Yeah, he talked about it in his Slackers: Carts of Glory Stream. Basically any game awards show that has an indie category/award means you're only gonna celebrate one indie game, which cuts out that vast majority of interesting, innovative games. So he's doing what you said: he made a list of games he really wanted to celebrate, and then given them all titles.

I'm pretty sure they did recently try to do a tournament for Sparking Zero and the final round was won through someone flying to the top of the screen and waiting for 10 minutes until time out, the commentators actually stopped at a certain point and seemed to give up lol

Yes, they played android 19 and 20. Being true android they could burst dash with no ki usage, spamming up and down works to make everything wiff. its so lame, but technically was peak performance.

not usually a fan of fighting games outside of Smash Bros but god is Sparking Zero good, i got through the tutorial and thought "i am screwed" but i somehow don't get my butt handed to me every match whether its against the AI or in an actual online match. the game has tons of characters, all the transformations and fusions (though Goku and Vegeta have their transformations split between multiple versions of their selves) and like Dan said there's even giant characters like Great Apes. only reason i've taken a break from the game is cause im waiting for the DLC characters to drop but if you want a fighting game thats fun to play and a god damned visual spectacle then this is the game for you. also the game just recently got an update allowing split screen on all maps, not just the hyperbolic time chamber so it would be the perfect game for someone to play together with family on the same couch, maybe with their father *hint hint*

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a boring game that I've given up on after like 25 hours, but the hair physics are incredible. Genuinely might be the best in-game hair I've seen.

It still has more different characters than Budokai Tenkaichi 3 did (by a small margin) and I can't think of any fighting game with more characters outside of maybe Smash Bros Ultimate or something

I absolutely despise the ridiculous amount of button combos in Sparking Zero. It seems overly complicated and not how I remember it from the PS2. I realize there is an option to change the controls to classic but then it feels dumbed down. I feel like they just overdesigned the combat in this game. I tried to go through the training a few times and play some CPU matches and I just felt overwhelmed by how much there is that I can't do cause I can't memorize all the combos so I deleted it from my system.

It plays exactly the same as BT3 with the only additions being perception and super perception lol, you must not have used the other combos in the old games

@@GhostlyGrimace i did alot of beams and rush chains back then. That was pretty much it. I still don't remember it being as complicated as the training told me though. Ill pick it back up eventually. It's at the very end of my backlog for now.
