it also looks better than the new evo's and sti's, so who really cares that they are faster. and i got muegen too, i paid 29000 for it which is not tha bad of a deal considering, a maxed out 4 door si (without navi) cost around 27000 and i would definitely rather have mugen than a regular si.

I would like to see a head to head with the Cobalt SS Turbo. Currently the SS has the fastest front drive time in the Nurburgering. And since they only boosted the HP by a few horsepower, you will still be well below the 260hp of the SS. The Civic might be a tad lighter though. Would be interesting to see.

I agree, the mugen is a little pricey, but really its just an si with better suspension. I got my regular SI for a little under 16, and with a couple thousand put under the hood, it could easily keep up with an EVO or and STI. Go look at the CUT KIT made by Swift Racing Technology. The SI's they mod are putting out 350-400 whp. And its still about 10,000 dollars cheeper than a off the lot STI

I like the look, the sound is amazing in all Honda's. If i could get enough cash together i would definately take one of these, because here in South Africa where i live, there is none. The colour is great though, all round i think it's a Honda enthusiasts choice. Good job Honda and Mugen

@mucura1 actually the minuscule torque from the NSX's 290hp engine makes it a very poor car stock, but with an engine swap with more cylinders it becomes a beast, heck ive beaten a bunch of factory stock nsx's in my bullitt

Cobalt SS is a good competitor to the Civic Si overall. For performance for the money the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is still one of the best buys in the world. Chevrolet LS series engine is one of the best. Plenty of Japanese cars have had them swapped in by tuners even. Aluminum block pushrod has it's advantages for making a huge engine lightweight and compact.

@NissanTy 08 mugens can bought in the lower 20s now with really low miles. Z cars depreciate very fast as well. The mugen is a more exclusive car so resale is going to be higher. But theres nothing like RWD :)

im not talking about a modded integra. im talking about stock. any car can be made to go fast with mods. minis handle exceptionally well from the factory. the lack of power they have they make up for in handling. integras from the factory handle like a honda pilot.
@BulletproofMonk15 жыл бұрын
The reason I asked is because you threw in 0-60 performance and Slalom. I would definitely toss out the 0-60 performance, but the Slalom I would be iffy about, because the turbo also helps to get the car up to the speed. I'd be wondering what the SS (non-super or turbocharged) would run in the Slalom.

i saw one of these the other day. The guy had it very clean. Like showroom clean, however i was riding in my show room clean ap2 s2000. Based on his inability to stop staring at my car to say i think he felt a little foolish that he paid 30,000 dollars for a mugen bodykit civic si with little to no performance upgrades vs base civic si, when he could have gotten a nice superior s2000 for so much less.
@gambrazzio698915 жыл бұрын

That's true and its a good point But personally I think the 370 looks way better which would be one reason why I would consider getting it However I KNOW the Honda is almost bulletproof (we had one with like 430k miles only got rid of it when a truck backed into it in a parking lot)
@SenorMoofer15 жыл бұрын
Correct this engine is not built by mugen, however the body kit was completely designed to be fully functional, the suspension was completely built for the car. It does not have rear drum brakes so iam not sure where you have gotten that misinformation and 30k seems high considering i picked mine up for 24.5k two months after released. Overall its not a bad deal for what you get. Would have been better with a RR motor in it though.

The only thing rare about it is the fact that.... it's a $30k Civic SI which has warranted suspension upgrades and... a shiny muffler. If Honda manages to sell one, then they have probably stimulated their pockets more than the owner can stimulate their senses. The best FWD car ever will always be the DC2R.
@viktord116 жыл бұрын
yupp, i stand corrected. :D But what's to stop people doing exactly that. If I were in the market for a civic such as this I'd probably end up getting an Si and spicing it up a bit, and so will most people as well :D

i got one and it will void the warranty on a lot of parts. drive train is another thing but there are so many other parts that are related to springs and shocks that it will void the warranty on a lot of parts on a car. and getting the warranty on aftermarket parts only covers those parts, not the ones related to it.

very true, for it price, there are some cars out there that can outperform it and still cost less. but there aren't much cars out there that can outperform the Mugen Civic Si for what it is as in a N/A I4, the only N/A I4 car i can think of that can give the same performance or better than the Mugen Civic Si is the Lotus Elise, the 08+ Sentra SER Spec V and the 9th Gen Corolla XRS are close somehow, but not better.

@mucura1 the NSX doesn't really weighs less than a ton, it's a bit over a ton actually, but it's still is a lot lighter.. mustang needs big engine to gain power but still has a very poor hp/L output.. it's like a race heavy weight boxer vs a track runner..

they made a t/c rsx type s? might want to check up on that. NSRT-4 was IMO best FWD car considering the price, (20k brand new) and underrated HP/TQ numbers. it would destroy an Si in a straight line, and probably on a course too. shame they stopped making them :(

I wouldn't say that this is the best fwd, since it's like a modified vehicle already, and I believe that every car when modified and tuned properly will always do great.. But for fwd NA vehicles, I like honda with its small high revving engine and good power output per displacement.. I think honda specializes on fwd compact cars..

Should I also get a 1990 BMW 750i for 8k too with the spare change? That is a new car and will not have any major problems for at least 10 years. While you are comparing it to a 22 year old car which isn't 30K. For a well maintained, completely stock and serviced NSX from dealership it costs well over 50K. And will most likely give out on you in around 2-3 more years.
@loveskating311 жыл бұрын
"A family car with a bit of sporting potential" is not correct here. If you look up the FD2 (civic type r), it laps Suzuka faster than an NSX. The NSX has more potential, but for the same amount of money, the civic can be made faster.
