So back in the 16-bit era,there was this thing where cartridge memory size became the big thing for a while. See,at the end of the 8-bit era,the standard cart size was around 4 megs. To most of you kids these days,that's about the same size as a selfie or 2. But as the 16-bit era rolled on,cart sizes ballooned to where 8-16 meg carts were the norm. For the main consoles,Genesis and SNES,I think the biggest was the 32 meg cart for Doom on the SNES. Here's how this relates to the animations you guys are gushing about. SNK's Neo-Geo,if you recall,was sold as a super expensive high end system. The system itself was 500 bucks and the carts sold in the 100-200 dollar range. To justify that cost,the carts had HUGE memory loads. The averga NG cart was around 200 megs. That's a lot of memory. And to justify that memory,they stuffed as much as they could into it. So all those animations? Yeah. Just there to fill memory and push the "superiority" of the Neo-Geo. Makes you wonder why more people don't go nuts with animations these days,huh?

to let you guys know, when the characters start having individual traits, Mari gets 2x grenades and can toss them in a straight line. Fio gets double ammo and does better with them. Tarma can heal slugs with kicks and can turret fix. Marco is better with his pistol. Ralf cant do diddly with sp weapons but can take two hits and wrecks vehicles and Clark is for high score runs since he can toss grunts and get invincible while doing it. Leona in XX gets 1.2 ammo and can slice bullets and her bombs are earrings

Picture that swamp stage in the first level, but with a bunch of Zombie Chaingunners from _Doom_ fighting off Xenomorphs, that sort of thing.
