This review is spot on. Some of the reviews I have watched on this camera are completely asinine. Camera reviews from "Content Creators" drive me absolutely nuts. Nice to hear from a true photographer and the Nikon 50 1.8 S has to be my favorite lens of all time.

I just got this flash and it doesn’t work well with shutter speeds faster than 1/250. Somehow the camera shutter is faster than the flash. I tried all powers on the flash. Anything faster than 1/250 shutter and the image looked like the flash wasn’t even on. So this limits the uses for this flash. Do you get same experience?

It’s not made for high speed. It is a camera sync speed flash only

Never fret about being old school I’ve learned more from old old school photographers in film and digital than most of the gear review influencers! That said I think I need one of these….. thanks! My biggest problem with model photography is a lack of studio/location… I get by with natural light but something like this will help me experiment with flash more (with a ttl cable from my a99 or Minolta film camera to a hs 5600d)

Great video....I loved my stroboframe back in the olden days. Regret throwing it away 😪 Maybe I should buy it back. And you're right about Godox TTL, it SUCKS big time. My Lux Master and AD300's TTL mode is so unreliable compared to the Profoto A2 and B10.

That bracket is obviously still relevant today! I sometimes use a bracket that brings the flash closer to the lens. I tried using a Godox flash on the bracket with a remote, but the flash and remote are too close together for it to work. I instead use a nikon flash with a cable. Good video and a beautiful model! 🇨🇦

Film days events: I had one of these, but more often used a Sunpak 566? handlebar AND a Vivitar 285 on the hotshoe. Rarely used either in direct flash mode. With that much power available and both swiveling / elevating, I could usually bounce off walls and ceilings and get a good studio look. I also have one like this where the cold shoe extends about 1.5 feet so I can get more off camera while still carrying. You worried about weight? I usually had a full motor drive with 8 AAs AND a Tamron 60-300 on the rig. With another body and a 28-70 "spare". (Back then I could actually handle that....)

Dad had one bracket similar to this back in the film days. We used to see it a bit daft when we’re kids and saw him using it. I’m a fan now. Funny how we become our dads when we get older. In defense to Godox, ttl works great on Nikon. Never had any issues apart that it won’t go faster sync than 1/200 on the new Z system where I used to go up to 1/320s on the old D810.

@cosmo0080 Mine is almost 60 years old! I'm sure it's still in one of my boxes of good junk* somewhere. The camera I had didn't have a shoe, hot, cold, or lukewarm, but did have two PC sockets for electronic or fire in a bottle flashes. It actually held the flash out to the side and above the camera, which made for some interesting shadows. I found another one when we cleared out my late cousin's camera gear, plus a hot shoe standoff for his old Olympus film camera that lifts the flash another 10 cm or so above the camera to help avoid red-eye. * Good junk = stuff you keep as it might be useful some day; bad junk = stuff you should biff...
