover, and this was so handy to work the grains. I've completed the repeats for the grains and the next row has sl1pw, 2r, k2 .... what is the 2r please?
@MakerMarkKnits5 ай бұрын
What row is that instruction in? I double checked my copy of the pattern and didn't see that abbreviation at first glance!
@kellynelson31865 ай бұрын
@MakerMarkKnits in the slipover, it's row 28 and then similarly 1r in row 30.
@Desertlife-nt5oq11 ай бұрын
What can you do if you make a mistake and drop a part of a grain either on the current or a past row?
@MakerMarkKnits11 ай бұрын
Great question! There's no glamorous solution -- if you find that you've made the mistake a row back, just try to work the remaining loops in the most discreet way possible. If there is extra fiber from a dropped yarn over, you can give it a twist or two to tighten up the stitch. If you realize you've dropped a loop or two in the moment, you can isolate the stitch by undoing the grain completely, before redoing the stitch. Use an extra set of needles or a small crochet hook to pull up the three (or five) loops of the grain before returning to the row at hand. Let me know if you need further explanation and I can make a video. In my own sweater, I had moments where I realized that I had dropped a loop of a grain, or had made a small grain where a large grain was instructed -- and these spots are NOT noticeable in the finished garment. I hope this helps!

Thank you for this! I swatched the entire grain pattern for the Field cardigan. It has a purl side which makes it even more challenging.
@MakerMarkKnits8 ай бұрын
Yes! I've made the cardigan now...and I was so sad to see the purl side instructions. Whenever I can, I adapt patterns to be worked in the round. So I ended up adding a panel of steek stitches and I worked the entire sweater with knit, or right side, rows. I'll eventually post a video of my steeking and button band process with that sweater!
@sailajasv13332 ай бұрын
In which round we should add colour B
@MakerMarkKnits2 ай бұрын
There are instructions for using color b at the end of the pattern. Your carry along, or color B, should be used any time you are making a grain stitch. If you have a portion of knit stitches between the grains, that's where you'll only use color A (by itself)
