Thanks for doing this video. My settings are basically the same that you showed. I did follow the advice from your side view video and applied them the the down view. Can't wait to see the video on the traditional view. Keep em coming.

@MGMarineTech2 жыл бұрын
Not as of yet, at least for settings but as a rough guideline, Gain adjust for depth - deeper requires more gain Scroll speed auto Color gain +2 to +3 Tvg depends on depth as well. Deeper =higher tvg Interference low to med

On my Clear vu after going to 20mph, the depth starts flashing at the last depth continously. I'm using the GT54UHD at 240kHz. Why does this happen? What can I do about it?

Most likely the transducer coming out of the water and loosing bottom.

When you talk about depths of water what do you consider deep and shallow?
@MGMarineTech3 жыл бұрын
Talking about tvg?
@salvatoregagliardi483 жыл бұрын
@@MGMarineTech No just in general , Is deep water 60ft or 600ft and shallow water 60ft or 6ft. The harbor I fish is 26' deep at its deepest. Just try to put deep and shallow into perspective.
@MGMarineTech3 жыл бұрын
@@salvatoregagliardi48 i fish in water that is 5-50’ at the tops. As far as these settings, 5’ will need different settings compared to 25’ compared to 50’ But as far as what I consider as shallow it’s 5-10 and deep would be 50-60 for the gt54

Hey friend. What would a 8-10’ alligator look like on clear-vu and side imaging? Reason I ask is I was drawn for a tag here in GA. Your thoughts?

A gator that big would look just like a gator especially the shadow. Obviously it all depends how it travels through the beam.

For some reason my Gt54 started showing wrong depth. I'm cruising at around 7 kn and suddenly my garmin starts saying i'm at depth of 2 feet and alarm starts going off. I'm probably at a depth of 200 feet. any idea why this started happening? as i got to shallower water, under 125 feet, it worked good again except 1 time when i got into really shallow water about 15 feet, then it showed about 2 feet again for a few moments. One thing to note and I don't know if it has anything to do with it is that there was TON of pollen all over the lake, i mean LOTS everywhere.
@MGMarineTech2 жыл бұрын
most of the time when you are in water that deep and it starts flashing very shallow depths, it has lost the bottom. There is a setting in there that kind of aids the unit in telling it where the bottom might be. I believe its called "Bottom search limit" say the search limit is set to less than 200' and you are over 200' it will kind of error out and flash a much shallower depth because you are telling it that the bottom should be in less than 200'

I just saw this vid about scroll speeds. Could you do a test on this? kzbin.info/www/bejne/boKUiqOfrL6mnbc. I thought it was supposed to match boat speed? I troll at 1-2 mph and have mind set to 1. He says set it to 7?
@MGMarineTech2 жыл бұрын
The reason people will increase the scroll speed (a lot of guys run them at 10 on the 54) is to “stretch” the image. This will make fish appear bigger on the screen and in some cases be easier to see. I feel that it just distorts the picture a lot and makes everything harder to see Which is why i recommend using auto speed, as the unit will self adjust to the correct scroll speed for the speed of the boat
@LetsCrappieFish2 жыл бұрын
@@MGMarineTech Yeah, he says it gives a more accurate reading.?
@MGMarineTech2 жыл бұрын
@@LetsCrappieFish yeah I don’t necessarily buy that at all… I can see a use for increasing the scroll speed more than is required, but I don’t like how it looks (everything is stretched and highly distorted) But go out and play with it at a steady speed and see what you think
@LetsCrappieFish2 жыл бұрын
@@MGMarineTech I do fine with it on 1 haha. I was just wondering about it.
@MGMarineTech2 жыл бұрын
@@LetsCrappieFish that’s all that matters is that you are happy with the results. That’s what I’ve always seen as to why people say they run it high. Again I let the unit do the work and adjust speed as necessary. At 1-2 mph it’s probably in that 1-2 range and when you speed up scouting for a place to 3-5 it will bump it up for you and you don’t have to dig into the menus.
