Very few hallways are 18 m long. I'm not going to give a lot of details, but most shootings in a home will happen within a few feet. For most situations, a shotgun will do nicely at those distances because if you do hit with it it will put the perp down. I wholly endorse having a couple means of defense. Including pepper spray.

You make some good points, but I want to mention a few things- Some of us live alone, so we don't have to worry about them taking hostages. An 18 meter hallway is more than a lot of us have to cover. In my place, there isn't a straight line over 10 yards. Buckshot is the way to go for shotgun home defense. Many buckshot loads keep a very tight group out to 10-15 yards. I'm talking 3-4 inch groups. I found this to be the case with 3 different loads, while patterning my Mossberg 500. I'm not arguing against the effectiveness of an AR or AK for home defense. I think they're awesome. I'm just saying that the arguments and data you presented aren't completely applicable or accurate for a lot of people's situations. You can't argue against the ability of a 12 gauge loaded with 00 or #4 buckshot to stop a threat. In the end, the best gun is the one you have, and are proficient with.

Yea i kinda expected him to make a lazy strawman case against the shotgun with a name like Tactical Rifleman. Ofc he's going to purposely exaggerate its intimidation factor and the size of its spread and present an insane and unrealistic scenario like the crazy hostage situation. he's oversimplifying and failing to engage with the evidence that other KZbinrs (paul harrell, iraqveteran8888) present on the benefits of using a shotgun; for example #4 buckshot is a clear winner against any other defensive round for overpenetration, and maximum rate of fire is largely irrelevant because aiming each gun to make followup shots at a moving target takes time etc. the shotgun is not going to be easy to master and yea, but a handgun is even harder to shoot accurately under pressure. so many real life examples have proven that a guy esp on drugs is not always gonna go down when hit with handgun or intermediate rifle rounds even if you "keep hittin him" I don't care who you are you are not moving after you get hit with 1 round of #4 buck. capacity is also less of an issue than most may think because defensive shootings rarely require more than 5 rounds and the slow reloads can be overcome with practice. as someone who practices a lot of weak hand tactical quadloading, replenishing an 8 shot tube from an ez 8 shotshell carrier doesn't take much longer than swapping mags. i will readily concede that the shotgun is not the best platform for the diverse environments a soldier may encounter in the battlefield a rifle is superior but combat shotguns are a platform that have proven their worth time and time again in close range engagements. i feel like stories of soldiers overseas fighting with beneli m4 combat shotguns with great success should shut people up but I guess not. its not just a breaching tool lol. i feel like actual operators are so divided on this topic but there are people who love and hate them. at the end of the day when your defending your home youre probably shooting from a defensive position where the intruder or intruders will be incapacitated or retreat after a few shots. you are not not providing supressive fire while your team rushes a position and you need tons of ammo to unload at them. if your getting into a firefight like that in ur house you have bigger problems. shotguns are a platform that work well for home defense if you train like just any other platform. telling people they suck and to use a handgun instead is just pointless and disingenuous. rifles are a good choice but again as demonstrated by paul, they are more far likely to go through EXTERIOR walls than buckshot. the man is entitled to his opinion, and other experts online with combat experience will disagree or agree with him based on their own personal preferences. I'm not saying handguns or rifles don't work, but I have a handgun and a shotgun, and if i hear a bump in the middle of the night im grabbing the dam shotgun but, I've been shooting combat shotguns for a long time so i can run one better than the average person. a pistol caliber carbine is probably the best choice for the inexperienced gun owner who wants to just have a gun in the closet for home defense but handguns are just as difficult to master and less effective than a shotgun and ars cause more collateral if you aren't aware of where you are shooting.

I'm from Croatia and guns are extremely rare here, i never shot a gun before so i'm a 100% internet ninja. But i would definitely prefer Karl's advice if i was to own a gun. He is ex-military and has more experience than regular folks who only shoot in their backyard. All of his points make complete sense from every standpoint and there are no minuses with AR's. With shotguns you get a lot of minuses. While it's more powerful it's also very risky towards other members of the house, it holds less rounds, it does more damage to the house, heavier recoil, slower reload etc.. And since i've never shot a gun before i'm not sure if shotguns are louder or not, but if they are louder that would be another minus for me, since obviously you wouldn't wear hearing protection in case of a robbery and you're shooting indoors. His scenario of a hostage situation was just a random possibility to give an example. Even if it's unlikely, it's better to be well prepared for any scenario. And besides, it doesn't have to be a hostage situation, it could be any situation that involves innocent people being close to the bad guy. Maybe one of your house members would be fighting and wrestling with the burglar so you wouldn't have a clear shot. Or maybe one of your house members would accidentally stumble upon the burglar in the dark because they heard a noise, and you're standing there holding a shotgun yelling at them to move away, but the burglar pulls a gun and shoots you first while you're waiting for a clear shot. Or maybe your dog jumps on the burglar and you wouldn't use a shotgun. I mean these are just random possible scenarios where an AR would give you more advantage.. And just because they're burglars doesn't always mean they are some crackhead junkies with a knife. Maybe they mean serious business, and maybe they come with assault rifles and body armor, and then you would be at disadvantage with the shotgun. I mean it's America, if you can have guns and armor, they can have it too. As i said i'm not a gun expert but i believe armor can stop shotgun rounds. And in this day of age with internet and videogames it's really not that difficult to have a common sense for simple basic tactics and taking cover. If they take cover and have a 30 round magazine, you will be at a great disadvantage with only few shotgun rounds because it would be a long firefight like in Steven Seagal's movies hahah.. And there could be multiple enemies, let's say you shoot a few shotgun rounds at a single target, 1 shot goes to the cover, you miss the 2nd, you hit him on the 3rd, and you have to switch to other targets but you're already on half a magazine.. And even if you're alone, meanwhile you're blasting away your whole house.. Few AR rounds in a drywall is much easier to fix than fcking crater holes.. And lastly, this is just me and my personality, but i'm a soft guy and i wouldn't want to kill anyone, taking someone's life by blasting them with a shotgun would give me lifetime nightmares.. I would rather use an AR just to down them and maybe they would survive, dying would be a 2nd option. My goal would be primarily to stop the enemy, not necessarily destroy them. But if they die, at least it wouldn't look so brutal and painful like a shotgun. I mean, what if they're some young stupid schmucks who just entered puberty and got drunk during holidays, or what if it's a homeless hungry old man robbing food out of desperation, or what if it's a junkie who owes money to a drug dealer and his family is threatened so now he needs to rob houses to get money to save his kids.. Again random possible scenarios, but as i said i'm a soft guy and maybe i would forgive them in such cases. I wouldn't have a heart to blast anyone with a shotgun without knowing their story first, it would require extreme hatred and anger to cause that much damage to someone with a shotgun. Enemy or not, it's just too brutal for me. And if i would use a shotgun and the burglars turned out to be just some young stupid idiots, i would have a huge regret for the rest of my life. Even killing someone in a necessity should be done in a more humane way, shotguns are too frightening. But i don't know, maybe it's a different mentality over there in USA..

To be fair he did bring up some very good points for people who do fit his description. I’ve never seen a house with an 18 meter long hall way so that would be interesting. For a “normal” house , at least where i’m from, a shotgun would do wonders in most homes.

Pro-tip: Most home invasions happen in low light, and you're going to be defending yourself indoors with little advanced notice. If you thought an AR15 carbine with the shorter barrels were loud outside, wait until you hear one in a bedroom hallway reflecting that noise right back at your ears, and blinding you with the flash so now you can't even see anything in front of you except the blue washed out flash obscuring anything else. Instead, I'd get yourself a glock 34 suppressed with laser light and 33rnd mag. Its small so will fit in a mini-safe, you can hold it with one hand while opening doors, you have a light and laser which work great for quick shots, and you're not likely to be wearing ear protection so you won't be completely deaf, and whoever tells you that 33 rounds of 9mm isn't enough to deal with just about any horror movie threat you can think of is full of poop, and you're not going to have any issues hitting a target with a pistol at home defense distances so don't worry about the need to shoulder a weapon.

I got all of the above. For home defense, I’ll use whatever I get to the quickest. Birdshot is an idiot move. 00 Buck or a 1 Ounce Slug. Bad guy gets hit with either of the two, he’s probably not getting back up. An AR is ideal due to much lower recoil. If neither are close enough, well the pistol is. Whatever I have closest to hand is what will be used to defend my home and my family.
@ihcterra46252 жыл бұрын
Depends on the birdshot. If you are talking target loads, then yes, it is short range and minimally effective. But there is an extremely wide range of bird shot and some will blow the lungs out of an attacker at home defense range quite easily. Upland game loads with a flight control wad have very good effectiveness at home defense range out of a cylinder bore shotgun. They actually do better in cylinder bore than they do in a choked shotgun. Buying cheap target ammo for defense is a stupid idea in any gun. Don't bet your life on it, whether it is a handgun or a shotgun.

It think the fact you used birdshot is a bit misleading, its going to spread way more than buckshot so the "it will just piss them off at 18 meters" thing is a bit misleading because with buckshot it would seriously mess them up, and also its extremely unlikely you would be in a situation were a burglar has your wife in a headlock, when would that actually happen? Rifles and handguns are great, but so are shotguns. You could still miss with a rifle/pistol especially under stress/adrenaline/shooting a moving target. Shotguns are very effective at stopping an attacker/ending an attackers life. I don't think its good to just write them off as bad home defence guns because you have a preference for rifles/pistols. I've seen several hundred videos of people being shot and pistols often take anywhere from 5-20 rounds to drop someone. Rifles 1-7. Shotguns 1-2. Obviously there are variables like distance/individual user/attacker is stationary or moving/shot placement, but yeah, shotguns are very effective and yes the downside is multiple projectiles when it comes to innocent people being very close to the attacker but you may miss with a rifle/pistol and if you live alone or you live with someone who you've planned what to do in an attack with this should nullify the issue of a stray pellet(s) hitting them, but a sidearm or mace could be a good option for just such occasions. So to conclude shotguns can be very effective defensive firearms, as can most guns, but they do have downsides which need to be taken into consideration when considering buying/using one for home defence.

Completely agree. I like Karl but he gets a bit carried away sometimes. I have ARs, 12 gauges (Hornady CriticalDefense 00 8-shot), and Sig P320s strategically emplaced around the house. Each has its specific, well-thought through and rehearsed purpose. My preference is the AR because, like Karl, I have significant CMF18 experience with the AR platform; but considerable experience with shotties. We’re trained to do 5-6 round zipper drills in dudes up close with the M4. I’ve never been taught zipper drills with the 12 gauge. It’s ridiculous to automatically assume a person will go down with one round of anything, but 20 years of war has taught us that you should prep for a mag dump with anyone you engage with an M4 and be happy it only takes 3-4 rounds. There are rumored anecdotal cases of dudes taking 00 buck to the chest at close range and remaining belligerent; however, I’ve never been able to verify one of them. When a 12 gauge fills a specific role, and is loaded and employed with that same level of seriousness, there is no more effective tool than one can get.

@@asador7922 considering the level of trauma I've seen 12 gauge double ought buck do to various targets, living and inert? I strongly doubt the veracity of any story that says someone remained belligerent after taking a load center mass. After a gutshot maybe. But a solid thoracic cavity hit? No. It's going to destroy the heart, lungs, and if centered- potentially the spine. The level of trauma is simply incomprehensible until you see it.

@@SignalJones again, I completely agree, I’m a true believer in the “Gospel of the Gauge”. I did a multi-day journey down the YT rabbit hole looking for footage of shotgun engagements - specifically folks taking thoracic shots and continuing the fight. There is nothing there. From multiple tours downrange, I’ve seen what the human body can take, as well as what shuts it off immediately. I’m extremely impressed on the sheer will of some people to continue the fight no matter how bad they have been wounded. That said, the level of overwhelming damage one round of well place 00 does to the body is the exception to the rule. That’s why when I reviewed Karl’s video here (I’ve seen it several times before), I had to chuckle. I have ARs in 556, 9mm, .300 and .308 and have no problem grabbing either if someone kicks in my door. But if it were three bad guys who were stopped with “only” three rounds fired, the only practical weapon capable of pulling that off is a 12 gauge with high quality, well placed 00 buckshot.

I'm a little older and before the AR hit custom home market, the shotgun with slugs was are go to in Detroit. You can teach old dogs new tricks. I've taken numerous AR classes, had friends in the SRT that ran me through countless drills and so on. Now, I live on my ranch on the west coast and have my trusted AR wirh a weapons light on it right next to my bed and another by the kitchen (that one has a scope & used for coyotes, or anything else that doesn't belong on my property ). Great explanation of making proper choices, like pepper spray for some, I recommend getting that BEAR spray, lol, its terrible. Thanks for the video.
@williamcryts53376 жыл бұрын
Ja Z Hey ja, I just want to clear up some misconceptions for your legal safety. Im doing this on my phone so i cant site my sources but this is really important. Bear spray is legally considered a pesticide and thus it is a felony FELONY to use it on a human. Same thing with dog spray,wasp spray etc. It has not been tested or approved for human use. Even saber says not to use it as such. It is also not as strong as human spray like saber red OC. Because it is considered inhumane, they make the bear spray weaker than the human spray because there noses are much more sensitive and its designed to really only keep them out of trash cans and such. Also if you have aggregated a bear much like humans OC does not have the same effect. It will not stop them from charging you, that too is a huge misconception about bear spray. Im armed security and im certified in use of saber red OC and im just passing on knowledge to you so you dont get into legal trouble. Have a nice day, William
@Doublezzranch6 жыл бұрын
william cryts : Thanks William, I never used pepper spray but did use the bear spray & OH MAN its nasty, lol. You take care William.
@jonathananatrella29646 жыл бұрын
I'm completely with William here, Saber Red makes some nasty OC spray that will make your eyes slam shut. I got some as a gift for my little sister and the girl I'm seeing right now. I'd also highly recommend EDC'ing that stuff, too, as the vast majority of assaults don't turn lethal. Like someone getting into a fistfight with you over a parking spot or something is still an issue, but it doesn't automatically make it a good idea to ventilate them.
@kennethwilson73156 жыл бұрын
Even before the AR-15 hit the civilian market big, I still would have chosen an auto loading rifle over a shotgun. Specifically, I would have picked up an M1 carbine over a 12 gauge with slugs. Hell, I'd even grab a lever action in .357, .44 mag, or .45 Colt before a 12 gauge pump with slugs if we go with some real old school stuff. That's not to say I hate a 12 gauge pump either. I'd feel perfectly adequately armed with a Mossberg 500/590 for HD because I've trained to use one to breach doors and clear rooms. Unless I'm breaching the door, I'd rather have my M4/AR-15. If I'm breaching the door, I'll use the shotgun and reload it in a room once it's clear, but I'm transitioning to my sidearm when the shotgun goes dry. For me, the massive power of a shotgun at close range doesn't matter as much as proper shot placement and rapid subsequent shots in the event there are multiple enemies. For HD, that might be that one lone burglar, or it might be that 5-6 or more gang. I think 1 or 2 is more likely, but I'd rather be prepared for more instead of facing more than I prepared to go up against. Even an optimistic 8+1 in the shotgun doesn't comfort me as much as even a 10 round magazine I can quickly change.
@jonathananatrella29646 жыл бұрын
You are correct that multiple attackers are the norm nowadays, for home invasions you can expect at least 3. Partners for the home and a lookout or getaway driver. I've been running 12ga for so long that it's not even a weapon to me at this point- it's an extension of my will. But for most people I'd recommend a semi-auto intermediate caliber rifle with 30 round magazines (if your state will allow them). Like you mentioned, this is the best thing for rapid, precise shots but for another big reason... As Karl demonstrated in this video, anything that will reliably incapacitate a threat will also penetrate interior walls in your home. However, a frangible rifle round will splinter and break apart much more quickly than a slower moving, more solidly constructed pistol bullet will. It's favored by police because of this, which greatly reduces the risk of collateral damage in a chaotic close quarters scenarios.

Funny. I came to the same exact conclusion as you presented. I took a 3 day firearm training course a few years back and after gaining skills with pistol, shotgun and AR15, the instructor at the end asked which weapon I'd want if a burglar broke in. Invest in a decent red dot sight. Iron sights are a nightmare to dial in on when you're on condition black in a home invastion or close-quarters-combat situation. With the red dot, if it's sighted in right, it's point-and-shoot; whatever that red dot hits dies. The couple hundred bucks you spend on the sight could quite literally mean the difference between life and death for you or someone you love.
@cabowaborules6 жыл бұрын
good advice HA also consider a prism scope with an etched reticle (gives you the same reticle even if your battery dies as well as allot of people will attest that a lighted sight is a pain in the glass during the day, I know with my stigmatism I cannot use them). Anyway Vortex has a 1X and 3X as well as there 1X6x24 as well as a new 1X8X24 which are longer but still get you down to 1X. Also you cannot discount the Primary Arms ACCS reticle stuff.

I prefer a semi auto shotgun because they are very effective and reliable. Pumps are slower and more prone to user error, in my opinion. Your mileage may vary. Using target loads to prove how weak shotguns are is a bit dishonest. #4 Buck is a good balance between effective and not too much penetration. Using bird shot to say a defensive shotgun has too much spread is also a bit dishonest. Shooting 00 buck with a flight control wad, at home defense distance in a cylinder bore shotgun, the shot will be far tighter. Smaller than a fist at 15 yards. Like Clint Smith says, "Pistols put holes in people. Rifles put holes through people. Shotguns at the right range with the right load will physically remove a chunk of shit from your opponent and throw that shit on the floor. Then someone will have to come and clean that shit up with a shovel." The key to defending you home with a shotgun is don't buy cheap ammo. Just like the carry ammo for a handgun. You wouldn't buy target ammo and use it for defense in a pistol, so why do it in a shotgun. If you pick the absolute worst ammo for every gun, that makes them all look bad. Why do that just for a shotgun unless you are trying to bias the results to make yourself look smarter?

One bullet, one path. A shotgun has frags that spread to innumerable directions. A hand gun is for defensive measures, an AR is meant to be both defensive and offensive. The AR can be both for short distance engagement and something you can use over long distances.
@davidhoffman6980 Жыл бұрын
"A shotgun has frags that spread in innumerable directions" I'm sorry but that is simply not true. Buckshot tends to spread about an inch per yard, so at 9 yards you'll typically get a 9 inch spread. I don't know as well how much bird shot spreads, but I've shot it and can tell you it goes in one direction. If you were referring to ricochet off of hard surfaces, then that is not exclusive to shotguns. I've had ricochets off of rock and shale with .357 and .44 magnum, and with .22lr. There is extensive footage on KZbin of slow mo views of various rounds fragmenting on impact with steel targets.

Any gun can be used effectively in self defence in certain situations. Its all about shot placement/training/practice/accuracy/skills/tactics.. obviously gear/guns matter but not as much as knowing what to do with them. A shotgun, a rifle, a pistol and a revolver can all be used effectively. I've saw a video of a woman defending her home against 3 burglars with a revolver. Sure an AR is better than a revolver, but a revolver can still do the job sometimes.

I'd go with an AR. They are real tack drivers and it's easy to make accurate follow up shots with the low recoil. Shotguns loaded with slugs will work, but Shotguns are best for skeets and hunting imo. An AR can accomplish any home defense situation and can be done better, more accurately, and cleaner than any shotgun. If shotgun is all you have, practice with it a lot, practice changing out the shell in the chamber so if you need to, you can do it and do it quickly.
@tech62636 жыл бұрын
the shotgun was more in mind for my wife to use. Slugs would solve for X in some situations as opposed to #4 buck. Me? I’m using an AR pistol with a white light. She THINKS a shotgun would be easier to handle. I’m thinking that a shotgun worse for her. (And me) Not easier. Not ideal at all. I’m going to use this video to convince her to practice with the AR. A handgun would be less controllable.
@johndel1971able6 жыл бұрын
Matthew Dennis Yep, me to. I'm a little older and live in a condo. Always was worried about something going through walls so I kept a shotgun at bedside and pistol in the nightstand. When I get home the ar will now be pulling 24/7 security and the shotgun will go into retirement.

But you have to make a choice ahead of time what to get. Most home invasions happen in low light, and you're going to be defending yourself indoors with little advanced notice.

There is no way I would recommend the average home defender take a shot at a hostage situation with your spouse being held in a headlock by the bad guy. Regardless of the weapon they're using. No freaking way. The average home defender is not a range junkie and might have not fired their weapon system in years. Now if you're an LEO, soldier, or frequent shooter with extensive (and recent) trigger time behind that weapon it might be a different story. But that's a recipe for absolute disaster in almost every other situation.

I tend to agree with your assessment. But that’s a tough one. One that I pray that I’m never with. But you can’t fault him, for suggesting it, in a hypothetical scenario. TBH, it’s probably a scenario that perhaps we should all train for.

You're missing the point of his lecture here. He is proving a point between a shotgun and a rifle to see which is better for home defense. He made this pretty obvious. He's also saying to the audience get the f*^k out to the range with your weapons of choice, practice till your arms drop off, and become proficient with them so you can make the choice to take the shot or not. The problem with 96% of the people who purchase weapons for home defense is they don't familiarize and practice enough to be able to make the shot. So why even buy a weapon if you don't practice with it. The situation he presents is one I never wish on anyone to make such a dire decision, but if you practice and become proficient it will help out. I would make that shot, either way your spouse or child will more likely be mallisted or killed if you don't.

An american using the metric system?! He's doing some things right😂
@chairde6 жыл бұрын
TrueNorthS , Anyone who served in the military learned to use the metric system. All tools are sold in both metric and imperial units. It's no big deal for an American to be comfortable with both systems. Soda is sold in metric and hospitals use metrics. Why Europeans are stuck in old stereotypes is a mystery to me.
@thisisacrummyname6 жыл бұрын
I can't believe Americans are still using the British imperial system. It's an archaic system that virtually nobody else in the world uses.
@chairde6 жыл бұрын
thisisacrummyname , Actually we use a combination of measuring systems. For example all military and medical groups use metric. Tools are sold in both systems. Money is ten pennies to a dime and ten dimes to a dollar and 100 pennies to a dollar. The world doesn't come to an end and the sun still rises every morning. Soda by the way is sold in metric quantities. Sport games like baseball is imperial system as is American football. This pretty much follows our history of mixing cultures and traditions. Native American used their own system. Length was measured in the distance of an arrow flight or how far a rider could go in a day. The Sioux Tribe described the length of Custer's last stand as how long it takes to eat a meal. Europe doesn't have a history of mixing cultures.
@thisisacrummyname6 жыл бұрын
Uhmm,..I know Americans use both systems. Though U.S. Automotive manufacturers still use the imperial system. All U.S. Building codes are based off of the imperial system. U.S. Roadways are based off of the imperial system. Grocery stores in the U.S. Use the imperial system. I never said that the U.S. Doesn't use both systems. What I said was,.. "I can't believe that Americans are still using the Imperial system" And my statement is relevant since the rest of the world uses metric. Even the British whom came up with the imperial system switched over to the metric system in the 1960's. You would think that the United States would have quit living in the past or even quit using a System that was based off of what a kings fingers joint lengths and his foots length would have been.

The hostage one I can't argue with but I'd still take 10 rounds of 12 pellet 00buck over 30 rounds of 5.56 any day. It's not going to send him flying but it's going to cause massive trauma and blood loss. I'm not counting on a scalpel when my hands are flippers and my heart sounds like midget trapped in an oil drum, I want a chainsaw that will shred whatever body part it hits. Sure a 5.56 to the head or chest will get the job done but so will the buckshot, but if in the moment I hit an arm, leg, hand, foot, whatever it's going to be a lot more effective.
@mrdark99166 жыл бұрын
That is a matter of proper training buddy. Simple as that.
@pippupaladin6 жыл бұрын
Training doesn't discount any of that though. In an actual fight your chances of hitting dead center in the chest or forehead are going to be a lot lower than pinking steel. The longest distance inside my house is about 30ft so even if I'm on the bottom step of my porch and there were a robber sitting in my kitchen sink the spread on my buckshot would be less than a dinner plate. No amount of training is going to insure that in a CQB fight you'll be getting clean shots to the vitals, I'd rather have something that will cause tons of trauma instead of something more optimized for accurate mid-range shots.
@mrdark99166 жыл бұрын
Training doesn't discount anything. But it greatly increases your abilities while under stress. Atleast PROPER training does. The more you train, the more you are able to react with muscle memory and ease under stress. And yeah, sure you can use your shotgun if you would like. It is not like it is BAD or anything. But it is however, limited. Essentially, it is only the "best" for people who lack the skills to use their handgun/rifle effectively. It is still a good weapon, but the limitations exist. And IF a situation with those limitations arrises, you are essentially fucked. It is better than a baseball bat, that is for sure lol. Just gotta weight all the risks/rewards and choose what seems best to you. Long as you have a good white light on it, go for it. Use the shotgun if ya want lol. But if the time comes that you need to place a PRECISE shot, you might be in some trouble. Will that happen?? Mabey not. But mabey it will lol who the hell knows. I like all my bases covered personally.

Jd Moore I’m with ya. Taking that 00 over 5.56 ANYDAY In close quarters. Making cherry pies on the walls all day and night. ARs are awesome but when u hit center mass on anyone with that 00, no need to look at them anymore on to the next one. Simple to use, can throw it to any relative in the house for them to operate on without having to swap mags and hitting bolt releases. But anyone can argue what works best for them.

So if you are promoting a single bullet projectile delivery system (aka slug from a shotgun) then I’d rather have an AR.. it wins in all categories. No recoil vs shoulder dislocation. 30 rds vs 6. AR is far lighter than any shotgun. Longer effective range. Etc. Change my mind?
@crustybacon41153 жыл бұрын
@@trihonda the ability to load buckshot on the fly? To increase hit probability in a stressful situation when you’ve just woken up and need every pellet of buckshot that you can get? I’d say that’s a pretty good god damn reason for you to change your mind. The fact that there is more than likely gonna be more than one attacker and that a round of OO buck will have at least 9 pellets to hit multiple hostile targets stacked on top and behind one another. More than enough reason to use a shotgun over 5.56 which has a huge reputation of over penetrating through multiple people at once. Especially when you can find a ton of ballistic gel data of buckshot only having 12-14 inches of penetration through tough flesh.
@trihonda3 жыл бұрын
@@crustybacon4115 I think you proved my point. If you have enough spread to hit multiple targets, then it’s much more difficult to create target isolation, and your risk of over penetration (or errant shot) is high. It also has far more recoil than an AR, so follow up shots are harder (not even a question). As for over penetration... I think a solid steel .32 ball is much more likely to over penetrate than a 556 round. I used to think they’d go thru your walls, your neighbors walls, then into some kids bedroom. However I had my mind changed by viewing a number of great ballistics analysis.
