Wow, 10 years and those cases still look great! I've traveled a lot with my current sax case so even though ive only had it for a year and a half it's already pretty dinged up!

Good to hear about the Reunion Blues cases being so durable in your opinion, and that you guitar has been safe through drops while being in it - that's the real test. I am looking at getting a McPherson Carbon Fiber Touring Guitar, and I can get the Reunion Blues case or a hardshell case, but I can't decide which one. The shop can order a guitar with either one for no additional cost, but the current model in store sounds and plays great! And, it came with a Reunion Blues case. So, I could ask them to order another guitar with a hardshell case to swap it out, or go with the Reunion Blues case that is already there. They attested to the quality of the case at the store and in traveling with a nice guitar inside with no issues, and you seem to be attesting to the same quality, also. I've just always been a hardshell case person, but I'm not sure what to do. I will admit, the Reunion blues is the toughest "non-hardshell" I have ever encountered. Thoughts?

I've gotten the Continental gig bah model for all 3 styles (solid body, semi-hollow, and dresdnought/hollowbody) with no regrets. I'm not familiar with RB hardshells, but hardshells are bulkier and tiresome to carry long-term. The Continental models is great to strap to your back and head out the door. Enjoy your new gear!

I have a 16 year old Roadrunner (Guitar Center) gig bag for my electric and I can't find anything out there like it. Cost me $19.99 at the time and has 1-3 inches (25-75mm) of padding all around it with 6 pockets.

I just purchased a cross rock bass case it’s fiberglass. I bought it for style,but truthfully I don’t go to far with my bass. I have a fender fb1225 soft case mostly my bass stays on the stand. Just can’t decide to return the cross rock, lol fancy!🤔

Hi Sunken Ship, When I moved from Puerto Rico to the States, I ended up bringing my classical guitar on a hard shell case with tshirts to soften any impact (had to be checked) while I brought my Epiphone Sheraton II on my Reunion Blues on board. If you decide to buy the Reunion Blues, make sure to empty the front pocket and hide the straps so that agents dont give you a hard time about how "bulky" it looks. If you decide to go with a hard shell you might end up checking the bag in which case I highly recommend you check out the SKB guitar cases which is TSA friendly. And most importantly, do not antagonize the desk agent if they say you gotta check the guitar. Instead ask about the possibility of dropping it off at the gate which is a lot safer than going through their whole system. They are usually ok with doing that and you can try your hand at taking it with on board. Safe travels

Hi Jose Can you help me out in picking between the Ritter RGP 8D and Ibanez FS40DA? One is a well (33mm) padded gig bag and the other is a Styrofoam case. Which one do you think will provide more safety to my 12 string dreadnaught? I am looking for a case which can also keep my instrument safe from climate changes, apart from the regular hits and drops. Also, I don't wish to opt for a hardcase as I travel frequently with my guitar, but I wish to have the safety that a hard case provides.

Just noticed I didnt reply about climate changes. Usually guitar cases that control climate changes are carbon fiber, which are pretty pricey. I personally do not own a guitar case with those kind of specs. What I do is carry a digital hygrometer in my case whenever I travel and a humidity pack (40%-50%) just in case the area is too dry (which is most buildings with A/C). At my place I keep a hygrometer next to the guitar rack and always keep an eye on it. Winters tend to be drier than summers depending on where you live AND where the heater is located in the room. To counter the dryness of the heater/radiator I have a big humidifier close to the guitars. Hope this helps dude. BTW in my honest opinion, you may be better with the Ibanez.

That was very informative. Much appreciated! I am still confused between the two though, and none of them is available in the local stores here to check. Here are the pros and cons for each of the cases that I figured out: Ritter RGP8d pros- Water resistant outer material. Lighter in weight (considering it's a gig bag) with good amount of padding. Slimmer in size. Cons- Less sturdy compared to the Ibanez case. IBANEZ FS40DA pros- More solid and sturdy hence more safety to the instrument. Cons- Outer material isn't waterproof or resistant so there's a chance of it getting stained (i guess). Bulkier in size. Also, it's slightly pricier than the Ritter. Apart from these, I couldn't find anything much. I'll be locking on one of these in a few days. I'll put an update once I do so. Thanks once again for getting back :) Update : I went ahead with the Ritter which I found at a local shop at a steal deal and I am happy with it. It's solid from inside, very well padded. Just the stitches of the grab handle started coming out pretty soon. Not happy with that, but it can be fixed easily. Rest, I am satisfied.

Just bought a Taylor and it came with a gig bag. I have bamboo charcoal in the bag as well. But I live in a high humidity area. Do you think a gig bag is good enough to protect from the damaging effects of humidity or should I look into a hard case?

A gig bag should be enough. I use Boveda humidifier packets which control really nicely the humidity. You can find these in your local Binnys

@@christee299 I think the wood on the hard shell case is an extra layer of humidity protection. But it also takes in humidity, so you're humidifying/drying both the case and the guitar.
