Spoiler alert for Crazy Rich Asians... After Astrid gets cheated on and shows up to Araminta and Collin’s wedding with her grandma, she says “thank you for doing this, grandma” and the grandma says what Jessica said at 1:28. Constance also plays Rachel. Wonder if this was just a coincidence or if it was intentional. Great movie though!

After someone say "thank you", the Chinese sometimes reply "自己人,不用說多謝" or " 不用客氣" which implies no need to thank me as I'm treating you like a family. For some from the family or really close friends, they don't say that.
@istillloveyou77935 жыл бұрын
I'm Half Chinese and I also say Thank you but only sometimes. We just really don't say thank you including with the closest people cos really they should know.

...i thought southern hospitality was real! That's disappointing.
@feelingReckless134 жыл бұрын
if it helps, the southern region of this country was originally made up of royalists. The emphasis on hospitality and good manners in our culture is built on courtly ideals. It's not that it's completely fake, but it's an expected set of rules that are supposed to go beyond your feelings. You shouldn't be kind because you want to, but because it's the appropriate way to behave. You can call it fake, but it is built out of good intentions and the belief that the most appropriate way to treat people is with kindness.
@havabird27724 жыл бұрын
Kill them with kindness! It isn't fake, it's just built in. I have lived overseas for 10 years and miss Southern hospitality, but i brought it with me!
