Awesome man, glad you like it. I really tried to make this one easy to follow along with. When I first started stenciling video tutorials were not even a concept. It's great that there are so many nowadays, really helps people progress much more quickly.

Awesome tutorial bro, easy to follow and I have now got the stencil edited. Just wondering how you print and then cut the completed stencil? Would you just print it 3 times removing a layer each time orrr???

Thank you for watching! Just saw this comment, sorry for the delay. I just isolate the layers (hide all but one at a time) and 'save as pdf.' Then I bring it to fedex to get printed, simple as that!

How would you isolate all three colors and print them separately? Other ways on gimp are easier, but I really like how you did this. BTW Also a fellow r/stencils submitter. I enjoy your work.

Thanks for watching! I generally will print out one copy with all three colors and use this as my base (lightest) color. Then I will print out two more copies; one with the top layer hidden, and the other with the bottom layer hidden. This will give you all three colors. I generally also try to work out some of the bridges and eliminate parts that won't be seen before I print (like if the base and midtone color are both covered by black, there is no reason to cut/spray those other colors). Take care, and thanks for commenting.

Can u help with how u get ur stencils created in photoshop onto ur transparencies wether u got to a store to have them done or what type of printer very curious

Thanks for watching! I just print my layers on plain white paper and put the mylar on top of the paper while I cut, using it as a guide. I never print on the actual transparencies.

Check out my other video kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHqso5yEftKtj7c It's for photoshop, but you can easily follow the same procedure in GIMP. Thanks for watching!

Using the Lasso tool is much easier to remove the background.

hey, how can i remove the background? when i use the paintbrush, it just colours my picture :(
@AnthonyAspero10 жыл бұрын
Try using the eraser tool instead of the paintbrush. Or even better, use layer masks! They are a bit too complicated to explain fully here, but if you can find a guide online they will help greatly. Masks are basically a way of editing your image non-destructively; everything can be brought back easily. Nothing is erased/permanently changed.

informative for sure but completely useless if you plan on actually making functional stencils...this just produces a stenciled look to an image. still good info though

Thank you for watching! You are right about that, which is why I put the note towards the end about figuring out the islands and bridges on your own. I used to take the time to map out all my cuts in PS, now I just do it while I'm cutting. I think that is the 'art' in all this, at times. It really makes you consider what you are doing and how it will impact the final product. Thanks again!
