My doctor recommended a high-fiber diet, possibly mediterranean but also said there is no specific diet. I eat vegan and love all vegetables so that was great news for me. A month after my hospital stay after colitis I eat pretty much anything again

@@МедовыйПерсик Healthy as can be. If I wouldn’t have to take my meds (Salofalk - 1500mg Masalazin granulate) and have regular check ups with my doctor I wouldn’t even know I had UC. I eat what I want - fried stuff, raw stuff, spicy stuff… and don’t notice that it hurts me. When I eat at restaurants I didn’t have a problem either. I hope things stay this way. I think stress is the biggest issue for me personally, but that’s difficult to avoid. My inflammatory lab results were pretty high when I had my final exams, then they went down. Looking for a job is it’s own stressful hell though, so I hope my lab results can stay low

My hospital gave me a diet sheet for my crohns NO FIBRE, LOW RESIDUE. No fruit or veg! I had major surgery end of May 30cm of small bowel removed, it was completely blocked. I had been ill for 3 years until I got my diagnosis. I would be terrified to even try adding fibre to my diet!

Try it… I’ve had a bowel resection for crohns, been in remission for years and that because of my fibre intake … if i go one day without fibre I know about it !!🙈

Was diagnosed w/ IBS/IBD last year, underwent (useless “Lactulose Breath Test”, after which Doc said it was inconclusive. She placed me in a horrible “Low-FODMAP” diet, which led me to need Multivitamins, and daily Probiotics. I was also Vegan at the time, but due to the limitations on what I came to call my “forbidden foods” (most fruits, many vegetables, etc., that I loved, but can’t have), I’ve become as a “Food Hermit”, (eating the same-old, same-old everyday-a tiny list of foods I know won’t send me into a spaaasey intestine, w/ much mucus and pain, 1hr before, and when voiding. Even broccoli, eggplant, cabbage, almonds, peaches, pears, apricots, raisins, …, it doesn’t matter how carefully I regulate what I eat, one tiny indulgence (a croissant) sent me into a week’s worth of painful BMs. I AM at a loss of what to do. I’d love to see an Ayurvedic Doctor, and a cleansing regimen (pancha…-whatever it’s called), but my insurance laughs a big-NO at such things. I’m stuck with Alopaths, 5 different Digestive “health” doctors, none of whom could help me! Indeed, none suggested a “Transit Study.” I’m unable to travel, eat out, go out with friends, due to these problems. Food has become my Enemy😜. When I eat, I’m knowingly consorting with the enemy and pay the price, no matter what I eat. For awhile, I even resorted to returning from Veganism to semi-carnivore (poultry, fish), but, for ethical reasons, I couldn’t do it😢. At this point, I’ve lost hope this will get better. I do know however that (were I able to afford and see an Ayurvedic Doctor), I do believe this would be appropriately resolved. But (at my “income” level), that is not a possibility. I don’t know what else to do. (BTW, Naturopaths, et al are also off the table. Most insurances consider them “quacks” and do not cover their visits). I’ll keep watching to see what else you say, I may educate myself with.

I'm trying to find the link mentioned in some of your videos to sign up for info on your protocol. I just got your kindle book and look forward to reading it! I've been following Dr. Bulsewicz and Dr. Allan Desmond, 2 plant based doctors who are on the same page as you. Fortunately I've found a conventional GI doc who is not pushing meds on me. She is not terribly knowledgeable about whole foods plant based eating but she's supportive and understands the importance of diet. Believe it or not, not all GI docs are. It's hard to follow a non conventional path without a little support of an MD, especially with a potentially serious disease such as Crohn's.

Cant figure where the problem is 😔

Glad to hear you doing well. Unfortunately many doctors treat Crohn's using immuno-modulating medications before fixing the root causes of illness. It can be frustrating if you have an auto-immune diagnosis and are looking for the RIGHT advice.

Just want to add to my previous comment that I'm now following a 95 percent whole food plant based diet with copious amounts of vegetables, berries, some additional fruit like apples and kiwis, beans, nuts, seeds, avocados, tempeh, miso, steel cut oats and sometimes quinoa. The 5 Percent non wfpb items are fish oil and a drop of extra virgin olive oil, plus soy milk/ plain oat milk (not whole foods.) I've also eliminated gluten (or so I thought ) but just noticed my tempeh has a drop of barley. Do you think that barley is an issue? I would guess I'm consuming less than a quarter cup of barley per week from the tempeh.

Good news follow up: I had an eight-month repeat of an ultrasound and my inflammation/bowl wall thickening is noticeably reduced... almost normal... by following a largely whole plant diet, with copious amounts of anti inflammatory foods like greens and wild blueberries and other high fiber foods like beans. I also took a lot of anti inflammatory supplements and consumed some fermented food like miso, tempeh and sauerkraut. The past few months I added back in small amounts of salmon, egg whites and non-fat Greek yogurt but was still able to achieve these results... without meds! I'm so happy and will keep on track, making sure to keep my animal sourced foods to a minimum. ( Not sure if eating egg whites and yogurt is the best idea, but I'm 70 and felt I needed a little extra protein) IMPORTANT NOTE: While I was diagnosed with moderate-severe, progressive Crohn's, it was "silent" meaning no symptoms. Still serious, but easier for me to follow this regiment. As I understand it, those with symptoms would need to ease into this way of eating gradually.

I really appreciate your follow-up comments. I have had pretty severe Chron's symptoms and was even in intensive care and then rehab for over two months at the end of 2022. I'm eating primarily a Whole Foods Plant Based diet now but am having to be careful. It's good to hear from someone with Chron's who is having success with this way of eating (since some of the plant foods can still be triggers and I'm not always sure which ones). Do you think the Miso was helpful? I have just recently been thinking of adding it in, I've never tried it. Thank you again for your follow-up updates! Encouraging!
@sectionalsofa9 ай бұрын
@@boltingpuppies My Crohn's. although moderately severe according to a colonoscopy, is considered "silent Crohn's" as I do not have typical symptoms. I understand that many folks with abdominal cramps and frequent stools would not be able to follow the kind of diet I'm on except when in complete remission. Even then, I would approach it slowly, starting with steamed greens and non gassy veggies like carrots, maybe tofu or tempeh instead of beans. I don't see why Miso would. be a problem. I think it would be a good choice. It's also never a bad idea to limit or eliminate sugars, foods high in saturated fats and particularly processed foods. Emulsifiers are apparently a real no no for IBD patients.
