The SF40 is a terrific flash. I use it on my digital CL, Q3 43, and SL2. As you noted, it is more petite than the SF60 (which is more powerful, and more flexible, as it can be triggered by Leica’s SF C1 remote).

Thank you for posting. It would have been nice if Leica would have either added internal memory, or made room for a second SD card. Unfortunately, I suspect Leica would jack up the price another $500 or more. You could get smaller memory SD cards so you would have to switch cards every 36 exposures or so. :) Doing so would "only" require you to switch cards more often and relive the good old film days (at least to some extent). Just saying. :) At the moment, I am enjoying my Q3 28 with my SF40. Living on the edge, but then I am not a pro although I would love to justify buying the M11.

So I just picked up the lightpix q20ii which I’ve been using on the Q3 but really having some trouble getting accurate skin tones was wondering if you think I’d be better off getting the SF40 and return returning this one will I get much better quality image? Based on your video I’m probably gonna return it and just get sf 40 it’s three times the price, but worth it? Maybe if you could explain what the benefits would be?

Well, the SF 40 is made for the like a system and I swear by it. I do have one of those flash Qs the M20 all metal (if this is what you are talking about) and never use it. Just wasn’t reliable. Pick up a SF40 on the used market or see if you can borrow or rent one. It’s a much superior flash

@ sounds good actually I think you reviewed it a while back you said it was lacking but it was good it has a transmitter but you’re right the SF 40 will be better .

I got my SF40 for under $350 on eBay and I've love it for my Q3. Just wish it was more low profile and could shoot off-camera. Flashpoint has the R2 Nano Remote for Leica Cameras but it $119 without the flash and and I have seen any test them out yet for Leica.

For a manual flash remote it’s fine (nano) but not great in TTL. The SF60 is a great flash as well and offers off camera but it is a little bigger and heavier

Two cards is not a problem if you use the Leica app, which will back up to your phone as well as the onboard SD card...... Its great.
@RobMoreno3353 сағат бұрын
Can it do this in real time?
@kaskoPhoto2 сағат бұрын
In theory that’s great but in practice not so much. So a 6 hour event with this setup and you will be having issues within 40 minutes.

@@kaskoPhoto not from my experience - I think the Q3 has a larger battery to the Q2... After launching the app, it runs all day in the background, it also geotags the images... But mostly, it saves as a back up !

@@john3Leedoes it back up in real time? How do you set this up?
@kaskoPhotoСағат бұрын
@@john3Lee I’m more worried about the battery on the phone than on the camera. And in the studio, this works very well for me, but in the field, I do have issues with it.
