I’m fairly certain the message Himmel said in episode 27 will play a huge part in the story down the line. Magic had been seen as a scary thing especially since demons used it. However, the next stage is to make magic beautiful and fun

It's gonna take a lot of time to surpass what Madhouse did with the adaptation of Frieren, so much care and detail went into this anime that makes it better than almost every other one that aired in the last decade imo. This is truly a masterpiece.

people often don't understand why Serie keep saying Flammel is failure, imagine you have a student who have a great talent like Lionel Messi who can be one of the greatest of all time, but her goal is open a football school teaching small children playing football.

I think Serie's problem is exactly the same as what she accuses others to have: Magic is a world of visual imagination. Serie cannot imagine someone more powerful than herself, so she is always failing to train her students to be more powerful than herself. But Flamme was not limited in such a way so she had no issue training someone in a way that would allow them to surpass her. And Frieren is the same as Flamme in that regard.

The fact about Fern's choosing that kind of spell it is a proof that she wants to keep journey along with Frieren, she choose a practical spell for his journey, to save money and keep the clothes in good state... she knows that Frieren gonna give her all the knowledge about new spells, she just want to keep having fun and adquiring experience with her... The choosing was a comic relief but like this series teach us, we must see beyond that.

Serie may have passed several exceptional mages but one thing to make note of is that Fern was the only mage that she wanted to take on as an apprentice. She saw in Fern the potential to be a mage that would actually surpass her. It's the reason why she keeps taking on human students in spite of their relatively short lifespans and her own better judgement. Lernen is one such mage that learned directly from Serie and is extremely powerful, potentially even to the point of being able to defeat Frieren in battle. He also made the incredible escape golems used in the second exam, further showcasing his abilities. He's the only mage aside from Serie, Fern and the Demon King himself to notice the fluctuations in Frieren's mana. In spite of his incredible talent, skill and abilities, he still never noticed Serie's fluctuations in approximately 50 years being by her side when Fern saw it instantly on their very first meeting. That's just how amazing Fern is. In short, Fern is absolutely GOATED. She will undoubtedly be the most powerful mage of her generation. Gotta love Fern.

Zeria recruits first-class magicians based on intuition, and intuition helps when there is a goal. The difference in worldview. Zerie is a bit like a demon, for her magic is something designed exclusively for combat and strength, so any magic that does not improve combat potential has no value for her. For Frieren, magic is something curious and beautiful, helping to find a connection with people. And not only the magic itself, but also the process that leads to its creation. Flamme once told Zerie that it was Frieren who would defeat the Demon Lord precisely because she was not a combat mage, but a mage who wanted to live in peace. Zerie is a collector of spells, and can give them away as a reward. If it weren't for Flamme's love for the "ridiculous" spell to create a flower field, much would not have happened, we can say that it led to the Fern,🧝‍♀️ the era of people. Zerne is true to her words "for great power - great justice" - she became a Freerunner's justice, it's funny how she recognizes her power, but on a whim refuses to assign her a title🙆🏼‍♂️🙆🏼‍♂️🙆🏼‍♂️

Not on a whim but Frieren lacks burning ambition. She has no goal in life that drives her forward which is essential to growth as a Mage. But that is also exactly why Frieren is a mage of a peaceful era. Because if you have a "burning ambition" you'll be egoistical. Frieren lacks exactly that and that's why she's able to casually do a hobby and help people. Everything in this show is multilayered

1:01 this sums up the entirety of season 1 😂 2:20 this was such a heartfelt moment between these two. 3:45 Denken and Richter definitely built a connection, you can see it from the way they interact, how Denken puts up with Richter's mood. 6:25 you figured out Fern very well, Magy. 13:11 love how Frieren managed to piss off Serie once again 15:00 what a beautiful moment between Frieren and Himmel - it happened such a long time ago, when he was still a child but it left such an impact on him. No wonder that spell is Frieren's favourite. 23:33 Denken passing was such a cool moment but Ubel took the cake, Serie didn't even think for a second not to pass her. 25:55 Wirbel gave her such a gutsy answer, it was only natural to pass him. 28:30 Frieren played such an important role in Denken's life. 33:00 Serie was so petty with that move 😂 36:44 Frieren called Serie out so well here, she's even more of a child than Frieren. The spell Fern asked for is the best proof she is Frieren's student. Something simple they can use in their day to day life more than anything else. Don't worry too much, there will most likely be a second season, they just need to announce it. The series is a huge success. Thank you for this beautiful reaction and for giving this anime a chance ❤

It's rather sad, that Serie lives so long she needs to constantly lie to herself about the people she cares about in order to avoid heartache. Her actions never match her words when it comes to people she cares about.

Himmel is "heaven" or "sky" in German and Hieter is "bright". In a way, they're watching the whole story play out.

Season 1 went through chapter 60 of the manga. Chapter 119 would be a good stopping point for a second season. There are currently 128 or so chapters, and at the rate they get released a third seaons in 3 or so years seems quite reasonable even.

Now that you know the backgrounds of the characters, magic, and demons, I recommend that you watch ep1 to ep4 again. You can understand the deeper meaning of their lines and facial expressions, which you missed when you first watched the movie because you were so absorbed in following the story and understanding the world. So I was, and So I did. This is one of the excellence about this anime.

I wasn't even that emotional over the last episode, but when the beautiful ending song kicked in, I was starting to cry like a baby, too. It was a mixture of sadness, because it was over, but also of happiness, because I was able watch it 🥲 Thank you for taking us on the journey with you. You may also consider giving "Bocchi the Rock" a chance. It's from the same director as Frieren and was my favorite show from the year before. Completely different topic, but also made with so much heart and love ❤

Vocês apareceram no meu youtube quando eu buscava músicas remixadas dos episódios de Frieren, já estava nos episódios dos testes dos magos e cada cena vinha com uma trilha sonora que eu gostava de relembrar. E lá estavam vocês, reagindo aos primeiros episódios. Eu não costumo assistir reações aos animes que eu acompanho, mas o fato de vocês assistirem o anime em dupla me fez lembrar como esse anime é gostoso de se assistir acompanhado, aliás, acredito que deveria existir um aviso do tipo "Assista esse anime em bando para uma melhor experiência" porque cada pessoa pega um aspecto, um detalhe, e quando começa o choro tem um monte de ombro pra ajudar! Foi uma experiência maravilhosa, mostrou mais uma vez que uma obra escrita por uma mulher sempre encontra em outras mulheres as melhores respostas, lembro da Magy no momento em que o Himmel praticamente pede a Frieren em casamento, e dos muitos momentos em que a Laura se emociona, eu tive a sorte de assistir com a minha filha e chorar com ela, e chorar novamente com vocês. Creio que seja pra isso que nós assistimos o anime da Frieren, para encontrar essas brechas em nossas vidas onde apreciamos o que acontece no presente, no momento atual, e como aprender a levar cada lembrança como algo inesquecível em nossas vidas. Agora vocês fazem parte do pacote de coisas da Frieren que vou carregar na memória, e nos vemos novamente quando a segunda temporada chegar, e agora que choramos muito vamos poder dar risada quando estivermos constrangidos nos olhando como velhos amigos de viagem! Not to spite Serie's judgement, but if I was offered a SR spell or an SSR spell, I'd obviously pick the rarer SSR one, even if that rarer SSR one is a completely useless spell. As a collector, this is common sense, and seeing how Frieren is a collector of folk spells and Fern being Frieren's disciple, it is obvious to her which spell she would pick. The rarest spell possible, one that cannot be found today is what I would have chosen. Even if it is a useless spell like brushing my teeth, I'd still pick it.

On the whole story, i was every episode near on the tear. There is a reason why Frieren is on the Top. About Serie, pls dont misunderstand it, the only disappointment was the lifespan of humans. I love the reaction from Magy after understanding that the Mana from serie is always suppressed and graphicly shows Frierens unsuppressed Mana. "death isn't the only goodbye" hits hard and i believe that wirbel has something to do with Himmel in a far way cause of the haircolour. But Land pass through zoom. xD

If you're ever interested in more of this type of story where the pass of time is a big part of the anime, i really recommend you guys To Your Eternity, I'm sure you'll love it, it's one of the few i think deserves a 10/10, like Frieren.

To me Cyberpunk Edgerunners is the top standard of dark animes and Frieren is the top of light/wholesome animes in recent times.

When Serei says she can take her to heights that no mage has reach before (slightly different in the manga translation) is she including herself? In English it would with that wording and was curious. Sorry just randomly spring a question on you.

The typical syntax of Japanese boy's manga reads like ``a teacher pushes her students to heights that even the teacher could not reach.'' However, I don't know what that means in the world of Frieren's world. Serie is also a mysterious figure at this point in this anime.

People love Stark whenever he goes. He helps people in small ways just like Himmel. I've got a hunch that he's the real Hero and will pull that sword out of the rock someday. The show even slightly alluded to that when they were at the village of the Sword and Stark couldn't take his eyes off of it.

I don’t wish to give spoilers but all the hints are there that Serie is far more ancient. Also, Fern was the only one capable to notice Serie was hiding her mana while the skilled old dude who noticed Frieren true mana don’t. This means Serie mana is twice Frieren.

That was a bad translation. The correct translation was "most died before remotely approaching my heights". Which of course makes more sense because it would be generally quite unlikely that human students can reach her heights. Flamme was a sole exception that she even got close to her level but also not quite. That's also why she's disappointed in Frieren because as an elf Frieren has much more promise then anyone else but Frieren just wouldn't focus on being strong. Serie is like a professor that's disappointed with a very smart student that just refuses to study and focuses on partying (and gets by cheating in tests to win). Actually the only complaint I have is that the English translation for this anime is a bit crude, and therefore a lot of nuances are lost to English watchers.
