The problem I have with these types of scenes is not that a woman can fight, but the fact anyone kicked that many times in the face / head would not be conscious, never mind fighting back and running away.
@christopherlyons5900Ай бұрын
But as you know, that's 99.999% of big budget movie fight scenes, and most of the lower-budget ones too. And has been a long time. Honestly, it's not that easy to knock somebody out with fists or feet. Do serious damage, sure. Maybe the real issue is, how come her fists and feet aren't broken? She's not wearing gloves or special shoes. Trope's gonna trope. My nitpick would be, that's nowhere near the best fight scene ever by a girl. I mean, just off the top of my head, this person never saw Kill Bill? Either Vol? Not to mention a whole lot of wuxia films. Doesn't specify what kind of fight, so how about At Sword's Point, with Maurren O'Hara as the daughter of Athos. "I do not fight ladies!" "I am no lady when I fight!" I doubt it's in the top hundred. But it would take some time to evaluate them all. I think maybe the poster just means there's no stunt double? I don't think there is, anyway.
@marcd1981Ай бұрын
@@christopherlyons5900 I really enjoyed the Kill Bill series, especially with the women's fight scenes. My favorite woman's fight since then is in Atomic Blonde. That is a continuous, 10-minute fight scene, no cuts, and it looks real.

@@marcd1981I'm not so sure, the heorine takes a full , penetrating thrusting front kick directly to the sternum from a 6 foot 6 18+ stone guy, she'd have mushed ribcage from that. Films just never really portray this realistically. It's very dangerous to mis represent the physicality this way.

Exactly. Any women who is smart knows that the nest chance she has in fighting a man is getting the drop on them. If a woman got a man on the ground and then stood there waiting for him to get up, that would be suicide. Also any women who is smart knows that in addition to getting the drop on a man, their best chance of winning involves using weapons. The women in this scene had plenty of weapons available to her that she didn't use at all, and instead leveraged the fight entirely om her ability to hit him with her fists in all the right spots.

She's not shrugging off a punch from a guy that is 100lbs, if not 150lbs, bigger than her, and all muscle bigger to boot. That is the problem with these female (and sometimes male) fantasies. The force of one of his punches is multiples higher than her punches. Her bones are also weaker than his. Her punches on the other hand, to any solid location (chest, arms, legs, etc.) he could easily shrug off. That punch to her face, in real life, most likely broke her face. In a match up like this her only chance is to hit him in weak spots (joints, crotch), and pray that he doesn't land a single solid hit on her. [NOTE: if she was 6ft tall, muscled like Sarah Conner inT2, and he looked like your typical Google geek, that would be a different story. By trained fighter with a foot or more of height and 100+lbs of additional muscle, she goes down the second he lands a punch.]

Every time I see these "real world" critiques I'm disappointed by the hypocrisy. It only comes up when there is a woman on the screen. Bob Odenkirk clears a room in Nobody, taking massive hits, and all you see are comments about how gritty is was. None of this is realistic, but the psuedo-professional lessons come out so very regularly when a woman is on screen.

The martial arts film genre has so many good fight scenes, that one needs multiple Top 10 and Top 100 lists here to show even a fraction of them! The "Big Tits Fighting" blurb was sexist, inaccurate, and impractical since the woman had an average build, wore a shirt, tie, and black slacks, and was in a martial arts fight scene, not a sex scene. The blog unfairly never mentioned the man's muscles, booty, or "package," either. I never noticed either of their private parts in this scene.
